Movie Posters Discussion Thread

Just wanted to chime in and say thanks for all the posts in this thread. I'm right at the point where I've finished framing, sheetrocking, painting, setting up the equipment, now I need to get some stuff on the wall.

I've measured and I have comfortable room for 4 - 27x40 and 3 11x17 posters. Still looking around at what I want to go for, not sure if I want a theme, like matrix/underworld or Indiana Jones/mummy or old school scifi or Hulk/Iron man/batman......

too many posters to choose from. Great thread!

Feel free to contact me if you are looking for authentic original movie posters as I have several hundreds of different titles available. I don't deal in reproductions, while some dealers cater to both originals and reproductions, I prefer to just offer originals for my customers. I have all types of genres available, from 1990 to current/upcoming releases.

I don't charge as much as some dealers do when it comes to original movie posters. Yes, some posters can be quite expensive, and there are factors involved as to why prices can get out of reach of some collectors, but overall most new releases around the $20-$25 price range for the double-sided authentic styles. Some dealers charge that much or more for reproductions too, so to a collector, or even the casual fan, an original for less or at the same price as a reproduction is the better way to go.

I'm thinking of possibly doing a matrix setup, though I like the original mummy poster. Also thinking of some more recently ones, like the 2003 hulk or iron man.

Hope I got this post to work right. I dont post images often enough to remember how to do it. But I just ordered these 3 originals. Well I think they are originals.

I'll contribute

My local printing shop has a huge poster in the storefront window, that looks really neat (art print of some guy ) either way, they're getting back to me with pricing for this....


Here's the catch... I plan on putting it up on the wall of my son's room, and just spray-adhesive it directly to the wall, and paint/nail a molding around it.....

The size they are quoting me for is 7.5' tall (leaving room for molding at the bottom/top) and 10' long.

It should make for a cool wall in his room.

I was thinking about doing his entire room in a cool wall-paper, but I hate wall-paper.

They called me back, and out of fear of copyright violations, they won't do this piece for me

They had quoted me $304 (it would be 3 sections, cut vertically)

Yes due to copyright violations you will be very hard pressed to find a place to make "reproductions" of copyrighted material such as Star Wars. Kinko's won't scan anything as well, they take all of that very seriously. My best advice if you want something like that is to check out some of the online poster sites that mainly deal in reproductions such as Art.com or AllPosters.com, etc. If you are looking for authentic movie posters, feel free to drop me a line.

To be honest I didn't want any of them. I bought so many Steelbooks DVDs on Ebay the past few months I earned an Ebay credit of just under $30 bucks only good on ebay to pay sellers who accept paypal. Since I am dead broke I figured Id see what I could get on Ebay and not spend real money.

The ones I really really want and am looking for are the Grindhouse advertising the double feature for Death proof and Planet Terror. As well as Clockwork Orange and either the Boondock Saints or Old boy not sure yet.

I would like to get away from the comic books ones for a while and have a full variety of film genres. I also want to hang them to hide the ugly speaker cables in my HT that are an eye soar from a mile away. Mental note next time "Do not get Monster THX cables for the back and side speakers."

But the 3 i posted above cost me less then $30 for all 3 and shipping. I figure if they are fake whatever it wasn't real money anyways. I suspect them to be fake because of how cheap they were and because it was bought on ebay. But who knows. You did say there wasn't a demand for them so maybe thats why they were cheap.

The only poster I had for the animated Final Fantasy films were the 2001 "The Spirits Within" film, but I sold out of them.

Chances are they are originals, but if you want to provide me the eBay links, I can check them out. If your Hellboy 2 is glossy, then I am quite sure they are authentic. Yes, that is a good price that you got, for all three of them, the only one that would be still popular would be the Hellboy 2 one. I sell those for $15 plus shipping, the other two I don't stock. All three of them should be 27x40 in size if that helps you determine if they are real, but I imagine they are.

Heres a pic of the Spiderman3 I got from you Kinsella5. The one that started it all haha. Its not a fancy framing job i know... Hope you arent too disappointed in me. And thanks for checking the other 3 links out. I know you really didnt have to do that. I would have rather get my stock from you but I figured use the credit or loose the credit ya know?

It looks good! Disappointed in you? Why would I be disappointed? You did a good job and should be proud of that. No worries on the others, I only one of the three you mentioned anyways, but as you know, I have a lot of titles available. And using the credit on eBay, I would do the same thing!

Yes those are all originals, that seller doesn't deal in counterfeits. I don't believe they carry titles in quantity and can get some of the harder to find titles, but they are legit to my knowledge and that is what is important.
