I'm double-dipping on Inferno, since I already own the region free disc, but I'm wild about this movie.

With all due apologies to Twilight Time, I decided to order the el cheap edition of The Stone Killer from the region free Indicator label, since I'm impressed with their output so far.
Your actions and thoughts 100% match mine, Owl.

Only pre ordering
The Man In the Moon
Year of the Comet

and tacking on
How to Steal a Million
Two for the Road

I seem to have fallen way behind, just too many good films coming out this year by everyone, and my wishlist just keeps getting bigger.

Although there are a few nice releases this month, I've decided to post-order in about 3-4 months, when some of these titles will inevitable go on sale. My stack of unwatched already needs attention....

I went ahead and bundled the bundle with the Murphy's Law autograph copy for Free -- looks like about 30 copies or so are still up (was 38 this morning). Around $22 per item shipped isn't a bad deal at all assuming you want the bundled items.

$144 didn't technically meet the 149+ threshhold so I threw in Adele H for 9.95 just to make sure. In the past sometimes the 149+ price was before discount or the threshold was moved down for such a purchase, but I didn't want to chance getting declined.
Was curious if anyone was actually pre-ordering all 6 for the bundle. Discount seems like practically nothing for having to buy that many specific (and diverse titles).

Adele H is better than some of those other movies, a good choice to throw in.

Year of the Comet information from Twilight Time (and the reason for its delay from original release date):

Quote:
6 new titles from TT go up for pre-order today, May 3rd, at 4 pm EST including William Goldman's YEAR OF THE COMET (1992). We had delayed YOTC for several weeks because we were hoping to include John Barry's rejected score, along with Hummie Mann's admirable replacement, as Isolated Music Tracks on the Blu-ray, but unfortunately we are unable to secure the rights to the JB score.

The good news is that we have located all of the original session recordings and can confirm they are in pristine shape, with each take of every cue intact. The John Barry music is, as to be expected, charming, and very much in the mode of his early 1990s work - think a contemporary variation on "Dances with Wolves" to give you an idea - it is elegant, luxurious, but perhaps ultimately too lugubrious for the film, which is possibly why it was replaced in favor of a more upbeat and energetic approach utilized fabulously well by Hummie Mann.

YEAR OF THE COMET was produced by indie studio Castle Rock, whose catalogue has subsequently been folded into WB's massive holdings, and despite our best efforts we have been unable to license the unused score from WB who control these assets. It is our hope that one day a CD of Barry's unheard gem will materialize, but until that day comes there is nothing more we can do at this time.

We are still proud to present YEAR OF THE COMET on Blu-ray as we feel that on the occasion of its 25th anniversary, the film might be reappraised and given a better reception than the one that met it on original release, and the Hummie Mann score is still a delight in and of itself, presented here for your enjoyment.

Thanks for your patience!

What's with Svet citing a "recent 4k restoration" of Bonjour Tristesse and making no mention of the Twilight Time release in his review of the Carlotta release?

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Bonjo...162594/#Review

Is the TT release from 2012 not from the same transfer? It's one of the most stunning discs in my collection, I'd be shocked if it wasn't from a 4K restoration.

LOL. "Svet" has been the principal architect of the anti-TT agenda at this site since practically the day we started. It is why we no longer send review copies. If it were not for "Oildude" we would have no profile at this site whatsoever. We are not included even in the new release announcements in the feed on the main page.

And yes, the "recent 4K restoration" is exactly the same one we utilized in 2012.

Sony has basically dropped "pressed" discs for catalog title releases and has gone the route of BD-R, and with a retail of $26.99 to boot. Paying $29.99 has never been an issue for me and I remain grateful to have Twilight Time's input in the marketplace.

What do you mean "back that route"? Has this been brought up before? All I'm saying it would be nice to know what the beef is. It would also be nice for Twilight Time's releases to be reviewed here again.

You can read it here:

I personally don't agree with TT's logic, nor do I feel it wss professional for an insider to make such comments publicly about the staff here. If it was a regular member, they would probably be penalized for that.

Yeah, I read that before at the time it was posted. But this is the first time that TT have laid the blame solely on Svet, so I'm curious to know what he has said / done to create the animosity and what actual steps either side have taken (if any) to resolve the issue.

I think the fact that they stopped sending the site review screeners pretty much solely because a single staff member had dissenting opinions, despite...

1.) The reviews being written by a different person (Jeffrey Kaufman), who is a big fan of the label

2.) The label having a coveted sticky on this site

3.) There being thousands of people who are fans of the label, and have supported them greatly

...shows me, at least, how much they are willing to resolve this. This is a years old feud that is completely childish. A staff member should be allowed to have their own personal opinion without a label taking their ball and going home.

I'm not sure what Pro-B may have said in private if anything to TT, but based on his comments in this thread, he just seemed to be against the business model of TT, and the notion that the general catalog market was so weak that it had to succumb to limited editions being sold at premium. I'd be surprised if he had any sort of actual vendetta towards TT specifically, or their staff.

I disagree completely with TT's recent comment that if it weren't for oildude, there would be no profile here whatsoever. Oildude does do any amazing job with this thread, and getting the word out about TT, but again, this thread has been stickied for ages now, and is one of the most active on the whole site. They get tons of attention and advertisements from thousands of people on here. And did they forget that the site is still doing reviews despite having to buy copies out of pocket? To say they barely have any profile here is hyperbole at best.

As for TT not being advertised in the News section. It appears that stopped June 2016. These articles were not written by Pro-B, but by Jefferey Kaufman, the same reviewer and fan of the label I spoke of above. Perhaps the fact that the site hasn't been receiving screeners, and he's had to buy them out of pocket led to him feeling that TT doesn't deserve the free advertising. Perhaps that decision came from the site managers themselves, for the same reasons, I can't say.

He does provide a link to Jeffrey Kauffman's review of the TT disc though.

Thanks for that, though it would be nice to hear from the horse's mouth exactly what the issue is. I know that the guys from TT can be a bit prickly at times, but I also know that unlike other reviewers who tend to keep discussions at arm's length, Svet will often bicker with people on the forums, so I'm taking no sides in this. I'm simply thirsting for a bit of juicy scandal to read about.

I can't remember where I saw it, but I saw something about TT releasing Panic Room with Jodie Foster.

Does anyone know anything about this?
