I guess a good question to ask....where are you buying it from? A private seller? A dealer? Website? eBay isn't the greatest place to find originals, sure they are on there, mainly people who work at theaters or know people who do, but also private collectors who want to sell off some of their collection, but there are also sellers who offer up reprints and all kinds of sellers that misrepresent posters, some knowingly, and some unknowingly. Basically to sum it up, you can find all types on eBay, figuring out the good from the bad, is where the game starts.

Default Autographed Movie Posters

If anyone is interested in authentic autographed movie posters, the American Cinematheque (Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood & Aero Theatre in Santa Monica) often has special screenings in Los Angeles and has actors, directors, etc from films show up for the events. They then have a few posters signed and offer them for sale. The curator that handles the posters sent me the list of what they have, if anyone is interested, PM me and I can get you a PDF file of it and you can coordinate with the curator directly with any questions, etc. I am unsure of condition, if they are originals, etc, but she is has been quite accommodating so I am sure she can provide photos, and more information, to anyone who is interested.

Kinsella, I'm currently cataloging all of my posters so I can start selling some of them and I came across a Dark Knight Rises poster still wrapped in a poly tube and in a cardboard tube. I'd rather keep it there because I know I'm not going to sell it. Can it be kept this way indefinitely?

I am not a big fan of storing posters in cardboard tube for long term storage. It should be ok in the polytube and then in the cardboard tube, keep in a cool dry place.

Exclamation Help?

Hey All-

Can anyone help me get ahold of the new lenticular poster for Captain America 2: the Winter Soldier? It's based off this image – but it changes from the full-paint to the worn one.:

They have one at my local cinema (which of course they won't let go of…), and I'd REALLY like to get one to commemorate being an extra in the filming.

Getting one of lenticular ones will prove to be difficult. Disney is very tight with their posters, and if getting the standard one-sheets is hard, getting the lenticulars will be even harder. I believe Disney requests the lenticulars back, they have not produced that many lenticulars in the past but you may want to keep an eye out on eBay, but anyone who puts one up will be risking it as Disney does monitor eBay. With all that being said, if you find one, expect to pay a premium for it. I don't think will find any dealers that have any either. I do have the one-sheet advance poster in stock but I highly doubt I will be offered any of these lenticulars.

No problem, and if you get desperate I have teaser one-sheet in stock which is the same image. Kind of spendy but I did get a few that I would consider slightly damaged that I offer cheaper than mint ones.

I don't have those, they just announced Karl Urban as a guest here in Seattle at the upcoming ECCC show that I will be set up at, so it would have been nice to have J.D. posters in stock to have customers get them to get signed but those were difficult for all dealers to get because not many were made.

Missed out of the Horkey Two Towers drop due to some personal BS. So pissed

On the bright side I just picked up weekend passes to the Calgary Comic Expo. Couple guests have been announced so far. Should be good!

Gonna head over to Michaels today I think to see if I can get something framed last minute.

I am pretty sure they sell originals and reproductions as well such as specialty posters that you would see in mall stores, etc.

I believe as well that Swingers only came single-sided but I could be wrong. Miramax Pictures, who distributed films such as The Crow, and Pulp Fiction and those only seeing single-sided originals really didn't start putting out double-sided (and continued with single-sided at the time) posters until 1996 with the release of The English Patient. However, Swingers came out within a month of The English Patient so it's possible double-sided ones are out there, unless Miramax started producing double-sided posters with The English Patient as they were pushing for an Oscar with that film and they did nine times over and maybe they wanted the spend a bit more on marketing for that film over Swingers. I don't remember every carrying Swingers but I am finding stuff all the time as my inventory organization continues, so if I find one I will check it to see if it double or single-sided.

Happy New Year's early to everyone, be safe!

I needed a change of scenery, so I ordered this bad boy.

Just have to pick up a new 24x36 frame. I'd love to have my posters framed, but it's too expensive for me right now.
