Both sets were re-released with it in 2016.

I'm still steaming mad that they did this repack in a much more shelf friendly box with actual disc holders AND made the EON docu exclusive to it-essentially giving all of use who got the Bond 50 set which has horrible disc slots the middle finger.

Meh, when Bond 25 comes out and/or they release a 4K set, everyone with the back box will be in the same boat. Don’t give in to the hate, accept it like I do and keep forking out over and over

I had the Bond 50 set. Horrible packaging. When I learned about this set, I put the Bond 50 set on E-Bay and pretty much made my money back on it.

Indeed. I keep all my discs in a seperate binder.

The 4Ks are rumored and supposedly already exist in DCP form. They will be the next addition for me alongside VHS, letterboxed VHS, LD, Letterboxed LD, Criterion LDs, LD box sets, SE DVDs, UE DVDs and the BDs. Hopefully the issues currently in the HD masters will be addressed but I highly doubt it.

For someone that’s seen Spectre and enjoyed it and seen Goldfinger and liked it quite well, do you think one would enjoy the rest of the Bond catalogue?

If you like Connery and Craig I think you’d be pretty safe with all of them bar the Roger Moore films, which are somewhat lighter in tone. Not worse, just a bit different. Of the Moore films, start with Moonraker - if you can survive that, you can survive any of them

Yes, obviously you’ll enjoy some more than others, but IMHO even the worst Bond movies are enjoyable to some degree.

answers might be a bit bias as this is a Bond thread . as mentioned Bond has gone through some phases which may or may not appeal to you but i agree that even the worst Bond movie is still worth a watch (and not that bad). i like most of the Roger Moore titles myself. if you like the character then you'll be fine. the series started in 1962 and has kept going to present day for a reason.

I've heard that the Thunderball blu-ray releases have some issues. Is there one better than the other to get?

Definitely a drop in image quality from Dr No, From Russia With Love and Goldfinger to Thunderball. The first three look pretty incredible really. Thunderball is the first scope aspect title in the series and not nearly as sharp and clean looking as the first three.

It’s fine. Not as good a transfer as some of the others but it looks pretty good.

Pretty sure all Thunderball discs are the same, and the transfer is solid.

Thanks for the responses, you guys. Thunderball might be my favorite Connery Bond, so I wanted to make an informed decision.

Thanks for the responses to everyone that replied so far! Would you say that the Bond films can be a bit hard to follow at times or are they fairly easy to follow?

The Bond films are pretty easy to follow. The sequels rarely make references to past installments but there have been moments where it might be lost to some that haven’t watched all installments
[Show spoiler]such as vague/subtitle references to Tracy from On Her Majesty’s Secret Service in The Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only, License to Kill and The World is Not Enough.
. I can watch anyone of them and sit back and enjoy the ride .

There’s a picture in Post #1. Two ten-disc cases for the first 20 movies and a four-disc case for the Craig films.
