Got John Carpenter to sign my Shepard Fairey They Live print up at Horrorhound this past weekend here in Cincinnati. I got a few sigs from Michael Rooker and Scott Wilson on my Englert this is my farm print also but the Norman Reedus line was like a 3 1/2 hour wait so I said forget that one this go around since he seems to be doing a bunch of conventions this year. I'd like to eventually get as many Walking Dead cast members as I can on the Englert print but the crowds at Horrorhound were just so long and the convention seemed pretty unorganized with no sense of which line was for who.

John Carpenter was a really nice guy and Scott Wilson was such a great and friendly guy also and very personable. Rooker was funny but seemed like he was more up there for the women and I didn't get to meet any of the other cast that was there like Lori, Carl, Shane or Daryl and all of them from what I understood charged $40 for an autograph which I thought was pretty high but they are in demand right now so ehh and Carpenter only charged $30 which was good I thought. I only live about 15 minutes from the convention center it was held so I skipped Friday when the line was hours to get in and came back Saturday and of course it was still packed. I feel bad for the people who paid for hotels and travel that was turned away due to being sold out. I really hope the one in Indianapolis later this year is more organized.

Hey everybody! I just got my hands on the Iron Man 3 poster. I am gonna make a wooden frame for it myself. Any suggestions on the glass and backing for me?

If you got the theatrical double-sided poster that thing is huge, 27x40, so be prepared to buy a big piece of glass! You may also consider plexi glass or lexan to cut down on the weight. When looking at glass there is "museum glass" that you can buy that makes a remarkable difference in reflection and glare, but it comes with a cost. Backing wise, just make sure it is 'acid free'. You may want to look for some foam core which which can help press the poster into place.

I really like that Shepard Fairey print, cool that you got it framed. I never thought about getting my 'This is my farm...' print signed by the cast. I haven't framed it yet and I believe Norman Reedus is coming to FanExpo in August here in Toronto so maybe I'll start collecting signatures on it.

i only ask because i'll probably be buying my first artwork style poster (vlad rodriguez's blade runner) this friday and seeing how its my first piece of art, dunno if i should go something as basic as metal frame or some of the more expensive ones.
Plenty of framing options out there. Custom can be expensive, with most of these art prints being pretty big it just drives costs up. The cheapest frame job I've had done was still almost $200. I believe the print you're looking at is smaller so I'd hope you could find a better price. Other framing options, like simple single matte or no matte frames from Michael's, Ikea, Walmart, Target or such will be considerably less and depending on the look you are going for will look great. You could also consider the DIY framing option where you buy the frame and matting from an online retailer and put it together yourself. I'm pretty sure there is a link to an ebay seller in this thread somewhere who appears to offer good value. With shipping rates being more to Canada I haven't tried this route yet, I have done the other two routes and I'm happy with both. There are pictures of my prints framed throughout this thread.

Thanks. I figured since the Englert print has a ton of white border at the bottom i'd try to get as many signatures from the cast as I can over time. I wish that more of them would have been easier to meet that day but I only had a one day pass and it seemed impossible to meet them all by the time even one line was done so meeting just two of the cast members was an accomplishment to me lol. It seemed like there was so many girls there just to meet Norman Reedus and was kind of annoying but at least it cut down the line to meet Carpenter which is who I really went to meet anyway.

Congrats on meeting Carpenter, hopefully he gets that $30 price tag when the Calgary show comes around next month. They have a very impressive guest list and it appears that the organizers may move my booths in the same area where the media guests are, so if so, that means it will be easier for me to get over to Carpenter's area. I just got my James White "Thing" print in the mail, really nice, thinner paper than a screenprint, but I can't complain, its quite nice.

I wish that Horkey was nicer

I might take a stab at it tomorrow, I'll sleep on it.

Landed one of my ISOs I've been hunting since the Taylor/Stout show. 2 more to go. Still looking for an Attack the Block Variant w/ gold Ron handbill and a Drive LP w/ pink discs.

well i was cruising on ebay when i found the Ken Taylor Watchmen for only $65. made a bid to match up to $71. a very random spontaneous thing since i was set on a Vlad Rodriguez print. Ended up losing at the last second to $72

waas slightly bummed since all the others are near $100.

Now I'm torn what to get, Vlad emailed me saying he only has 1 Blade Runner and 2 Django ones. Then theres the Mondo GoT dropping tomorrow (dunno if i really have a shot, never bought any from there).

Those with the blade runner, are the colors actually that nice and bright?

IF that Kick-Ass 2 image is a poster, I would say it would be an international character advance, not a domestic one. I could be wrong, but generally the ones that just have the year tend to be international versions. But for all of you that are Kick-Ass fans, I do have some stuff from the first film available that are really unique. Not posters, but the actual theatrical vinyl banner which are new in the box, never displayed. I don't know of any other dealer who has them either, especially in their original boxes untouched. Below is the image of this vinyl theatrical banner:

I also have a set of five Kick-Ass character vinyl banners. I don't believe many of these exist, I think they were only made for the large movie theater trade-show that occurs each year and larger theaters but they are very large and probably impossible for the average collector to display. I don't yet have an image of this, they are all rolled in a large box, while I am slowly revamping my inventory when I have time I will see if I can have a few friends come over and unroll them so I can take some photos unless I can find stock images online. I "think" the images are the same as the character posters for this banner set.

If he is only charging $30 a signature, that would be quite nice. Other than the James White print, I have the Englert Thing print and if I win the lottery before the end of April, I will buy a Stout Thing print to have signed.

Vlad said he only has 1 Blade Runner and 2 Django ones? While I realize they are signed, they don't appear to be numbered, so I would have thought they would be open editions. I am not sure how licensing works for something like this since it is fan art (and incredibly art it is) but if he doesn't require a license, maybe he was given permission to print x amount of them and that's it.

Update: Blade Runner is sold out, just checked his site.

Yea I asked him a question and we started exgcangin email. I said I was interested in either one and that's when he said only one BR left which now is gone. Makes my decision easier. I think I'll try and take a stab at the GoT.

Just curious if you have any other artists for recommendation?
