I'm scared to read all the threads about people complaining about the dark scenes in Pitch Black. I'm sure that it will look awesome, but because of general limitations in dark scenes, it will get unfairly bashed.

I noticed the censoring a couple months ago when I was watching an episode of Six Feet Under and they were bleeping out language. It is bad enough they now have commercial breaks and now this; Universal HD has gone down the toilet.

Re: Pitch Black, from what I saw it looked quite good in Hi Def. I'm sure the BD will look quite good and will probably be the best home video presentation of the film available.

Just saw it last night on Universal HD and it wasn't quite as good as I remembered it. I think Chronicles holds up alot better under repeat viewings. Looks and sounds better too.

I own the HD DVD versions of both and Pitch Black is one of the nicest transfers in my collection.

It's neat how some people only prefer PB and others prefer COR...2 very different types of movies indeed. I guess it depends on what mood you're in. I've always preferred PB myself, but I do lean more towards the horror/thriller side of the fence.

YES! the CHRONICLES on DVD had excellent reference quality audio. So it should sound even better with lossless audio. The guns they use in this movie will give your sub a serious workout.

Wil, not quite sure on that. We just got the release dates. But yeah why not, American Gangster, King Kong can get their theatrical/extended in one disc, why not Pitch Black?

I definitely vouch for PB on HD DVD for the PQ. I watch at least some of it quite often. This would be a triple dip for me since I own the DVD. Think I'll stand pat.

I can't find any site that confirms this. Is it an import that the thread is talking about?

Watched this for the first time in a long time tonight. Time has done its CGI no favors, of that I can assure you. Wowza.

Maybe, but I would still consider it a decent film.

I thought the CG always looked ropey, it's a very low budget film. But I love it for the atmosphere of dread that it generates, and always will.

Yeah I still love the movie, I was just shocked by some scenes that looked about as bad as Escape From LA.

Is the longer cut of this superior or not really much of a big deal? The UK version only has the theatrical cut so I'm wondering if it's worth importing the US edition to have both cuts, although it's a lot more expensive to do so.
