The problem is that not everyone does their kvetching on internet forums or facebook: companies regularly receive complaints direct from customers (usually far more than will complain on a public site), and sometimes they can be bizarre ultra-nitpicking, and sometimes can be written in pretty obnoxious style. For big corporations or larger companies the people who run them are insulated from that kind of criticism, but on a small label like Twilight Time the people who run it will be aware of every one.

I don't have Zulu or NOTLD but I didn't think Titus was as bad as other people made it out to be. To me it was still a huge upgrade from the old DVD. Demetrius also didn't seem as bad as others made it out to be but since The Robe looked so amazing I think we all were hoping it would look that good and it definitely didn't. Both are still very watchable to me though. I'd like to think that all my favorite films that will be released would be culled from a 4K scan but I guess that's not financially feasible.

I'm looking at the May and June releases right now. I get to sleep in and skip the May pre-orders, fortunately, but I'll be first in line for the pre-order of Absolute Beginners a month later.

I'm happy with my average Joe non-autographed Blu-ray of Breaking Away.

For those of you who do not already own Breaking Away, though, this disc has my highest recommendation. It's easily one of my top 10 Twilight Time titles, and probably in my top five.

Awesome movie, awesome audio/video quality, awesome extras, and the works.

Love the movie, saw it in the theater as a kid and have had it on DVD for years. I definitely want it on Blu, but just don't think I can swing it for this sale as there are other titles I am ordering that I'm afraid will sell out.

Assuming I'll still be able to grab copies of ZARDOZ for myself and a buddy, I'll be ordering those, a freebie autographed copy of Breaking Away for my dad (it's his favorite film), and the following birthday-discount titles:

Picnic
Bye Bye Birdie
Wayward Bus
Radio Days
Broadway Danny Rose

I'm surprised there isn't a review of Breaking Away on this site.

If you can order the titles you want today after 4:00 maybe you could get it for free 😃

Couldn't agree more. It was a blind buy for me and I couldn't have been more pleased with the purchase. It'll likely become one of my favorite sports movies.

Oh you'd get if for free if you reach that spending limit that TT decribes on their home page? I misunderstood and I thought at 4 pm you could simply order the autographed copy but would have to pay for it.

Normally I would but I'm going to have to pass this time. Which is a shame, because that's exactly the type of title I like to pick up during those promos. It's just that I already bought what I wanted during the sale, and the sale prices combined with the $150 limit mean I would have to buy more and I'd probably just be buying "meh" titles to make the numbers which isn't worth it just for one free movie.

Those are only available as a "free reward" for ordering other TT items -- in this case $149.75+. Normally that would be 5 of the normal 29.95 movies, but with the current sale it gets all confused.

If you've never done the autograph sales before these tend to go fast and rarely last more than a few minutes assuming the website doesn't freeze up.
There rarely are any left by 4:30pm and frequently are gone in 5-10 minutes -- the bump to $150 and since it's not one of the sold out items this may last a bit longer.

The best way to get in on it is to load your cart with the $150 of TT items you want, be online a few minutes before 4pm Eastern, and as soon as the promo item is online, put it in the cart and checkout -- you'll need to sign in to your account after you start checkout and it doesn't matter if you think you are signed in already, enter your username/password, have your CC Security number at your fingertips). If you start searching for items to add to the cart or have to go look for password or CVI numbers these may be gone before you can get through the process
Since they have moved the promo days away from pre-order day, they tend to hang around a bit longer. When I bought Che and Under Fire, they were still available well into the evening. Since this isn't really a major in demand title (like Fright Night or the Blob), and with the higher limit, I'm speculating this will hang around for a while. Still it's always best to jump on it quick if you really want it.

I do have some buyer's fatigue but there are several titles I've been sitting on the fence about getting for a while now, this is a good incentive to pull the trigger before they sell out....

Glad I haven't bought anything yet during this sale. I'm sure this promo wouldn't be like the last fiasco.

Criterion doesn't do that. KINO doesn't do that. No one does that.

Last week I placed my first ever TT order (for 3 titles which should arrive tomorrow), using PayPal to checkout. You mention one should have their CC handy (or CC Security number at least) during checkout if one wants to place an order so as to receive the autographed copy of Breaking Away.

Are these autographed sales set up in a way where PayPal checkout is not offered by TT upon checkout? Or perhaps it is not advised to use PayPal as it may take longer to check out through PayPal rather than using a straight up credit card checkout, costing one the opportunity to receive the autographed copy should they sell out quickly?

You've answered it yourself. PayPal takes just slightly longer to check out. With the hottest of promo items, it could cost you the freebie. It likely won't be an issue today, though. Like others have said, I don't see this one being a feeding frenzy.

(Still, I'm trying for it.)
