Yep, it’s great how hate-able and punch-able he is. Can’t muster up the same level of visceral loathing for any of the other Craig villains.

The actor’s resemblance to Roman Polanski doesn’t hurt, in this regard.

You nailed my thoughts on the Craig films - 3 great ones and 2 with issues. But the legacy of his films will be fine.

Everybody who had more than two entries had some great ones and some not-so great. Plus everyone gets a nostalgia-fueled fan base who grew up during the time of those films who will defend them no matter what weaknesses they have forever & ever.

Daniel Craig may have been the most fit/muscular Bond, but he was arguably the weakest Bond the franchise has ever had...

Yep I posted something in the original NTTD movie/spoiler thread.

This character must have spent the least amount of time being James Bond. I mean honestly my post went something like this.

End of Casino Royale, cue music Bond is Back.
Beginning of QoS, um not quite, unfinished business. End film gun barrel and now we have Bond right?
Yes for 10 minutes.
On a mission, gets shot, goes off radar for two months and somehow drank himself blind to the point where he should have gained a beer or Tequila body that wasn't visible and completely forgot how to shoot and has trouble running on a treadmill. Where's Mickey to train him when you need him?
Bond sort of returns, fails his mission gets a new boss, cue music Bond is now ready.
Then he goes off the beaten track against orders thanks to his old boss and ends up being wanted by his own MI6.
Bond saves the day, but decides to quit 00 and goes off into the sunset.
Bond is with his woman, then they part for years, he comes back saves her and the kid and dies.

I mean how minutes in all those movies was he actually James Bond, going on a mission, meeting girls and saving the day?

I'm not into ranking films, but for me Skyfall is the worst. Not just of the Craig films, but the whole series. I think I posted about it at the time, but the last time I watched the Bond films all the way through, I found Skyfall to be, well, incredibly boring.

It's just one long slog of a film with a bit of action at the very beginning and the very end, and I really don't buy into the whole "M is mommy" bullshit they have going on in that one. The pacing is so slow without the benefit of someone like John Barry to fill in the lulls.

It's sad because back in the pre-Brosnan days when I considered Moonraker to be my least favourite, I would still find so much to like in that one and I would never come close to consider it boring.

Ordered the white box Blu Ray set. The price is reasonable plus I had Best Buy certificates that covered most of it. From what I can tell from forums the iTunes is mostly very close to the bluray quality, with the exceptions of Goldeneye/Octopussy/View to a Kill being noticeably better. I can grab those if I'm inspired when they rotate into a $5 sale.

I'm assuming a 4K disc set is still possible but at least a couple years away, plus will likely come with digital copies anyway so I'll just enjoy the current cheapest bluray set, grab a used copy of the 50 Years of Posters book to fulfill my original artwork fetish, and consider myself set for now.

Same.

So much of what I love about Bond films is missing in Skyfall. Sure has its own flavor but that’s not Bond.

I really like Spectre actually. It had to go out of its way to reinstate elements that Skyfall had pulled back on. Also had a great ending I thought.

Can we use AI to insert Sean Connery into ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE?

He's one of the few Bond villains that actual feels like and functions as a real person - a white collar Franz Sanchez.

Skyfall was my least favourite Bond film until No Time to Diet came along. Skyfall may be boring and pretentious, but at least they didn't kill Bond and turn him into a baby daddy. And burger-faced Satan (or whatever he's called) is the worst villain in the series. All the good work the first two Craig films did left lying in a bloody puddle of shit.

Spectre was a big improvement on Skyfall because they tried to make it more Bond-like -- BUT as soon as we're introduced to Blofeld the movie crumbles. A real shame.

I might end up feeling that way too, but I've actually only seen NTTD once and I don't have much interest in re-visiting it any time soon.

I hate coming across like a curmudgeon, but all that I ever enjoyed about the series, even through its many changes and tonal shifts, is lacking from the Craig films. Well, the last 3 anyway.

I honestly wouldn't care if the series was done at this point. Again, I'm not trying to sound like I'm miserable about it, but I simply think I've moved on from this series.

Any mention of the Craig era has me sounding like Inspector Dreyfus whenever Clouseau is mentioned.

Do you really like it that much? And my other question is why? There’s no denying it’s got good action in places and the section with Paloma was great but overall I can’t stand it.

The Discfather has claimed the UHDs are in the works on Twitter. I don't know how or where he's gotten this information so take it with a major grain of salt.

The classic bond era ( Connery & moore) have the most rewatch value in my view with the "old school era" ending with Tim Daltons underrated short lived run.
