No, unfortunetly. If you notice they are all mounted. So they are prints I got plaqued. To me they look better. All originals I swap out in the lightbox.

Hey roar have you tried any of the "mom & pop" shops in your area? I got quotes in the same ballpark when I went to Michael's, Joann Fabric and AC Moore. I checked out a small frame a few towns over and the guy came in at around half the cost of the other stores even with their "This week only 40% off coupon" which they have all the time.

Also I've heard americanframe.com is decent too. You customize it on the site (or call them) and they mail the whole she-bang out to you.

I also got a quote from Michaels for triple matting at $290, it looked really sharp, I'm leaning that way. That's a per poster cost, so over $600 for framing!

That was with dry mounting, acid free matting and Anti-glare glass.
You should definitely check out hollywoodposterframes.com they have great deals and the frames are well constructed. Sue the owner will work directly with you to get the order right.

Thanks to DMR and Blockbuster, I amassed my massive collection of about 20 posters, all displayed somewhere in my house. I especially love the Blockbuster ones that look painted and came framed. I wish they were as easy to find as they were before.

Thanks for the suggestions guys...

I haven't found a small shop yet, just Michael's and "Framing & Art Center". I checked out the hollywoodposters website and their quick options show plexi glass rather than glass, and a 24x36 with single matting came to 104.00. No idea what it would cost with glass and multiple mats and shipping to Canada.

I should probably look around for a couple of more small shops in the area. I've checked a lot of web sites out, but pricing isn't really discussed on them, everyone wants you to go in for an estimate... some even want you book appointments, these aren't places that are sounding cheaper

If it's a cheap offset litho, no problem. But if it's a valuable poster you want to use archival museum mounting which does not use dry mounting. Dry mounting will destroy part of the value of the poster, if it has any.

Ya, I got that backwards again, I need to be careful on that... the one place I spoke to said they mount to a board with an adhesive that can be reheated and the poster removed with no damage... not that I really want to test that theory. I didn't ask Michael's how they do it.

I'm really not concerned about how they mount it, I never plan on selling or removing it from the frame... but... as I had mentioned in another post in here, there is no sense in doing damage to a poster if you don't have to, there are other options.

Default Thor "Final" Style

Here is the image for the final style for "Thor" which should start appearing up in theaters this coming week or the week following. This, as with the Thor advance, will be quite difficult for most to find, not including those taken from theaters and listed on eBay.

For those of you discussing frames and such, just make sure you DON'T dry-mount your posters, because if you do, any collectible value to them gets tossed out the window. Dry-mounting is a permanent process and devalues the posters because it alters the actual poster making them become part of the foam board material. Personally I recommend simply framing them loose between the glass/plexi-glass and the backing of the frame. Make sure the backing is acid-free if the poster is something you cherish, many of the pre-made frames come with a cardboard backing and cardboard is fairly acidic. If it is an inexpensive poster that you don't feel will be of any worth down the road, you can get away with the cardboard backing of even dry-mounting, BUT if you have something that is a collectible (for example a Dark Knight original, etc), then you will want to avoid dry-mounting, etc.

Hey Guys

Not sure if I can mention it in here, but I am thinking of selling my original Dark Knight Poster. I know it's original since I got it directly from WB. Reason I am getting rid of it is because my wife doesn't like having it displayed. So it's not much use to me if I don't. So I am accepting offers. PM with your best offer if your interested. It may have minor edge wear, but the rest is mint.

Congrats! Halloween is one of the greatest horror films made, and quite an interesting back story regarding the marking of it. Have you see this Halloween style?

Thanks! Ah yes the Methane Studio one. I was trying to track one down for the convention but couldn't get one at the right price.

With only 150 signed and numbered ones produced, and the fact that the Alamo didn't get approval/permission to show the film that night or make a print, these will continue to rise in value. I stuck my last one on eBay, if it sells, great, if not, it will in time. Not many of these pop up anymore on the secondary market.

I'm quite curious about banners, how would you go about hanging them up? if they are 3x9 feet.

I may not be able to afford any posters for awhile since I may have surgery soon *long sigh* I really want that new POTC poster... I hope I feel better before it comes out so I can buy it.

I do like the color of the poster. Don't think I will be a fan of the movie.

Banners I have found are for the discriminating collector who simply wants it just to have it, even if he or she have no way of displaying it. Generally the banners are on thick vinyl and are quite study and simply hanging it up with some hooks will work just fine. Some are vertical and some are horizontal, here is an example below of the Health Ledger as the Joker Dark Knight vinyl banner. Very thick vinyl, this is what some of the theaters (but not all) got in for the Dark Knight when it was released to promote in theater lobbies. At 8 feet tall by 5 feet wide, its not only extremely large, but also extremely cool. To give it some scale, to the right is a seven foot door frame, I took this photo for my customers to see just how big it is, banners are very unique, especially when they feature artwork not found on the actual posters which is the case for this Dark Knight banner.

Hope the surgery goes well, I am sure everyone is praying for a speedy recovery for you!

I hope to find some art by Drew Struzan. He is amazing at what he does. I wish I could get an original copy of Indiana Jones. Looks like I can buy a DVD from him for $100. Not really a fan of Hell Boy.
