You can always try eBay, it will defiantly get a lot of attention depending on the poster and condition, unsure which titles you have, but the pro of dealing with eBay is you can put them at a reserve price and not sell them if they don't get to the amount you want. The downside is eBay is also a haven for reprints and counterfiets so some may not think yours are original, I don't believe they were theatrical one-sheets but just single-sided promotional posters, so make sure you be as detailed in your listing that you can if you go the eBay route.

You may want to contact him directly and see if he has any copies available such as artist-proofs. Vlad is making a name for himself, he is a very talented artist.

Basically I'm wondering if the poster I received today is actually an official theater poster. It seems to be not as thick as my other posters. Do theater posters come ib different thicknesses? It does look very good, detailed, and is double sided. The poster is of Desolation of Smaug with Gandalf smoking his pipe with the other characters in the background if that helps any. Any information on the subject would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
It sounds like you ordered the final style (cast image) for Desolation of Smaug. It's not common for posters to come in different thickness as you stated, there are examples of when posters are printed on double grades of paper stock. For example the Blade Runner: Final Cut double-sided final style posters were done on a thicker grade of paper compared to the single-sided versions, both originals, but double-sided were clearly nicer and thus, rarer and more collectible.

There are some good honest poster sellers on eBay, the problem is they often get overlooked by the hordes of people selling reprints, knock-offs, etc. Who was the seller you bought from? A poster dealer or a private individual?

Sometimes a studio will put a UV glossy coating on the front of a poster, its not very common but when its done, it really makes the poster stand out. The Hobbit posters aren't glossy, but as the poster above mentioned, there was an Amazing Spider-Man advance teaser that was glossy, a few others that come to mind were the advance teaser for Wolverine, the teaser for Iron Man, Casino Royale, and others. You also have to be a bit more careful when rolling glossy posters too.

Quite nice, I assume you have his Star Wars one and more than likely an eventual ROTJ so you can have the entire trilogy.

Although they have been nice, in the past year or so, they have seemed to have become rather "cheaply" made. These aren't the ones with the bigger borders. So, I was wondering if there is company that sells poster frames, that might be on the expensive side, but are really durable and keep movie posters in great condition?

My second question is: I have had movie posters that have been hung in the basement of my house. The basement is a tad moist, so I noticed the posters have "wrinkled" and "creased" a bit. I was wondering if those creases/ wrinkles are permanent, or that they can be corrected by rolling them up and putting them back into the tubes?? Thanks!
Why is your basement moist? Do you have a water issue with it coming in? More than likely the creases/wrinkles are permanent and could be a result of the frames, but wet damp air isn't the best either for anything really, not just posters.

Well here in Indiana, we literally have all 4 seasons and with the changing weather conditions every few months, we have fluctuations in how warm and how moist the basements can be. That being said, most of the basements in Indiana require a dehumidifier. Unfortunately, this takes up a lot of power and has shorted out one of our power outlets, so we usually keep it off.

Over the years, these posters I had down there have wrinkled/ creased. I had a similar problem in my one bedroom apartment a few years ago with one of my other posters. My one bedroom had a moisture issue. I eventually put that poster back in a tube and left it in there for a few years and now it's back to it's original form. So, a month ago, I placed all of those "basement" posters back into tubes to see if they will do the same. I'm hoping the results are the same because I cannot re-purchase some of these posters at reasonable prices. Like, I have an Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom poster I purchased from the Lucasfilm Archives for $50 a few years back. This poster in general is rare and it was one of the basement posters. Again, this might be due to the slightly moist air down there or it's because of the cold temperatures. The temperature down in the basement is usually around 60 degrees.

Interesting. I do know that some of my framed posters do show ripples, mainly because they are loose between the glass and acid-free backing, the ripples can be annoying but it is something I have to put up with since I don't believe in dry mounting.

That may be my issue, just ripples because of the frame isn't tight enough to keep the poster in place. I just recently checked the tubes that contain the posters from the basement, and they seemed to have reverted back to their original form. Now I just have to wait till I can purchase those "archival" frames so I can preserve them!

Cap 2 teaser poster, the beat up shield one, is up at Disney rewards. Just redeemed one for 800 points. Sweet.

Take it to a professional framing store. If it's a cheap poster I just grab a cheap frame at walmart

Anything in particular I should ask for? Or just a decent frame and 'normal' glass will be fine? It isn't a cheap poster if that makes a difference.

Default Englert's Jurassic World SDCC Print

For those of you who are interested that Mark Englert print for "Jurassic World" that is being handed out at San Diego Comic-Con will have a standard edition that is limited to 500 copies and a variant edition limited to 100 which will be made available for sale online at some point. The standard edition is 24x36 inches, 7-color with 1 metallic printed on black paper.

Not much info on the variant yet, but Mark had mentioned in a post that people may want to follow @JurassicPark on Twitter for more info perhaps when and where the variant will go on sale.

For those wanting the standard edition who aren't attending SDCC, check eBay soon after the con, chances are people will have them up there, but make sure you read the auctions carefully and request actual images from any sellers to verify condition and how they plan on packaging it up. With 500 being made, surely some will be on eBay, unknown what they will fetch tough, Mark's got a growing fan base but 500 prints is a bit more than he usually does, so it may not be too expensive for people to pick up on the secondary market.

Update: Mark also mentioned online that an 11x17 version of his JP print will be handed out at SDCC as well, my guess is it will be on standard poster paper, not sure how many, I would assume a bunch of them since Universal wants to start marketing the film and SDCC is certainly the place to do so.

May I suggest you take a look at this website. Sue Heim is the go-to framer for all Hollywood's important collectors--- and a great person to deal with.

yeah, too bad Disney doesn't take great care when they pack the posters. I ordered that Cap 2 poster and the sides were mangled. After sending 5 emails intermittently for 2 months, I finally got a response back and they sent me a replacement. Luckily the poster was decent enough to display.

So just take care when ordering from Disney
