The Fortune Cookie and How to Steal a Million are definite ones for me.

I know the stature of these films aren't the same, but this would be like using a shot of Bogie and Bacall from Key Largo on the To Have and Have Not blu-ray cover. It's so bush league.

I'm grateful that this film is even coming out on blu-ray at all, and I know the disc is more important than the artwork, but I also care about packaging, especially since I'll be spending like $40 CAD. I'm bothered by this as a TT consumer and as a fan of Hayworth and Astaire who deserve better.

I doubt anything will be done about it now since the release is in a few weeks, but it could've been prevented if Twilight Time released their cover art earlier (why do they take so long anyway?) and received feedback.

They're supposed to be releasing You Were Never Lovelier sometime in the future, and now I'm expecting them to use the publicity shot that's on the You'll Never Get Rich dvd cover for that.
Obviously, that was used for the DVD cover but maybe it was a publicity shot for "You'll Never Get Rich" all along? I am just speculating...just because it was used for the DVD cover does not mean that is was from a publicity shot from that movie...films made back to back starting the same leads?

The gown on that cover is the one Rita Hayworth wears in "You Were Never Lovelier":

Probably too late for TT to change it I assume. It should still be brought to their attention . Perhaps they could offer replacement covers.

At least it is a really good looking cover.

Look at Fortune Cookie and How to Steal a Million.

It's too bad TT couldn't have worked out a deal with Sony whereby they could have offered both films as a two-fer. I would have grabbed it at $30 if it included both films, but as it is, I'll wait for a sale.

Good eye on spotting that. It's most unfortunate though not unprecedented. I've seen studio releases that put photos from the wrong films on their releases. I remember a VHS release of From Russia With Love that had photos from Thunderball on the packaging.

Well at least the cover for "You'll Never Get Rich" is pretty to look at. The others are pretty bad - especially "The Fortune Cookie", TT could have come up with something better than that.

That's hilarious. Did they mix up the films?

Sigh.....Still hoping that TT someday releases the Columbia/Sony greats "The Long Ships" and "Trouble with Angels."

I've seen my fair share of Truffaut over the years, but for some reason I had never watched THE STORY OF ADELE H. before, although I've always known about it.

Thankfully, due to TT's recent sale, I finally watched it and what a gem. Adjani is amazing and it plays out like a somber and tragic Fatal Attraction. What a great film, thank you TT!

I don't know, I think TT's cover for "You'll Never Get Rich" is pretty solid. Very classy. The black and white looks stunning on it that fits perfectly with it's clear case.

I've never seen the film but I'm definitely going to be checking this one out. I'm always down for the late, great Fred Astaire.

The problem is YNGR is more of a service comedy than the urbane tux and tails fare people usually associate with Astaire.

I've only seen it once, but what I remember from it is that a good bit takes place on an army (training?) base. IIRC- and I might not be- Hayworth is the rich girl Astaire's lowly service man takes a shine too- hence the title.

I enjoyed it, but it felt slight, and slightly 'off' because of the situation and setting when what I was expecting was a typical Astaire film. I might have a much more positive reaction now precisely because it bucks the usual trend.

I haven't watched YWNL all the way thru, but from what I saw, it was much more in line with my expectations and seemed to be a very strong example of a more typical "Astaire film", with a solid supporting cast and music.
YNGR seemed to trail behind in both those aspects as well.

So yeah, the cover art for this may look appropriate for what people assume is another Astaire movie, but in this case at least, it really misses the mark in a big way (especially since he spends most of the movie in uniform).

Oh ok I get it now. Kind of similar to false advertising in a way?

I finally got around to checking Dogs of War me and my Dad watched it when i visited him on Sunday since its the only day i can get to see him due to working during the week and doing other things on Saturday too but it was actually pretty good for an older film. I got this along with like 5 other titles from the Twilight Time/Screen Archives sale going on for the rest of this month i believe though.

I think it's been said that TT's deal with Fox has expired, at least for the present time. I wonder if we'll still get THE EFFECT OF GAMMA RAYS ON MAN-IN-THE-MOON MARIGOLDS?

To be honest, I can see how the two covers could be mixed up. The artwork, and posters for You'll Never Get Rich are actually kind of similar to You Were Never Lovelier, and of course even the titles themselves are somewhat similar. Same two leads in both and the movies came out a year apart from one another. I don't think it's exactly the same as mixing up two Bogie/Bacall covers for that reason, but I do think it's unfortunate nonetheless, and hopefully TT does fix it with later printings, or offers a replacement for those that request one.

They wouldn't have these problems if they used original poster art all the time, which they should.

That's such a grievous mistake that I'd like to think they must have tried to use the original poster art but couldn't due to rights issues. It still doesn't fully explain why they used what they did
