Now if someone comes along and buys it for that price, then that would be the highest price sold for the standard, and in the same league as The Thing print, but as I mentioned, The Thing has an entirely different following of fans than Akira does. Sure, there are people like myself who loved them both, but ultimately I would think there are more people wanting The Thing print than there are wanting Akira, but as I touched on before, obtaining an Akira was much more difficult than it was originally obtaining The Thing print.

The other seller on there has it for $2000 or best offer, again too high in my opinion. He has had two offers, not sure what they are, but clearly not enough to get him to sell. Sometimes people don't want to really sell the print but will if the price is right and clearly that's the case. I don't really blame the sellers at all, they want to get as much as possible but realistically they are both high price wise.
Thanks Kinsella and that would make sense about the market for Akira right now. I have seen the $2000 numerous times up there for a BIN or best offer. I guess he just keeps relisting it but i'm really not in the market for it anywhere near those asking prices because like you said it seems like he really isn't looking for any offers below the asking price anyhow. I think that people sometimes may subconsciously list prints on ebay way above what they are worth because they are having a hard time letting them go although they know they need the money for something like rent, bills, etc.

Yeah it sucks when you have to end up resorting to ebay but most of the time the artists will have AP copies on their own site not long after a Mondo drop. Phantom City Creative put up the copies of BTTF a few days after for not much more than what Mondo was asking for. The AP copies are usually a little higher since the artists has control of the price but it's a second chance at the poster if you miss it on Mondo and it will still be much cheaper than ebay prices. I haven't really checked to see the prices on ebay for BTTF but i find it hard to believe the prices will be that much in a few months as the flippers always end up undercutting each other.

My BTTF prints are going up on the walls, so fear not! Just bought frames this weekend and cleared out wall space, so I'm ready when they show up in 2-3 weeks

I don't blame people for making a buck for these Mondo prints but I just think it's cool I can point at it and go "yeah, those are 1 of like 500 in the world".

Well when it comes to the Akira print, there are some factors as to why it has shot up so fast. Remember it technically hasn't even been out for a year, and it shot up from the original price which I believe was close to $60 to about $1500. It was a difficult one to get because no one had known what the Mondo Mystery Movie really was all about, but now they do. And since it was technically only offered at that screening and not online, it then makes it even more rarer, which drives the prices up. I think it will continue to go up as will other Stout pieces and prints by other artists. Its kind of a "do I buy now or do I wait a few years when the prices will probably be higher?" I do agree that perhaps some people put things up on eBay at a higher price because they don't really want to part with it but at a certain price point, they will let it go.

Remember though "asking" and "getting" are two different things. I could "ask" $10000 for a Dark Knight movie poster, in reality I would get a fraction of that.

For $10,000 each, I will take 2.

Hello all. I was looking into some posters, mainly a Sucker Punch and Dark Knight Rises, and was wondering if Movie Market was a legit online seller?

I've seen the advance DKR for about $40 on there and they say its an original.

A new Mondo update just came out and Tyler Stout is doing the Drive artwork on vinyl in June and a print. This is a perfect movie for him to do considering how many characters it has so it should be interesting to see how it turns out and gives people plenty of time to save up since it's not until June.

They are legit but are a UK dealer. What Sucker Punch style you are looking for, the advance or the final? For the record there were two styles produced for that film and that was all, despite what some sites reported. Both styles featured the same artwork, the final added the credits to the poster, and that was the only difference. I will send you a private message directly....

Default The Thing

I wanted to let everyone know about a really cool print that is only on sale for today (Monday) that is of The Thing. It is by an artist named Mark Englert and is called "“Det er en Slags Ting”. It is a wide angle print of the opening scene from the film and I think Mark did a great job on it. He is a regular contributor tot he E.B. forums and was playing around with the idea and got people's feedback and made changes along the way, keeping everyone updated with how it was looking.

He decided to turn it into a 12" x 36" in size 3-color screenprint. The cool thing is he made it a "timed" release whereas he compiles all orders during a 31-hour window. The order cut-off is today (Monday) at 3:15pm pacific time.

The timed release is for the standard edition, which will be signed and numbered, but he also released a variant edition yesterday which sold out in seconds. A lot of people are really impressed with the print, so I wanted to let everyone know about it here in case they want to get an order in.

When the 31 hours are up, I am sure he will announce what the total print run size is, price is only $40 plus shipping which isn't bad at all, and this is his first print he has done. You can read more about it here:

http://411posters.com/2012/03/det-er...-mark-englert/

You can then place your order at the site below, by 3:15pm pacific time today only:

Yeah the window to order ended at 3:15pm pacific time. Total count was 232 standard editions and 31 variants. All will be signed and numbered, with random ones featuring original sketches by the artist he said.

Went by a local frame shop to see about getting my Stout Captain America properly framed. $425. Ugh. Any suggestions or thoughts? Don't have a Michaels or anything like it nearby. It was kind of a bummer picking out everything then getting slammed with that quote.

Was that using a 24k solid gold frame? That seems awfully high to frame a 24x36 print. I am not sure if the print is slightly larger than that (like The Thing Stout print was) but make sure IF it is that a framer doesn't trim it down to fit. Good lord, never trim any print or poster.
