Generally speaking $100 for a Mondo print that sold out in < 5min the day after release is pretty fair. If you wait 2 or 3 months that price could certainly go down if the interest doesn't stay high.

In general though, I'm rather shocked at how few of these prints are on ebay, my search is showing 9 for sale right now, where as the JP from last week had 40+ for sale. I believe the print run was higher on the JP but in general I'd say a good percentage of these prints landed in the hands of collectors, I'd say that is great.

Not wanting to derail this thread but I have to vent. There is someone selling the V poster and they are charging $35.00 for shipping....I'm not mad at anyone getting their hustle on but I'll be damned $35 for shipping is gouging......SMDMFH

How much is the poster and where is it coming from???

Ebay has been cracking down on sellers who sell for (let's say) $5.00 and then charge $50.00 for shipping.

It is the internet equivalent to a bait and switch although not quite as harsh since you can clearly see the price difference but you get the idea.

I know I had a poster up for sale recently and had listed a shipping price of $50 over seas and $25 to the states... shipping from Canada is really expensive, people asked for quotes on shipping from the UK, Germany and France and when I got them the post alone was $42+. On the US side they were in the $15+ range, so I missed that estimate, but as a seller I'm always willing to listen to a buyer who asks me to consider reducing my shipping price. Ebay forces you to put something in there and I'd rather error on the high side.

I don't see fault with your logic but this guy is in Texas and he is charging $35 for shipping....He brought the poster for $35.....and he doesn't have a clue that charging the price of the poster for shipping when he paid 15 to ship it originally .....at the most he will inspect it for damages and seal it back up and cover the original shipping label.....his time worth that much? Perhaps it is, perhaps it isn't. I still think he is gouging......and even if he didn't know what to put in as a shipping price why did he think doubling+ what he paid for shipping as anything remotely reasonable?

Does anyone know where you might be able to find this poster? Or if this indeed even is a poster or if this is more of a lobby card or promo piece Sorry for the long question just saw the image online and thought it was awesome

ebay charges fees on shipping now (which is BS if you ask me), but it's to prevent folks from doing the $1 item, $50 shipping method.

Yeah man...looks like a pretty steep "handling" charge.

I guess it just depends on how badly you want the poster.

Somebody didn't mind.

I'm still trying to find one of The Wolverine Teaser posters for less than 80.

That image is quite clearly of an upcoming statue/toy doll based on the character, not a movie poster or anything else. Toy and statue companies are slowly releasing their images of product tie-in's for the film.

Kinsella is right...HOWEVER...if you want that poster, you would probably have to make a friend in your local collector's shop and then offer that person some money to keep it for you OR find it on ebay.

Posters of upcoming statues are not impossible to find...they can just be expensive because their demographic rarely thinks twice about the poster once the statue is released. I like to put the posters behind my statues whenever possible.

I will admit that based on the auction, the seller is charging $40.65 for Priority Mail shipping within the United States, and yes that is beyond absurd. Priority Mail shipping would be around the $15 price point and if the seller was to add insurance and delivery confirmation I could see justifying charging $20 for Priority Mail, however, no mention of it in his/her item description so one has to assume it isn't shipped with delivery confirmation or insured. This person is $25 too high and when you encounter sellers such as this, my advice is to report them officially to eBay, especially when the auction is still running.

To do so, scroll down about half way or so and on the right hand side you will see "Report Item" which you would want to click. In this case, you would select "Listing Practices" from the first drop-down box, then select "Other Listing Practices" in the second box, and finally "Shipping-related charges" from the third box. Then click "Continue" and "Submit Report".

What will happen? It's really anyone's guess. eBay technically should research it and have staff who know what it doesn't cost $40.65 to ship a poster tube within the USA (seller offers no international shipping) via Priority Mail. In this case, the auction is over, but reporting it may result in a strike against the seller's account and a warning. But at the same time, while they may cancel the transaction, the order probably has already been paid for by the buyer, the benefit to the the seller is the order goes through and would get a refund on the final auction value fees, but at the same time, if eBay was to do anything about it after the fact, at the very minimum it would make the buyer rethink charging that much in the future.

In the end, yes what the seller is charging is wrong.

That is assuming it's a poster to begin with. The image could be nothing more than the box art or simply a promotional image of the statue released online by the manufacturer, and not a poster at all.

eBay is more focused on their back end than enforcing their own policies. The amount of counterfiet/bootleg, and more than likely stolen items, being peddled on there is staggering. eBay taking a cut of shipping charges is an outrage, especially when eBay dictates what a person can charge for shipping in certain categories, but then when it costs more than what they allow a seller to list, the seller loses money and that doesn't include eBay's cut of the shipping charges which means the seller loses even more money. eBay should not be in the business to take a cut off the shipping charges, period. It's more than enough that they make 10-12% off the final auction value fee as well as in most cases the listing fees, but then to take a portion of the shipping charges is simply wrong.

Personally I feel rather than going after those sellers who charge $50 for shipping and put a Buy it Now of $1 on an item, they look at it as, "Oh well we will get them in the end by taking a cut of the shipping charges so we win regardless". No, what they should do is penalize the sellers who overcharge for shipping instead of screwing over all the honest sellers on there. And the feedback forum? Don't get me started on that, it's so one-sided it's sickening and is slanted to benefit buyers, and craps on the sellers. The feedback forum should be a level playing field and it hasn't been in years.

Ok, sorry for the rant, forgot for a second this was a poster thread.

It's 14 shipped from mondo so he's prob trying to cover mondo and his shipping charge also.. To ship with confirmation and insurance on a print its around 16 to 20 depending on value. Also eBay takes 2 fees now final value and a shipping fee... I'm not defending him at all lol but just some insight.. Is it express shipping? 20 is kind of high for that print 17.50 is perfect but for 35 just don't buy it

School, if you look at the auction, you will see there is no justification for what the seller is doing. Charging $40.65 for Priority Mail domestic shipping is $20-$25 too much. Seller didn't offer international shipping and Priority Mail was the only option. Chances are the seller is someone who knows very little if anything about Mondo prints, and simply buys them to flip and probably doesn't even open the tube to pull out his receipt. Seller should just have listed it for $99.99 with free shipping, since it probably much would have been the same and probably would have gotten more bids, but chances are a lot of potential bidders saw the shipping charge and skipped it.

can anyone recommend places to look for posters? I looked at allposter.com ( heard horror story's about them) just yesterday I found thanks to this post moviegoods.com, but was hoping to see where the best & safest place would be to buy posters?
