It's I think 29 here and I'm walking around in a shirt and khakis. I was considering throwing on a jacket but forgot to grab one on my way out of the car. High today of 42, which to me isn't too bad.
Obviously not the best quality photo. I'm going to share a story and I'm telling you right now, it's LONG and not that interesting. If you want to read it, fine, but don't say that I didn't warn you
This was a rainy night in Vienna back in 2015
[Show spoiler]with this girl I actually met in Munich. She traveled from Brazil to Munich to run in their marathon which to me was batshit crazy lol I met her on a Sunday night after her race. She asked me for directions to a restaurant where she was to meet some friends. Between the small map that she had and the small map in my travel book, we were able to point her in the right direction. Being that it was dark and she was a woman by herself, I offered to walk her to the restaurant. Once we got there, we talked for awhile and she seemed to be into me as she was not in a rush to join her friends. We exchanged contact info (FB and email) and I hit her up when I got back to the hotel.
We met up the next day and had breakfast at her hotel. We were both leaving Munich for Austria that day, me via rental car South into Innsbruck and her East via train into Salzburg (Sound of Music country). After breakfast, we took a short walk and had a lovely English couple take two pictures for us. I was in a bit of a rush because I had things to see on the way into Austria so we only walked around for about 15 minutes. I walked her back to her hotel and as I was saying goodbye, she kissed me. She must have thought she startled me because she said something like "I'm sorry, this is what we do in my country". I assured her that it was alright and we shared a couple more kisses.
We parted ways and kept in touch over the next few days. I eventually made my way to Salzburg but by now, she had moved on to Vienna. So again, I took my time getting to the next city (Salzburg), making stops along the way and enjoying the beautiful Alpine scenery. I got to Salzburg and checked into the pension (Bed&Breakfast) and made contact with her. I asked if she wanted me to visit her in Vienna and she did. As I was leaving the pension, I asked the hostess how far it was to Vienna. She either said it was about 3 hours or about 300 kilometers. I knew it was far but I didn't know it was quite that far!
So in the car I got and off I went. Now, GPS saved my ass because I would have never even made it out of Berlin if not for the GPS, but I am amazed that I took off at night time in a country I have never been to and drove that far by myself. I am quite amazing Anyway, I arrived in Vienna and found her hotel. She had given me her hotel's wifi password so I could contact her when I got there. It was probably close to 9pm when I met up with her. I was quite hungry so we went in search of any place that was open. We actually found this Mexican place called Fresco Grill. It was like a fast food place but it had a small dining area. It kind of reminded me of Subway but with Mexican food. Luckily they weren't closed yet so they let us eat inside. While we were there, there was some guy, perhaps homeless and apparently disgruntled, who went on some NeoN... rant. He was speaking in German so we couldn't understand a word he was saying but the guy working there asked us if we could understand him and when we said no, he told us what the guy had said. The guy working at the the restaurant was actually an expat living in Vienna. I think he was from Ohio, or somewhere in the Midwest, and had been living in Vienna for 11 years.
So we ate, we talked and then we continued on our way walking the streets of Vienna. As you can imagine, it's a lovely city and I really hope that I can get back someday. Because it was so late, she let me stay with her, but just because anyone who was so bored that they actually read this might think something happened, she told me before she let me in that she would not be sleeping with me lol We certainly fooled around but nothing too crazy happened
