My only gripe was my favorite one, the Two Towers poster with Saruman in the tower pictured from behind, was damaged a bit at the top of the poster - ripped and crumpled slightly - which was definitely not from shipping; it was rolled up in the middle of the lot, so I found that a bit disappointing. It should be covered by the frame anyway though.

Overall the rest were in really good shape. I did get one single sided poster, Aragorn as the king as pictured in Return of the King, which was a WBshop exclusive. It shows New Line Cinemas logo printed on the back. It is a little thicker than the others and also of very good quality.

My only other complaint is the $10 I was charged by DHL for bringing it across the border. Add that to the $15 shipping, and the $3.24 posters ended up being about $8.37 each. Still a pretty decent deal despite the Canadian surcharge…
DHL/FEDEx/UPS, all charge more than the $5 Canada Post charges to process a package IF you are assessed duty at all by Canada Post. No way you would have been charged on that package if it came via USPS>Canada Post... you also may still be waiting for it to show up... but that is a different complaint altogether

True, with Canada Post I've had pretty good luck with the charges for the most part, but like you say it is just the matter of the wait.

With all the other companies it really sucks to have to pay for border clearance no matter what. Being that the merchandise total was well below the $30 cutoff for duties, ideally there should be no charge at all.. but they always need a reason to charge something I guess.

When I ship to Canada, I only ship Priority Mail International, it is more expensive than First Class but Priority is insurable (automatically includes about $70 in insurance) and traceable. First Class is cheaper and more affordable for people, but not insurable so if a package gets lost, damaged, or stolen its not covered. After 20 years of shipping I just had a First Class International package go missing (not poster-related) and I had to cover that out of pocket for a replacement. But I help by declaring as "gift" on the customs form for what good that does.

Thanks for that Kinsella, that is useful info too. I can definitely appreciate when a business is willing to mark a shipment as a gift as well, that helps to save us canucks some coin!

Just wondering if you have an opinion on allmoviereplicas.com? I'm actually looking for places to get lightboxes, and they do carry a selection. Since they also deal in posters I thought maybe you'd have an idea about them.

I'm looking to lightboxes since most anything beyond a basic crappy Michael's 27x40 frame seems to be $200+, and I figure if it's going to go in that direction I may as well just look to lightboxes.

Any other suggestions for places to get a decent lightbox? I noticed Mr. Poindexter on here got his from displays2go.com but had some trouble with sizing there. It's pretty hard to find these for a decent price that won't kill you with shipping as well. I don't really have the means or the ambition to build them at this time...

Saw the new TDKR poster at our local theatre tonight. An employee was unrolling it getting ready to display as far as I could tell. I asked about it and he let me take a look. Real impressive in person.

Anyone else see the news that Mondo is going to do a series on Studio Ghibli movies? An Olly Moss Totoro is first up.

Yeah it's looks amazing from a design standpoint but i admittedly don't know much about the movie so i'm passing. I love the variant and i'm sure this will sell out in under a minute since it's a Moss. When they said something about a big announcement i was thinking maybe a Conan or Watchmen print but still nothing on those fronts.

Interesting, theaters must be getting them this week, I kind of thought that, but then thought next week would probably be more likely. I would assume an actual full trailer would be hitting this week, but perhaps next. The prologue is only in select cities at select IMAX theaters, so a theatrical-wide trailer would be expected, perhaps one is coming.

Yeah I will admit they are doing a great job with the posters so far for TDKR, lots of black and white, the rain effects are nice.
