About to frame my The Wolverine Teaser Poster (Thank you Kinsella!). I also am having my Noir X-Men framed right now ( Thank you Anties!).

I just did some research and found that there is a Weapon X Noir by Marko Manev as well. If anyone has one for sell or trade or knows where I can get one send me a PM.

Hey Kinsella, do you know if this was made into a 27x40 poster or is it just a promotional type thing.

I am not 100% sure, that may be the final style, but more than likely it could be a bus shelter style. I need to get posted my vinyl banners for the first Kick Ass, probably will post on eBay.

I just got advance movie tickets in the mail today and the post cards showed this image with credits, so I have to think that this is the final style but with credits. They also may be using this same image as a bus shelter style poster too. I never saw the first film, I was going to say if anyone here is in the Seattle area and wants advance screening passes to contact me but I don't think anyone on this thread is in Seattle, with Hellboy being the closest in Portland.

Okay. I've seen a standee of that image so far- but there a few double sided 27x40 versions of it on eBay. *shrugs* If they are true theatrical or not I can't say.

My guess is they are real, 95% or more of the stuff you see on eBay are people selling one or two posters, or a poster here and there that they take from a theater, or work for a theater themselves to make a few extra bucks. It is how they describe the condition and how they package them up for shipping is what I would be concerned about as well as if they are real, but chances are they are real, just be careful of the condition and packaging.

Gottcha. I just said that due to the issue with Star Trek: Into Darkness because I'm pretty sure someone got a fake on here sadly. It was double sided but lacked texture or it was a second final sheet like I saw with Wolverine where it was double but lacked all the TEXTURE of the original advanced poster.

If you can find the post where someone is claiming the received a fake for Into Darkness I would like to see it. Regarding originals, not all posters have glossy or matte finishes to them. I assume in your posting when you refer to the word "texture" you mean the glossy portion, correct? In the case of the teaser advance poster for Wolverine, the studio produced double-sided and single-sided originals. Both featured a spot-gloss design in that the black image of Wolverine was glossy, the rest of the poster was not. The paper was given the "look" of rice paper but it was standard poster paper. The advance teaser for Wolverine is VERY difficult to find. I don't know of any dealers who were able to get them in stock other than myself and I was only given access to the single-sided one which is glossy as mentioned above. MoviePoster.com did have the advance double-sided for $90 but they sold out.

The studio did release a final style for Wolverine that used the same imagery found on the advance, but added the credits but to my knowledge they did not make add the spot-gloss to the Wolverine image itself. I believe they only did that on the advance teaser.

The best way to determine the authenticity of a double-sided movie poster that is produced nowadays and over the past five years or so is look at the back of the poster. It should be a lighter shade than the front side, the only exception to this, again to my knowledge, is the IMAX exclusive style for The Dark Knight Rises.

I remember talking with someone on here that got an Into Darkness (posts and posts back) that did not have the gloss at all and it should have at the time. They never said it was fake just asking if it was. It could have still been original I just have the feeling it was not.

As for Wolverine. I have seen both the Advanced (Double sided) and Final (double sided) with the same art. The Advance had the gloss on Logan/Wolverine and texture of rice paper on white with the second (double) side just being an image. Yet the Final with credits had none of that- just a double sided image no gloss or texture.

It's hard in the poster bizz. I mean if its not in your hands it hard to tell what you are buying. I will help as many as I can with any info I can gather.

Remember not all posters are glossy, only some are. There are times when a studio wants to add the glossy aspect to a certain poster, sometimes to the entire image, sometimes to just a portion of the poster. Most posters are not "glossy" in nature. An example of this is the Iron Man advance teaser. There were glossy UV-coated ones double-sided and non-glossy double-sided ones. Both are original, the glossy ones are more sought after but are impossible to find. I had both, but the majority that I had were the glossy, I would say 90% of what I had were the glossy stock ones, and I still have them, but I did remember seeing some that aren't glossy at all.

For Wolverine, the teaser advance appears to be the only one that was glossy but only the black imagery of Wolverine featured the glossy coating, not the rice-paper looking background. Rice paper is extremely delicate and can easily be ripped/torn and damaged. I don't believe the studio used actual rice paper for the advance teaser, but seeing that I didn't get the advance double-sided in, I am only going based on what I have heard from those who have felt one in their hands and all have confirmed that its regular poster paper with a "rice paper-looking" background. The single-sided originals I got in are standard paper as well with the background on the front of the poster looking like rice-paper but Wolverine is in fact glossy on it. It's quite nice actually.

I have not seen or felt the final style in-person, I know it is the same image as the advance, and it has the credits at the bottom, but I believe the studio didn't add the gloss to it, only to the advance. For the record, Wolverine had two posters made for the domestic market, which was the advance and final, same artwork used. It did have a few international versions though with different artwork. 20th Century Fox is known at times to use the same imagery from an advance poster for the final style as well.

It's true I've seen both as well glossy and non that are original. It's hard because at times the studios release so many or so few (that's frustrating).

The Wolverine one I do own and its the 6-8mon old one advance. Gloss on Wolverine and rice paper texture on the white only on the front, double side back was just a flat non textured image. I have never came across a poster this cool as in texture. Very nice. Sadly I do need to frame it

I did want an international of The Wolverine but gave up on the high pricing. I had screen prints to buy.

Also when a poster is glossy on the front, it won't be glossy on the back, there is no point to making it glossy on the backside. So you won't find any with the glossy look/feel on the back of any posters. Every poster I have seen that is glossy is always on the front, with the standard paper finish on the backside.

That was me asking about the Star Trek Into Darkness poster a few months ago. It is still undetermined whether it is fake or not. The back is lighter but not by as much as DS posters usually are. It is not glossy. When I opened the tube there was a VERY stong smell of ink. Plus I purchased it on Amazon from one of those mass poster sellers. I really doubt it's real but who knows.

Regarding the glossy aspect, I have non-glossy advance, and I know 100% that mine are authentic, trust me on that. What makes you think the poster should have been glossy? Was it reported somewhere? Was the entire poster supposed to be glossy or a portion of it? Have you measured the poster side to side, top to bottom? The interesting comment you made was when you opened the tube and it smelled of ink. You said you purchased it from Amazon, what is the name of the Amazon seller? There would have been an address printed out on the tube label as well.

I remember we both got that poster around the same time, but not from the same person/seller. Mine has gloss on the destruction that surrounds Kahn.
I've never opened a tube that 100% authentic and smelled ink.
I have from some Amazon sellers (I got a Thor and Dark Knight) super fake, poor image quality and reeked of ink.

I see that there is a glossy advance on Amazon. The seller is asking $199 for it. I have seen the seller I purchased mine from mentioned here but I will PM it to you nonetheless.

I did see the one you mentioned on Amazon for $199.99. The seller who has it listed is extremely overpriced, more than likely they aren't in the poster business or have very little knowledge of it. The seller PosterHound isn't the one who is selling it, I know that seller and they are legit, it is their Amazon page, however, the seller who has it for $199.99 goes by the name "Anothermanstreasure". $200 for an Into Darkness advance is about $150 overpriced at this time.

Also, remember the advance teaser for Into Darkness had a domestic teaser style and an International teaser style. The domestic to my knowledge has the actual release date at the bottom, while the international teaser has "Coming Soon" at the bottom.
