hey guys! I'm on this forum for a long time now, but just noticed there's a thread for movie posters, which is great!!

I'm not collecting actual posters (not made from paper/cardboard) just "collect" them on my computer. really love the ones that is not crowdy and has something to tell about the movie.

not long ago, I bought a graphic tablet in order to have a tool for realizing all those ideas that are in my mind. if you don't mind, I'd like to show them, let me know what you think, even if you don't have a positive opinion (which hopefully won't happen)

please note, that the drawings themselves are completely finished, but not all of the posters as some of them miss some of the text (actors, tagline)!!

The jacket

Stephen King - 1408

Dog soldiers

American history X

hopefully I uploaded them correctly so you can see them (first time I'm doing this)!

I have plenty of more ideas, will upload them as well, if anyone's interested in seeing them.

I don't think they will be. More of a promotional item.

I only glanced at the images of them online, but I believe they said "Cinemas" at the bottom, correct? If so, they sound as if they are geared more towards the international marketplace since studios tend to use the word "Theaters" here in the USA and "Cinema" for overseas. Also, it seems whenever something is released image-wise, sites are quick to call them "posters" when in reality they tend to be just promotional images and nothing more. Still they could be character banners but something tells me they are nothing more than just promotional images or perhaps international promotional material.

Dark Shadows trailer debuts online tomorrow, poster should be hitting theaters next week or the week after.

Those Olly Moss Zelda prints went quick today with the surprise drop and all on his twitter. I didn't manage to score a regular because i was out when it dropped...ashamed since it was $80 but i figure i can use the money on some framing i need to get done anyhow that i would have spent on that.

I'm trying to track down a reproduction poster (27x40), not a PRINT, for the original 'Straw Dogs' starring Dustin Hoffman. I've tried looking everywhere. Basically, I want that beautiful close-up image of Hoffman with the broken glasses. I just want that image mounted on foam board. Not with credits at the bottom ect...

The best thing I could find were people on ebay selling "prints" of the original poster. Bascially, they are low quality images that are spit out of ink jet prints. Not good. Can anyone help me? Don't want to buy an original for big bucks and then destroy it by cutting out just the Hoffman image. Thanks!

Pretty much if you don't want to spend the money to go with an original you will be forced to buy a reproduction that is generally produced in-house, which in most cases are just ink jet prints. You can try AllPosters.com and search for Straw Dogs and then select "Poster" which will get you a 27x40 "copy", nothing more nothing less, and chances are it will show fold lines in the image since they probably scanned an original which was folded and then their digital copies will be rolled but will have fold lines in it. Its probably the only way to go that is fairly inexpensive.

So, being a Wes Anderson fan I must say that I love the latest poster for Moonrise Kingdom. I'll have to try to find it for cheap sometime in the near future.

Yeah, I actually looked into Allposters before. Just didn't want one of those cheesy prints. Plus, like you said, it will have the folds. Something tells me I'm goinna have to buy an original. Have my eye on one for $150. Thanks for the info though.

So I have been looking into framing a 27x40 poster of mine and I didn't realise how pricey they could get. Honestly I'd hate to throw it in a $20 frame from Walmart.

I went to Hobby Lobby today and for some reason they had to custom make a 27x40.

$27 for the frames
$36 for the cut glass
I forget how much for the acid free backing....

Does that sound reasonable or can i get a better deal somewhere else?

I thought about trying Michaels but havent made it there yet...

Okay so what would be THE place to buy movie posters online, preferably in Europe? I'd love to buy vintage ones but unfortunately due to my budget I'll have to go with the reprint route for now. I'd appreciate if someone could be so kind and recommend an online seller with a good reputation and high quality prints. I've bought some reprints from allposters.com but thought the print quality was seriously lacking, e.g. blacks were more like grey.

I'm especially interested in picking up these posters(size 11x17 to 27x40):

The prices are reasonable. I think most of my frames are from Wal-Mart. I think i paid $20-24 each. If you go to Michaels I am sure you are going to be paying more. Not sure on the price of the acid free backing.

Should I try to pick up a Hunger Game poster. Just beacause the movie is going to be big. The poster does look nice but I have no need for it.

Why buy something you have no need for? I'm sure you could save the wall space for a poster you really want.

Who knows. Maybe one day it will be rare like Star Wars and I could say I have one. I don't think it will ever be that rare but I am just saying "what if"

Technically we could say that about most things. But then you are just buying for that "what if" instead of for fun. IMHO though
