I can't seem to find the Collection on UK iTunes anymore, just individual films. Anybody know why?

I loves me some Garbage. Shirley Manson

I have seen them twice. The second time was this October and they played their Bond theme song.

I just started re-watching all the Bond movies this week. So far I’ve gotten through the first nine, through Man With the Golden Gun.

I really enjoyed the 6 Sean Connery movies. Maybe except for Thunderball...too much underwater stuff. Thought George Lazenby did really well in his sole outing. Now on the Roger Moore movies...and while I like him personally, his first movie, Live and Let Die, really dragged. But I’m looking forward to getting into the bulk of his run.

I've always been somewhat marmite on Bond as a franchise, intruiged by some aspects and nonplussed by others. However, finding the 24 movie set in Fopp for £35 was too tempting an offer, so for once i'm going to sit through the entire series to date and finally formulate a greater opinion on the series. Bring it!

I guess we will probably have to wait for Bond 25 to hit theaters before we get any 4K releases.

The Bond movies have their charms, but rarely age well.

In the middle of my Bond movie rewatching and just finished the 10th film, The Spy Who Loved Me.

I just realized... SO many of the Bond films up to now literally end on the ocean for the final scene, in some raft or vehicle. Kinda funny that they didn’t mix that up much at all.

One of the alternate endings for the first Austin Powers literally had Mike Myers and Elizabeth Hurley in a raft for no earthly reason, and Hurley remarks, "How did we end up in this raft? And why am I in a bikini?", and Myers replies, "This is the way I end all of my movies, baby!"

The first Austin Powers film is an absolutely brilliant parody of the Bond films on every level - narrative tropes, dialogue, characterization, set design, costumes, cinematography, score, everything. It was clearly made by people who LOVED the Bond films and had studied them religiously. I felt like he used up all his clever ideas on that one film though, and the second and third were just soulless cash grabs.

I'm a huge fan of classic Doctor Who, 70's cop dramas, and exploitation movies. Things ageing poorly for me has rarely mattered even if i'm acutely aware of the fact.

I'd say November/very early December 2019 release of the 4K HDR box set. They(MGM) don't want to miss the holiday shopping season. That timeline will fit in anticipation of the Bond 25 release on Feb 14th 2020. I will not be purchasing until we get solid PQ reviews of all the 24 movies. The purists will also be awaiting if MGM actually spent the time/money to fix the horrible PQ of Goldeneye (1995). See it for yourself, even basic cable movies looked better than Goldeneye. I'd rather pay a premium price than paying a discounted price at the time of release, as long as the PQ is truly the best then not worth shelling out your wallet until then. Also regarding the release date, MGM wants to protect themselves in the event Bond 25 is a critical misfire and does worse in the box office then Spectre. If the movie bombs then the 4K box set will be de-valued (meaning loss of potential revenue).

Yeah, "includes space for [upcoming film]" is the Bond box set MO isn't it? So three months before Bond 25 would make sense.

That's one of the reasons I treasure this series. Each one is a time capsule of the trends in action cinema and pop culture at large at the time of release. Thus we get Space Race Bond in You Only Live Twice, Blacksploitation Bond in Live & Let Die, Star Wars Bond in Moonraker, Miami Vice/Scarface Bond in Licence To Kill, xXX Bond in Die Another Day, and Jason Bourne Bond in Casino Royale.

The World is Not Enough is underrated for sure. Excellent aside from Denise Richards.

I’m on Roger Moore’s 5th film, For Your Eyes Only, and so far I just don’t feel the majority of his movies hold up very well. Moonraker was awful. I like how FYEO is much more down to earth ( literally), but I guess they just don’t age that well when compared to Connery’s movies for the most part.

Don’t get me wrong, Roger Moore is really likable to me. And there are aspects of his run so far that I have enjoyed. I feel with FYEO, he was getting a little old to be playing Bond.

Totally agree with you regarding how perfectly Austin Powers parodied the Bond films. I do love Austin Powers 2, though. I still remember renting the DVD ( having never seen the 2nd movie) and literally crying from laughing so hard when Fat Bastard was first introduced. I don't think I've ever laughed at a movie more, other than Wedding Crashers
