Though this week Michael's has a 60% +10$ off coupon which should bring that price down significantly. I'll report back tomorrow with a final price.
One thing to be cautious of regarding Michael's, is I believe they got in trouble over their discount coupons for custom framing, because basically they were charging more for what they regularly would charge and then would deduct the coupon amount from it, bringing it down to what they would charge any other time without a coupon or close to it. I remember reading about it online not too long ago.

Thanks Kinsella. I sent them an email. After that I'll call. In the meantime I'm going to call the theater, though I've been told in the past the old we have to destroy them line.

I love the Rambo poster. It's to bad there isn't a company commissioning work for older movies and releasing double sided prints. I would love to get some of the films prior to 1988, and a lot even into the mid 90's, double sided.

I know the New York State attorney general went after them. I believe there were other states as well. When I was quoted their "discount" price I nearly laughed my way to the door. No thanks, I'll do my own matting and framing at a fraction of their discount. I should say they are fair on the materials though. (matboard, foam core)

Are you going to be getting any posters from Comic-Con, Kinsella?

Slightly confused by the second part, did you mean you are trying to get some of the posters from before 1988 and some of the mid 90's ones double-sided or you wish you could prints of them?

I may ask a few people who are going if they can get any but honesty I think eBay will be flooded with them, and it's still unknown if the giveaway posters are full-size or mini versions.

I went to HoLo today and saw some 11 3/4 x 36 frames that'll make that Englert Walking Dead print look gooood but is that a size that's gonna fit a 12x36 print? I'm thinking it probably will despite it being a quarter-inch short.

I was thinking about the example of your Rambo. An old movie with newly commissioned art released as a double sided poster. Also I was thinking about re-issued old posters being double sided yet retaining the original art.

Well studios do from time to time re-release an older film and either make a new poster for it or they make a poster using the original artwork. In the case of the First Blood one, they did use the original Struzan artwork though. One of my favorite re-release posters is for Shawshank Redemption's 2004 release for the 10th anniversary, and Blade Runner: Final Cut which was the 25th anniversary screening, again both by Struzan. The Star Wars films re-release styles were always pretty cool too, the original trilogy, not the prequel films.

What's a fair market value for Shawshank and Blade Runner? Are they easy to come by? I see some listings on ebay, but you never know.

When it comes to original movie posters, eBay is NOT the place to their value. While eBay is really good for certain things, when it comes to collectibles, so many knockoffs, reprints, and the like are on there, and eBay does nothing about it. That goes for many other collectibles too, eBay is flooded with knockoffs and even if you report the item, they don't seem to get taken down because eBay doesn't have a way to explain why someone feels it's authentic or not when you report it. eBay is really only concerned about profits, as most companies are. We are the people who made eBay what it is today, but our voices go unheard when it comes right down to it.

While there are original movie posters being sold on eBay, by some reputable dealers and individuals, the majority of the people selling posters on there have no clue what it is they are selling. They get a poster themselves from a theater or a friend, and slap it on eBay. What they consider "mint", in actuality is really "fair" or "good" condition. Misrepresentation in condition is commonplace on eBay, take for example a very own member here on this forum overseas who purchased an Avengers final, as advertised as "brand new" but when he received it was full of scratches and poorly packed. I heard that constantly from people who buy from eBay, so when it comes to judging a poster's value, don't check with eBay.

For Shawshank I believe only double-sided were made, and the re-release was only for about two weeks in theaters to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the film and also the 10th anniversary DVD release. Near-mint/mint unused ones should fetch $75-$100, but will steadily increase over the years as the poster is quite rare because it was a limited engagement, featured new artwork by Drew Struzan, and the film has a huge following, including myself as its one of my all-time favorite films ever.

For Blade Runner: Final Cut, another Struzan piece, initially the 2007 screening was supposed to be at one theater in Los Angeles for one night, and one theater in New York for one night. The studio didn't think there would be enough demand for a multi-city screening but they were wrong and after they realized it, they put the film out in about a dozen more cities. Double-sided authentic Blade Runner: Final Cut posters are very rare, and the studio also issued single-sided originals too. One thing I notice when comparing both is the paper stock for the double-sided ones is thicker, and collectors prefer double-sided over single-sided, but affordability single-sided ones are cheaper. Also reprints are out there, we all know that. My guess is in a few years, if not sooner, those dealers who have double-sided ones will sell-out and then the only ones out there will be the ones in the hands of collectors, some will part with them, some won't. Price-wise, double-sided tend to be around the $125-$150 price range, and I suspect these will go up in value more than likely faster than Shawshank will. Also with a Blade Runner sequel in development, demand for original Blade Runner posters will hit closer to that film coming out. Single-sided originals actually can fetch a lot as well, I have seen them at nearly $100, but a realistic price is around the $75 price range, perhaps a bit lower. But as double-sided getting harder to find and more expensive, it will drive collectors towards single-sided originals because they are more affordable.

I have a very limited stock of both on hand, but I know when I run out, in all likelihood I won't be able to restock them. You really can't go wrong with either poster, they both are quite beautiful to look at, I miss the Struzan poster days.

Yeah that will be sold at SDCC, any extras will eventually be sold online. Unsure if Mondo will offer any online at the same time, I would have to imagine some of the 15 different prints will though.

That's an easy pass. Kind of disappointing IMHO. I read somewhere else that they will put any leftovers from SDCC online for sale, but I doubt they will have a problem selling out of prints at SDCC.

Up on ebay already. A BIN of $450 for both the standard and variant doesn't sound too crazy. Another standard is up to $180 with < 24hrs.

Welcome to the digital age, where people are walking up to his booth, saying how bad they wanted the print and how great it is, and then turning around and with their smartphones listing them on eBay within seconds. LOL!
