I've found the weight of the paper to be heavier and the overall quality of the paper to better on legit posters, but to be honest I didn't buy too many copies before I got into authentic posters.

I think buying from reputable dealers helps too, like Kinsella here on the forums or movieposter.com. movieposter.com DOES sell reprints, but I have found that they do call that out in their descriptions of the poster. So you know what you're buying.
I agree with you go with Kinsella or MoviePoster.com... MoviePoster.com is good about telling you if it is a reprint.

Buy some tubes and unload em here and on ebay, use your profits to frame a couple that you like the best... it's what I would do at least.

Are advanced Poster more valuable than others ? Do theaters get 2 types of posters ....Advanced and a regular one ? I have been looking at the prices from Movieposters.com and some of the posters are pretty pricey $50- $75.. Is movieposters.com known for there high prices or are they a good gauge in prices... Thanks everyone

They aren't worth more one way or the other. It more depends on scarcity and popularity of the movie, and demand of the poster on the secondary market.

Prices of posters, like anything else are really a matter of supply and demand. If the advance of a popular movie has less printed then that could drive up the price, but if that advance looks like ass then it won't be as much in demand. I can appreciate my comments are terribly insightful, but I think you may be looking for a generalization when there isn't one.

Movieposter.com I think is a fair retail barometer of movie poster pricing. If anything I believe their more collectible posters are on the high side of the price scale. I know I always check with Kinsella here on the forum for pricing and if he has it in stock I don't think there has been any instances where his pricing was more than movieposter.com. For me though I still end up going with movieposter.com sometimes because they are local to me. I am not sure if Kinsella has a retail space or an extended staff and web presence that would necessitate increased prices to cover overhead or not, but that is none of my business I suppose

EBay in general I would expect you to get lower prices on as buyers there will be skeptical. You could also end up with really picky buyers on ebay who could cause you grief if the condition of the poster doesn't match their expectations.

Officially, I'd say you'd need to go to the trading forum but as this thread gets a lot of poster collector traffic letting us know when you make that post I don't think is going to hurt, then we can all track it through the trading forum.

If you're going to sell some posters, keep in mind that condition is a very big issue especially with collectors and posters are a very fragile item. Any wrinkle, edge wear, scuffing, etc is a huge turn off. Some guys are even anal about the back of the poster even if it's not printed on the back. I've bought some from movieposter.com before and have to say the ones I received were basically pristine condition unless it was noted on the website that it had damage. Even the noted damage was imo really minor but it was still noted. Just unrolling the posters and trying to flatten them, as a novice I did plenty of "damage" that would have made the posters unacceptable to die hard collectors. I've become a lot smarter and more experienced with handling posters over the past few months but standard movie posters are still pretty tough to deal with imo due to how large and thin the paper is compared to other posters/prints I've been buying.

When i sell the 247 posters i am about to acquire i will make sure all imperfections are noted and will priced accordingly... Is there any advice you can give me about handling and rolling posters.... I know not to use rubber bands.... I will also have a bunch of close up pictures of each poster that i am going to sell so people can see the actual condition of each poster.... I have a lot of posters go through so this will take a while.... I am sure not everyone of the 247 posters i am getting is perfect but i am positive that a majority of them are in excellent shape.... I can't wait to go through all of them all... Here are some of the ones that i will be getting ....again i am not sure what style they are yet but i do know they are all original.... Here are just a few.....

Wall E - Zombieland - X-Men First Class (4 posters ) - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (2) - War of the Worlds - Chronicles of Narnia - Prince Caspian (2) - Chronicles of Narnia - Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2) - Red Dawn 1 - Night at the Museum - Cowboys and Aliens - Inglorious Basterds - The Illusionist (2) Just to name a few..... Thanks

Is there a special way to unroll and flatten a poster properly? I've only ever had to flatten Mondo posters which are pretty thick. I just take it out of the tube and let it sit for a day or two, then toss some Steelbooks on each corner and some along the sides if the poster is bigger than 18x24".

Any feedback would be appreciated, my Stout Avengers is next to be processed into the Flat-File.

I use hardbound books to flatten them. I let them sit on top of the table for at least a week. I am not aware of any special way to do this but the important thing is to preserve the mint condition of the print. I am still looking for an affordable flat file. Do you use a mylar to protect your prints inside the flat file?
