Default Toys and posters?

This post is not to offend anyone or anything at that matter.I choose to post this in the hometheater section sense there is more viewers here so hear me out. What is the deal with people having posters and toys in there hometheater?I personally think and this is my opinion that it makes SUM of there place's look messy and cheap.I understand you want to make it look more like a theater but how many theaters do you see have posters inside the actual theater?NONE Want to hear others opinions on this matter,Do you like it or dislike it.Again for anyone who is one of these toy poster guys plz do not take this to heart.

TO ADD when i rate some of your HT I look past the toys and poster's and focus on the system it self and not the environment

I guess it depens on each person's taste.. I don't mind having posters or action figures on my home theater... I like how they look... I have seen other people who are sports fans to use their home theater to show off collectibles and other items related to their favorite teams...

there's one HT galley I saw the other day on this website of one guy who is obviously a horror film fan, it had posters and figures and they matched the decoration making it look incredible (in my humble opinion)

I don't think a home theater is an attempt to emulate a real theater, I think it's more about making the place where you watch your movies more comfortable...

then again, that's just my opinion!

Yea I'm def trying to imitate a movie theater that smells like piss and has popcorn and candy all over the floor. It's all about being comfortable and enjoying yourself, not what other people think of it.

Hey there.

I've seen what you are talking about and I see what you are saying to a certain extent.

I believe the Home Theater has evolved into an undefined new territory in the last few years.

Home Theater used to mean (to a lot of people) and home theater SYSTEM in a particular room...usually a living room or a den.

NOW...people are full-on putting pre-wired dedicated theaters into their buidling plans and they are extremely personal and straying quite far from the traditional "theater" motif.

The clean lines and streamlined walls may work for some people, but there are others who express themselves in that particular room. Take a look at the Kat who build the theater around the Emperor's office motif....HOLY SH!t!!!

I think as long as the lighting is not disruptive and the sound is not altered in anyway, then whatever extras are pretty much up to the theater builder.

PLUS...a lotta Kats on this site are married and have to live by house rules. We may very well be witnessing a "you want that?!?!? You put it in your THEATER MISTER" situation.

Who knows...I could be way off.

Either way...I think this could lead to a decent discussion.

Later...enjoy your weekend if I don't get to post back everybody,

I could go either way on this one. I love seeing peoples collections (I have tons of Star Wars stuff), but I'm not crazy about having mine in the main HT room. Not like the wife would let me anyways...my stuff is all confined to the game room. The posters are nice if they are framed and there are only a few placed well. I would love to have a true HT (dedicated room) with a couple of backlit posters in frames at then entrance. I don't think I'd have anything inside. Of course when watching movies it doesn't matter because the room is dark and all you see is the screen. My $0.02...

I love having posters in the home theater, it shows your personal favorite movies and gives some incite about yourself, as long as the posters are framed and not just taped on, and I'm not talking about a nice frame, you can get a poster frame at Wally World for like $8, then I'm all for posters.

Toys are the same deal, I love action figures, and as long as they are in good condition and your not having your childhood beat up StarWars figs dancing around the screen, it's all good.

It would be cool to have a little theater for your action figures with little posters of its own.

I have both,
<----See Gallery.

For me its becasue, well, I like it. Its not for everyone though. My sister in law came over and asked my wife, "What is he doing to your living room" My wife replied, "This is his room".

Most of my figures come from movies so it ties in. More for the movie experience.
