The V print is a bit to busy for my tastes but it's cool to see Mondo add another artist to their stable. Hopefully V fans will be able to get one, I imagine this isn't the most flippable print which will help.

I think the film is quite good, in fact, I would say it's the Wachowski's best work outside of The Matrix.

I might try for this if I'm free around lunchtime, but I'm not sold that it will ever make it up on my wall... interesting composition and certainly detailed, but it almost makes me dizzy looking at it.

they should release the V poster on November 5th.

Looks like fan art you'd see on reddit or superpunch.

You will have more luck on eBay and the prices probably won't be that much more than the initial price, sure you will pay more, but not too terribly much more.

Sheesh, the V posters are already shipping. Wish they did that for every print.

It could be me but it seems that a lot of people are buying them to flip them. It really sucks if you are a collector. Sure there is the thrill of the hunt and trading with other members etc but to see people on ebay asking damn near $100 for a $35 poster is ridiculous. It almost makes me not want to be bothered!

Sorry if this is out of context for this particular thread, it just seems like the most viewed poster thread... and thus the best place to inquire.

I really want one of these Great Gatsby posters...

But as far as I can tell they were never actually printed... I've asked all of the movie theatre employees that I know, and nobody can verify that there theatre ever did or did not recieve that poster.

Can anybody in this thread tell me whether or not that image actually exists as a poster? And if so where I might begin to procure a copy?

Thanks

I dont think so. Mondo ships Priority Mail within the United States, and at the weight of the tube, and distance, it actually can cost them around $10.40 or slightly less to ship those out. They then have the cost of the tubes and packaging material so I highly doubt they are making any money on the shipping charges. It can be quite expensive to ship a poster, sure you can get a cheap tube and toss the poster in and pray the poster arrives intact (cough cough..Disney Movie Rewards) or you can pay a bit more and have it ship in strong tubes with a fair amount of concern for the poster and the buyer.

When I ship, I charge about that domestically, but I tend to over-package my orders to customers, some say a package from me can be tossed out of a plane and the poster survive the impact. I just want to make sure it arrives in the same condition as it when leaves my hands, I'd expect the same from a seller as well.

I believe that image was released and websites started referring it as the first teaser poster, but I don't believe it was an actual poster either, I think it was just a promotional image, nothing more, nothing less. But that won't stop some poster dealers from taking the image and making their own posters, I think everyone knows what I am talking about here.

Trust me, a $100 for a $35 print on eBay is nothing new, and is considered pretty tame actually. Yes, I posted a few pages back about how I think it will slowly start shifting where some people will jump off buying the prints to flip, its only a matter of time. Print runs will increase to help meet "some" of the demand, but Mondo doesn't want to make thousands of each print, and rightfully so. They want to keep them "limited" and understandably why. Kudos to them for increasing the production runs though so more collectors can get them, but the supply will never be on par with the demand so they will generally fetch more than their initial price.

Dang... I suspected as much though. Thanks for the honesty.

I did finally just find an 11x17 print from moviegoods.com (https://secure.moviegoods.com/movie_...atsby_2013.htm)... featuring the updated release date interestingly enough.
I'm a graphic designer by trade, so I'm generally rather picky... and I'm basically expecting to be disappointed by this print somehow especially since it's just 11x17 size to begin with... but for just under $20 shipped I'm willing to take that chance this time I guess.

Yeah that pretty much sums up the dreck acid riddled low DPI garbage print I am expecting to receive from them.
It pained me to actually order it, but at least I can justifiably throw it in a dirt cheap frame and display it in a sunny room and not feel bad about it.

Unfortunately the more that people buy stuff like that, the more they will continue to put that garbage out there. Studios do make 11x17 mini single-sided posters that some theaters get to give away but knowing their history, MG's simply printing them up themselves. I could be wrong, they could have a contact to get these freebie mini versions but its the boy who cried wolf mentality, after awhile you just can't believe what they have to say.

If by some strange chance it's of acceptable quality I will report back as such... otherwise...
