What I meant...and other people seemed to understand that just fine...is why does a re-reissue of a sold-out title bother you? There's no reason why it should, unless you feel compelled to buy something you don't want to. For example, if you decided that you wanted to buy every TT release, and felt that in order to do so, you had to buy something extraneous. It reminds me of a complaint back in the 80s I read in the letter column of a Marvel comic. Someone wrote in complaining that Marvel was publishing a specific title that he thought was absolutely terrible. And the reason was because he didn't want to have to buy this terrible comic, but he had to because he collected every Marvel comic. I have no issue with someone who has the "Collector Gene" being upset because it compels them to buy things they might not want otherwise in order to have a "complete set". But, quite frankly, that's their problem. And it's no reason for other people to not have a reasonable opportunity to have a copy of a particular movie on Blu-ray just because someone else complains about a reissue "devaluing" the specialness of their earlier purchase. I have a nephew who happily bought DVDs over the years. Whenever a title he already had was reissued in a Special Edition, with an improved transfer or more extras, he'd just say to himself, "Nope, don't need it; the one I already have is satisfactory enough," and wouldn't buy the new-and-improved one. That's what I meant about not being "forced". |

Would you say that since TT released Christine as a "limited edition" that Sony should have never released their own version? Based on your argument they would "owe" it to their customers to ensure that no one ever released that title again. |

As for the rushing home to order it at minute one, most of their customers know that isn't necessary. When I started ordering TT titles, almost exactly two years ago, I was caught up in the worry that I needed to be right there, right then, to make sure I got a copy of what I wanted. That was the last time I did that. I've rarely ordered their titles first week, let alone first minute or even first day. People learn pretty quickly that it's a rare instance that something will sell out in less than a couple of months, or even longer. If many of TT's customers place their orders right away on pre-order day, it's because they want to get their order in right away for peace of mind. It's the same with almost every other label. People chomp at the bit just as much for other releases, constantly asking when pre-orders will be up at Amazon, so they can place their orders. |

Interesting May lineup have always been dying to see INSERTS! Also Eureka is another bizarre Nicolas Roeg film. I do like to see Theresa Russsell in a good movie and her then husband Roeg gave her great roles. Gene Hackman is great I the film also. :-)
Hoping a lot of these releases feature commentary tracks Sadly no Woody Allen! |

I'm really excited about INSERTS. That's kind of a love it or hate it film, but I tend to love it (as I also love the director's earlier underrated film HEART BEAT). I'd have given Oscar nominations to Jessica Harper and especially Veronica Cartwright for INSERTS.
I may also go for EUREKA, mainly for Theresa Russell. The film itself isn't a favorite of mine, but it's interesting if nothing else. |

Romeo is Bleeding is a definite buy.
Cat Ballou is a maybe, my Western tastes are fickle and I tend to only like 70's and up titles, but '65 is borderline. Will watch some footage. Rollerball I have the Arrow UK release, but I am happy they are re-issuing it for others. Now do Enemy Mine and the Sinbads, darn it! ![]() |
