With regards to those Captain America prints I mentioned a few posts back, the set of Eric Tan ones will not be available online, Mondo mentioned those were San Diego Comic-Con exclusives. Also there were two other San Diego Comic-Con exclusives so far, both by Martin Ansin, and both wood variants, which means like the metal variants, they are printed on actual sheets of wood. One was The Mummy, the other was for Planet of the Apes. My guess is a standard version will be made for sale online, but these wood variants Mondo doesn't ship, similar to their policy on metal variants. For those at San Diego Comic-Con, check out the Mondo booth as they are offering exclusive prints every day of the show.

Well the Stout Captain America prints go on sale today, but since I'm at work, there's little chance I'll be able to get one through my phone. Oh well, I guess we'll see what the resale prices will look like.

Hope you were able to get one sonic... the variant is sold out, but the standard is still up. I got a standard... this should lessen the pain of no Kill Bill

Edit: Nevermind... standard is now sold out too

For those who know how the Mondo thing works, they typically send out an email the DAY BEFORE announcing the details for the following day's print drop. In the case of Captain America, they didn't do that, instead the email that people were expecting the day before, actually arrived after 12am this morning, a time when most of the collectors are in bed. But then to drop the prints at 7:40am pacific time when most west coast fans are either in bed still sleeping, or getting ready for work/driving to work, or even hadn't had time to check their emails yet since they didn't receive one the day before so some probably didn't expect them to go on sale since no email was received, was pretty harsh.

I certainly can feel the pain for those who are livid right now on other forums because not only was the announcement email not sent out the day before, but the time drop was insanely early compared to when they usually drop them online. This is the earliest a print has dropped to my knowledge.I am sure Mondo will have a lot of upset fans calling them out on this one, I'd certainly not be surprised if this was the case. I am happy for those here who got what they wanted, job well done with those quick fingers!

Your tips a couple of posts up really helped. I created my account for mondo and kept a browser window open on their store, and followed them on twitter so I would have a chance. I'm still kind of in shock that I landed one. Just waiting for the shipping notification. Anyone know how long it takes for that notice to go out?

In the end, without a doubt, there are always more disappointed people than happy people. I bet the early drop and less formally announced release had a lot to do with their attendance at Comicon, but whatever the reason I'm happy I actually got one for a change.

Any 'fan' who calls to complain should save the complaints for all the people who bought them just to flip them, like always, there are already a dozen of them on ebay.

I still say Mondo should double or triple the print run and double or triple the price. Better yet I think they should print to order, leave the order window up for as long as they think is necessary and print one for everyone who wants one. Obviously this is never going to happen, but a man can dream can't he?

Yea missed out, was busy at work.

If the resale price is similar to Iron Man 2, it won't be too bad.

Unless someone here wants to sell me theirs...

I think it varies from print to print. It took them at least a month to ship the SW set.

Glad those tips helped, I didn't really even give my top secret tips either! LOL! Glad you got one, and regarding shipping, it can take upwards of a month to get them, sometimes faster, but if you have an order confirmation, you should be just fine.

This is for everyone that missed out:

I need Mondo to do an old school Fright Night poster. If not might have to grab an original.

True, there are always people who are unhappy with every drop, but the fact that the announcement email wasn't sent out the day before as Mondo assured people it would be, and then to release the prints at a time that pretty much was a slap in the face to west coast collectors, you kind of have to give those who are upset about that some time at the soapbox. Had the email gone out when it should have, it at least would have "confirmed" they were going on sale. I actually sympathize with those who are upset, in this case they have a leg to stand on.

You more than likely will never see a "print to order" change because Mondo has said they want to keep these limited, because they technically are "limited edition prints". Sure, the numbers are increasing on the more popular artists, but still keeping them under the 1000 prints mark. I believe the highest amount made were the Star Wars Stout prints, the standards came in at an edition of 850 for each of the three films, even those sold out in seconds. But getting a set with matching numbers was even more difficult because it wasn't as if they had 850 numbered "sets" available, they had a fraction of that I heard. Those went so fast people were scrambling to get what they could since they were offered as a set and also as individual ones but they all pulled from the same 850 numbered allotment.

I am happy some people got one today though, I know some of you have been trying and glad it finally paid off for you guys!

Ha! I'm right behind you!

I wonder if they'd ever run a different color variation of it? I've seen artists do that with prints that were previously released. If the demand is there, why not? I guess it would lessen the value of the originals but if there's money to be made why not throw it back out with a twist?

Stout did a 'print to order' run once I think, but I believe it was on an original piece and not a licensed one, but generally I agree 100%, it isn't going to happen on these licensed prints. There is just too much demand for them to stay limited... that coupled with the fact that they are constrained by their licensing agreements about all I can do is sit back and take pot shots from the cheap seats

i was at the theater to see the movie and my friends asked for the Harry Potter movie poster and the manager asked if there were any posters I wanted so I said Captain America. The movie was very good, I really enjoyed it and it is one of my favorite Marvel movies.

It is the first advance. I really like it and it was the one I was thinking about buying. I really am not a big fan of the final style (the one with all the characters on it), it just seems to cluttered...

There was only one advance, the other one that was similiar in style was the International advance. Glad you got one, hopefully you stayed after the credits and saw the teaser for The Avengers.

I was thinking the second poster was an advance too. It is the one where it is the same image and style except instead of "Avenge" it says the movie title. And yes, i stayed after the credits. That trailer got me excited! Next summer is going to be crazy for super hero movies (Avengers, Spiderman, and Dark Knight Rises)!!!
