United Kingdom Predator 2 encoding problem

I recently bough the UK Predator 2 Blu-ray and while playing on a PS3 with the latest firmware, I noticed the disc skipped in chapter 26 at the 1:26:38 mark approximately.

Is this a known issue or do I just happen to have a bad disc? If so, I'll just return it to Amazon UK to get a replacement. Any feedback? The EAN is 5039036039352

I don't own a PS3 - I have a Sony BDP-S360 but I haven't encountered any dramas with this disc.

Thanks for the feedback. Must be a single faulty disc then. I'll see to get a replacement.

weird, mine has a problem around 1:24:38, it skips forward about 10 seconds. Tested on a fat and slim ps3

Maybe I'll ask for a replacement, bought from HMV.

That's the exact same problem I had on a slim PS3! I'll return mine to Amazon and keep you posted. Might be a bad batch of discs.

Cool, keep us updated, just tried the same disc in my pc, and at the 1:24:38 mark the whole screen pixellates for a split second then plays fine.

Just to confirm the EAN on the back of mine is the same, so it may be a bad batch.

Hopefully your replacement is fine.

Amazon accepted my return request and I've stated the exact error that occured. I'm shipping it back and they'll send a replacement. Hopefully, I'll be more lucky with that one.

UPDATE!

Sorry for the double-post but I just got my replacement from Amazon UK. I didn't have time to check the entire disc but I checked the part that skipped (in chapter 26, where the Predator is hanging on the ledge) and the part skipped plays perfectly now

So it would indeed seem there has been a bad batch of discs going around. I would suggest everyone who has this UK edition to check chapter 26 and if there's a skipping problem, to ask for a replacement.

I'm very sorry to say that the problem is continuing.

I bought the Predator Trilogy pack from Amazon UK, received it this week, and found I can't play Predator 2 all the way through: it grinds to a sudden halt at the 1:26:38 mark, and locks up the software (I'm playing it on my PC).

I've had to play it in the BD-player included in Nero 10, because in Power DVD 11 it brings up a disc-generated warning screen saying my software needs to be updated before the disc will play. (Slight problem, in that I already the have absolute latest update, which was brought out specifically because of playback issues with Fox's latest implementation of BD-Java. Th other two discs in the trilogy play, though, so it's a bit puzzling.)

All in all, I guess I won't be watching Predator 2 any time soon.

Was there a sound issue with this disc too? I aint watched Pred2 all the way through I only flitted through when I got it a couple of years ago to check the koala-tea but it seemed like the audio was slightly out of sync?

I didn't spot any sync issues myself RuLeX, but you never know. My understanding is that in many cases they show up on some systems or brands of player, but not on other brands (or even other models of the same brand).

I've discovered that playing the disc through AnyDVD solves the issue of it asking for a firmware update, even though it's the same region my system is set to anyway, AND lets it play through the glitch! So I wonder if the problem was largely due to some new DRM that Fox has brought online.

But I don't know whether there's still a manufacturing fault, because under AnyDVD the disc actually played past that point, but the audio and video both had a pretty nasty wobbly and took several seconds to find their feet again.

I've just bought Predator 2 (with a slip yes!) and while I don't have the pixilization others have mentioned I do have a lip sync issue. I'm using a PS3 slim. Apparently there are a few different batches out there with different codes on the underside of the disc.... Should I contact Fox Home Entertainment for a replacement?

This was a problem ages ago. Predator 2 would not play unless the user got the then-current PS3 update software.

I recently bought the Trilogy for my PC's blu ray disc drive.
Never had a problem with any blu ray before but the 2nd one doesn't even start up, says my blu ray player requires an update in order to play this disc.

Contacted amazon to change it and they sent me a whole new trilogy, 1+3 work again, but the 2nd still not working.

Asked to send out Predator 2 only, instead of the trilogy and they did, still not working..
Whats wrong?!

Earlier in the thread MacEachaidh mentioned that he used AnyDVDHD to set his player's region to B and that helped to get the disc playing. I think if your software is up-to-date and it won't play you're out of luck. It might help changing a few of the settings with your player, maybe disable internet access or allow it, or allow it to store information on your PC. Sometimes things like that can help with standalone players.
