Here are a couple of photos of me in the dark evil woods at a 12-mile trail race this past weekend.

It's been a terrible year for me health-wise, because, after 30 years of my never going to a doctor for anything, late 2017 and 2018 brought their A-game. I was diagnosed with low testosterone in late 2017 after having a lot of trouble with low energy levels. I had a ruptured appendix in March of this year with an infection that put me in the hospital for six days. Two months ago, I passed out in the middle of the night when I woke up to go to the bathroom (no alcohol involved), and was given a perfect bill of health by the emergency room, but had to wear a 30-day heart monitor in September just to be on the safe side and am going in for a heart ultrasound next week because of a low heart rate. All the while, I've been running and staying active, but I'm a lot slower and less in shape than I've been in quite a while. Late 2018 and 2019 will be comeback times for me. After having finished over 50 marathons and ultramarathons during the past decade, 2018 will be the first year that I have not completed a full marathon distance. Instead, I've been running shorter distances and occasional half marathons.

At any rate, it was fun to run (okay...power-walk) a really hilly trail race this weekend.

Sorry to hear of your health troubles Owl. I miss running, I sprained an ankle in May and I've never been the same. Hope you're steadily improving.

Thanks! I received the good news from the echocardiogram results that there is nothing wrong with my heart, and that my heart is functioning normally. That's a huge relief. Now I'm full tilt into the long process of getting back into peak shape.

Yeah I know what you mean. I didn't even plan on going. My mother-in-law just up and asked my wife and I to come with her on a cruise, out of the blue. She decided to pay for the whole thing for both of us.
