He had announced his retirement in late 2008, the last posters he did was for the 4th Indiana Jones film, but has said that if asked to create a poster for friends of his, he would still do one. Frank Darabont asked him to do one for The Walking Dead television series and he did, in fact, you can purchase one of the limited edition signed and numbered ones via the AMC store website. It is a full size 27x40 inch poster on heavy stock, only 100 are being produced, price is $500. While I have never met him personally I have enjoyed his poster work for 30 years, and his new book is worth every penny.

His poster for Blade Runner: The Final Cut and the re-release of Shawshank Redemption are two of my favorites. Also the advance for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is another as well. So many beautiful posters, such a rare talent, in my opinion that is.

I know exactlly what you mean. When I walk into my apartment, the first thing I see are my three 27x40 movie posters and that tells me I am in my little home theater and will be wowed in a few moments by my Blu-rays on my 950.

Thanks SpyderDan!

I finally got time to go get some estimates (from Michaels, JoAnn & AC Moore). For what I want we're looking at $200 minimum for framing. GADZOOKS!! I had no idea it would be this much. I'm shell shocked. I guess everyone goes through that? I want UV glass, nice frame and good backing a decent mat. Guess I better start saving up!

On a side note: how long it too long to keep a print in a cardboard tube? Thanks guys!

Was that quote from Michaels before coupon or after? As I mentioned in their Sunday ads they generally have a coupon for a discount off framing as well as a discount off products. You can go the professional framing route, or you can go with a standard frame that is not of the highest quality components but more affordable, generally around $30 before the coupon too. If the poster is in a cardboard tube loosely meaning the poster is placed in the tube and fanned out so it rests against the inside of the tube, it is hard to say, a few factors can play a role, such as the condition of the environment it is (sitting in the sun, is the tube in a closet where it is cool and dry, etc). Cardboard is very acidic and can sometimes cause staining of the poster after a while, but it takes a while to do that.

I think it was somewhere in this thread I read the suggestion to use my disney reward points on posters. Well, who ever suggested that, thank you 100x over. I just got Wall-E and Lion King in yesterday, both are beautiful full sized 27x40 double sided posters. I put the Wall-E in my lightbox and I am beside myself at how great it looks. I don't own a lot of posteres and I'm pretty picky about the ones I do own but I think I have a new favorite

for what it's worth, this is where I buy all my movie posters from. You can select by size, type...double sided or not...original/reprint..etc...etc, etc...

Yes the Disney club does send out original double-sided movie posters for points as they carry the extra stock left over from the theatrical release print run so if you have points, and you see something on their site, grab it now before it's gone for good because I don't believe they restock any, so it is "while supplies last". One thing you have to be careful of is their packaging, I have heard they send the posters in a flimsy tube, with the end caps not taped on and no protection against the sides of the poster tubes so the poster could slide and cause damage in transit. But the club doesn't see these as going to "collectors" but more than likely to those who are going to tack up in a child's room, and they should not think that way since their posters are quite valuable and hard to find.

Yes, a long thread, some actually say it is informative too.
I don't have any big issues with MoviePoster.com, they are a good dealer but they need to properly title their posters (i.e. advance vs final, domestic vs international, etc). They are more informative than most others though and offer up a good selection of originals and reproductions for those on a more limited budget.

Hey my friend, any good posters coming out?

I am a picky buyer like probably many other people on this forum, and i must have inquired on over 20 different movie posters from him. I never felt any pressure to buy and jon was always quick to respond to my emails and questions. He tried to give me the best deal he could even as a first-time customer, and his prices on the popular and thus hard-to-find items were fair and usually better than i had found. I'm on the opposite side of the country as him so i received the posters in just about 1 week, triple-packed and in perfect shape.

For all of us in this hobby who are very particular about the shape and quality-level of our equipment, items, and accessories, i couldn't imagine a more positive or personal buying experience.

ditto!!!

If they can end up getting that, more power to them though. I have some of the advance teaser style movie posters signed by James Cameron, when I met him a few weeks back, I will be offering one on eBay for charity fairly soon.
Do you still have anything for Avatar?

You described the packing of my posters perfectly. I am happy with the condition they did arrive in, but I can certainly appreciate the potential for disaster.
