Looking for help finding a poster myself. It's the final 1-sheet for the Dark Knight Rises...but I'm hoping to find it "bus shelter size," approx. 40" x 60."

Only luck I've had so far is moviegoods.com but their customer service basically acknowledged upfront that it's a reprint blown up to that size - which makes me concerned about resolution.

Anyone spots one for sale please let me know!!! THANKS!!!
You won't find the final style for DKR in a 40x60 size unless it is a reproduction which is what you will find with most of what MovieGoods (and their other websites they sell under) offer. It would be nice if MovieGoods stressed to their customers that their items are reproductions, so many people think their posters are originals when they aren't. But the image in question only appears on the actual movie poster, not the bus shelter ones which there will be three character bus shelter posters that I was told are due out in the next few weeks so you probably will see those popping up around major downtown cities soon.

Hey Kinsella,

Have you seen any of the "prometheus" lenticular posters? I have seen a couple for sale on ebay, but would be afraid if they were real.

I don't know if there are fakes of lenticulars or not....

Are they the 11x17 ones? If so, those were handed out at the WonderCon 2012 convention Prometheus panel in Anaheim California and everyone who attended got one for the film. I don't know of any full-size ones for the film.

Yeah I just took a look and it appears FOX did do a full size lenticular. Since they made the smaller ones for the WonderCon panel, it doesn't surprise me that they made a full-size one. It will probably be quite rare and hard to find, anything for FOX is difficult to get. The Avatar lenticular was quite hard to get too, so if you end up wanting the Prometheus one and you can get it for under $500, I think that is a good deal.

Thanks K5...kind of what I thought.

I really want to replace my current bus shelter size framed poster (Last Samurai) with something Dark Knight Rises...but I really prefer the real deal!

PLEASE keep me posted ALL- if you DO see a bus shelter size TDKR up for sale, "Rise" character poster, or whatever! I still want one!!!

THANKS

I have heard there would be three different bus shelter original posters produced that should be out in the next few weeks in major downtown cities. I would have to assume they are the standard bus shelter size of 48x70 or 48x72 inches but I have some other non-Batman bus shelter posters in my inventory that I thought were larger than that. What I can tell you is that any bus shelter poster is difficult to get because unlike movie posters where theater employees generally keep, destroy, send back, giveaway, bus shelter posers aren't promotional items inside a theater, which means they are kept in locked frames at bus shelters so what that means is you don't find many of them floating out there for sale. Generally they are up for over a month and depending on the weather, some can get faded from sunlight, etc. The installers don't treat them that well either, when they are finished I am unsure what happens to them, possibly sent back or destroyed, it's hard to say.

For Dark Knight Rises, I believe the three images below will in fact be the bus shelter posters, as you can see the artwork is different than what appears on the actual theatrical movie posters:

I sent you a PM, but if its just the Batman you are looking for, check on eBay around the time the film is released or a few weeks before, and then again about a month or so after the film has opened, some people that have access to the bus shelters may offer them online, but make sure you ask about condition as they can get mishandled by installers, etc.

Just a quick noob question. Can I store my posters in frames or is it better to store them rolled up in tubes? Also, I have the acid free backings in my frames but do I really need UV glass if the posters are hung in the basement where there is no direct sunlight? Thank you.

Either way you should be fine. I have both posters framed but also have them individually rolled in plastic poly tube tubing with a sticker acting as a label so I know which poster is which. You should be ok with the standard glass or standard plexiglass if you have them up in a basement with no direct sunlight.

The best source I know is our very own member Kinsella5. He ships the posters very safely and his prices are extremely reasonable depending on the rarity of the poster of course. He sells only originals so if you don't care whether it's a reprint or an original you might look elsewhere. Most reprints will be cheaper but quite often originals can be purchased just as cheap as a reprint when the film is new. He does not have a website, but you can message him here with any poster requests.

Scored that McCarthy E.T. poster on Mondo today...first one since Tron back in January. I was starting to think i'd never score again on the new site but finally got through on one.

Hey everybody,

I went to my local theater here in AL and I spoke to the manager about their posters. Several of the employees said that they just throw the posters away when they are done with them. So I went to the manager and asked, and he game me some line about "The posters are copyrighted so we have to destroy them and can't give them to the public".

Has anyone else heard of this BS? I didn't believe him but I didn't feel like arguing either.

Sounds like BS to me, I've bought posters from my local family "2nd run" theater before and was never told anything about copyrights. And I've seen posters for sale at the local Regal theater, but never bought any from them cause of the price ($5-$10 range).

They're not supposed to sell them. They can give them away but not sell them to the public. At least that is what I understand.
