It sounds like it is in fact a legit poster for IMAX theaters, the same studio has been known in the past to do IMAX exclusive full-size one sheets for previous films such as Inception, Watchmen, Where the Wild Things Are, and generally they are very difficult to obtain because there aren't as many out there so finding originals of this new DKR style will be tough. This makes for the domestic release two advance styles, one final style, and this new IMAX style.

I am pretty sure I sent you an private message a week ago or so in response to your posting on the thread about missing a Dark Knight poster for your collection, was curious which style you were missing?

Hey Kinsella,

Quick question on the new TDKR Imax Poster. I read over on TDKR thread that the new poster will be given out to all of the people who attend the midnight release at an imax theater. Is that accurate? If so, I need to buy midnight tickets now lol.

Thanks in advance!

Some pretty sweet posters over at emovieposter. Watching 32 auctions right now. Mostly Special vintage Star Wars ones but they'll make a great addition to my collection if I can manage to get them.

Missed out on some really awesome and rare rolled one sheets by less than 24 hours because I didn't know about the site

No, I highly doubt this poster will be a giveaway. As I mentioned before in a post, it's not uncommon for Warner Brothers, the studio, to print up an IMAX exclusive movie poster to promote the film's release in IMAX theaters that features different artwork. They did the same thing for some of their films in the past, such as Inception, Where the Wild Things Are, Watchmen, and others.

While there seems to be a midnight exclusive giveaway now for higher profile films, nothing has been announced yet for DKR, but it would not surprise me if one is made available to fans, but I highly doubt it will be an actual movie poster. It could be a mini version poster or print that features the same artwork or something completely different.

Vintage Star Wars brings back memories, I remember back around early 1999 a collector from England called me to buy some Phantom Menace posters and we ended up talking and by the end of the conversation he had purchased my set of original Star Wars posters from the three films and my signed Revenge of the Jedi one-sheet. He made me an offer I couldn't refuse, man that was a good day.

I see that as well. Trying to play catch up with everything that has been lost. Plus, work has been extremely busy the last few weeks. I blame the heat not the selection of movies.

I was looking for this poster but I think a buddy of mine was going to give me his. He swapped his out for the final one. The poster is a little damaged but nothing to visible.

Do you know anything about The Amazing Spider-Man poster with spider-man and Gwen on it. I saw it as the main image for IMDb but at this poing assumed it is only an IMAX poster or bus shelter.

I think what they are going to be passing out are the mini one sided sheets. We had about 500 of the final version two weeks ago. We try to pass them out kids but anyone is able to have them.

Oh I thought you were looking for a poster from The Dark Knight (2008), that image is the The Dark Knight Rises advance style "A". For the record, there were two advance styles released, one final style, and one IMAX exclusive style for DKR, along with four different bus shelter posters.

Regarding Amazing Spider-Man, I the one you are describing is a bus shelter but not 100% sure on that. Last night one of my contacts called me up and said he has an international Amazing Spider-Man poster available but could not find an image online to show me, so he is going to take a photo of it and email it to me. I know the international versions say "Coming Soon" at the bottom and he confirmed that, as well as it being glossy UV-coated, but said the artwork is different than what he has seen on sites like IMPAwards, etc so I am curious what style he has.

Yeah those 11x17 mini posters tend to be really common, but some people tend to put them on eBay thinking they are really rare.

I am looking for the Joker teaser from Dark Knight (2008) but that poster is a little out of my price range. I almost purchased it for
[Show spoiler]$150
back when the movie first came out. Since then I kind of lost interest or didn't want to pay the price. It has always been something I wanted but I have other thing I would rather try to pick up.

I wonder if it was the IMAX Lizard poster they picked up. The only other poster I have seen is Spider-man on the side of the building.

So many images and banners for the new Resident Evil movie but no posters yet. That has been driving me crazy. The movie comes out in a little more than 8 weeks. I am guessing the are only going to release one poster for the movie and it will be the rated version.

I will PM you regarding the Dark Knight Joker teaser on the off chance you still want to get one. Lots of fakes (even double-sided ones too) out there of that style so you have to quite careful when it comes to them. $150 is about low average for an original, the cheapest I have seen other dealers offer it for is $200, some as high as $350.

I don't believe the Spider-Man one is the Lizard, he said there was a cityscape on the poster, but he checked all the images on the IMP site and none of them were it. I am waiting on an actual photo from him of it.

Resident Evil will probably just see the one style released, does it have the credits on it? More than likely it will be just the one style and that's it, but remember not all movies have more than one poster, I mean look at a blockbuster such as Avengers, they only made two different poster (that are studio-issued originals that is) for it, and I would say that was a bigger release than Resident Evil.

Actually there hasn't been a theatrical teaser poster even released for the film which is quite odd since it is expected to be one of the biggest films of the year. I had heard the first teaser poster was expected out in January of this year, a few weeks after the first trailer appeared in theaters, but here we are nearly the middle of July and not a single poster yet. More than likely this giveaway will be a smaller poster, perhaps 11x17, but maybe 27x40, but doubt it will be double-sided, can't imagine the studio putting that much money into a giveaway poster. Hopefully we see an actual theatrical poster soon though....

Well hopefully I won't get in trouble for posting this because I can't self-promote here on the forum, but I have been in the original movie poster business for 20 years.

That's a lovely Hobbit poster... it's a shame it's a Comic Con exclusive and, as Kinsella5 speculated, likely not double-sided and maybe not even 27x40. There's quite a nice movie poster shop in Toronto that sells most theatrical posters, and I've been eagerly anticipating a Hobbit poster to add to my collection.

That would be movieposter.com on leslie. Great shop, friendly people. I pretty much buy from them and Kinsella. It is really nice to be able to flip through Movieposter.com's selection in their store and to see the latest movie posters hanging up, their prices are generally pretty good when posters are first released but Kinsella is always worth a PM as his prices are fantastic even when shipping from the states is considered.
