Maybe many are looking at Mondo-Con as they did the first Mondo Mystery Movie. When that was first announced I think a lot of people didn't want to fly to Austin to see a movie that they had no idea in advance what it was, but then it turned out to be huge (Akira) and quite sought after. I suspect that when Mondo-Con does sell out, and then when the show happens, and people realize some really cool prints will be offered (assumptions on my part, no insider info implied) that people will then be upset that they didn't purchase tickets to attend. Maybe it is timing too, summer will be over, maybe a lot of people would have used up their vacation time up, schools would have started, etc.
I think it is timing, location and costs. I looked into it and on the cheap I probably couldn't do the trip for less than $1K and at that point I don't even have a print purchased. With 2000 people in attendance and most Mondo runs topping out at 500 +/- that would mean only a 25% chance of getting a print that you would really like. For me... if a print or two comes out of MondoCon that I really really can't live without I'd have to guess I'd be able to score those for less than $1K it would cost me to attend.

In addition to those thoughts, Austin Texas isn't exactly on my bucket list of places to visit and has zero draw for the rest of my family... all this adds up to a no go for me.

Now if they were able to bring in a director or actor to support the prints by signing... well then... I would find the cash in hurry... say like... Tarantino to sign a Pulp Fiction Stout poster

Edit: I totally made that last bit up as only an example of what it would take to get me out there.

Yeah all valid points. They did mention they would have directors there, would not surprise me if Robert Rodriquez is one of them as I think he lives in Austin, but could be wrong. Having QT there would be pretty cool, you know with Mondo they have some tricks up their sleeves and probably could pull that off getting QT there. But I have to assume they have some really cool announcements they have yet to have made. Justin did say in an interview that they want to make it easier for people there to get prints, or something along those lines, how they do it is beyond me.

Picked up a limited print by Miles Tsang at a Queens of the Stone Age concert on the weekend, it glows in the dark and I fell in love as it depicts the bar scene in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Does anyone know if there is a place to order the new "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" poster with Eva Green on it? I'm not sure if it'll be more available once the movie is released or not, but at the moment I'm having trouble finding it anywhere online other then on eBay and I'm not quite sure on the quality of the sellers.

Here's the poster I'm talking about.

Thanks for the help!

Thought I read that that posters won't be used because it was deemed "too sexual" for theaters?

That does look like the 'too sexy' version, but that made some changes to it that passed the grade and should be around to buy... It is the 'banned' one that would be kind of neat to get a hold of.

I'd love to have that poster but I'm sure my lady would not be too pleased. Then I had a brain fart.

The angel on the right shoulder said "I can keep it in the man cave"

The devil on the left shoulder said "But who do you expect to keep the man cave clean?"

Then I said to myself "if the poster is available I can get it and keep it in the tube for prosperity."

It is a good looking poster... I looked around E-Bay for it and nothing stood out to me as original. Wonder if Kinsella can get any? Even the 'approved' one looks pretty great, but the pictures of the Jessica Alba one looks good too.

Here is a link from Collider.

Yeah, I'm going for the banned version The ones on eBay are all unoriginal but at this point they are the only ones I can find. I might just pull the trigger on one of them. I also went through the whole "what will people think of me if I have this poster hung in my room" thing, but it's such an awesome poster!

You know what I would think if you had it hanging on your wall? "Awesome poster dude!"

That's what I like to hear!! Think I'm going to get it. If anyone questions it I'll just tell them it's rare and banned and all that stuff so I got it for "investment" reasons.

Speaking of Mondo prints ... where is the best place to pick up some of these up. Ebay seems to be the only place, but are crazy priced. I was looking for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles print.

expressobeans.com is really the best place to pick up prints. Or at least cross-reference the 6 month average price that expressobeans tracks to see if you are getting a fair deal on ebay.

Edit: The 6 month average on that print is $436.00! Holy smokes, no idea there was such demand for that print.

Awesome poster man! I completely got lost in the awesomness of the night at the QOTSA concert I went to that I forgot to pick up the poster until the concert was over and they were sold out...

I dont have anything on the new Sin City film, trying, but originals are getting difficult for all dealers to get. Mondo-Con is fast approaching I suspect there will be some nice prints offered there, still don't think the show has sold out, which is still quite odd to me.

If you were only out a few bucks, trust me you did quite well. From a dealers standpoint, the teasers and final style for X-Men: DOFP were very difficult to obtain. I was able to get both teasers but not the final style, only other poster dealer that I saw had them was movieposter.com in Canada and they were charging around $70 per teaser style in near-mint/mint condition. Anything 20th Century Fox poster-wise can be very hard to obtain, because so few actually get out there onto the secondary market. Of course I am not including the countless number of ones on eBay, many of which are taken or sold by theater employees or people who manage to get one there, often times not being in very good condition and the seller doesn't disclose it, or they fail to package properly, or the number of reprints and knockoffs that are up there as well. It's unfortunate that a collector has to really be cautious on there when looking for an original. But good job picking one up from a theater and only for a few dollars.

For the record Fox made the same styles for the domestic release as they did for the international release. The only difference on the two teasers is at the very bottom of the poster in the lower left corner in tiny letters on the international versions they state "International" and the style. On the final style, it's a bigger difference, the domestic has the credits, the international doesn't to my knowledge.
