I would disagree with this thought and on the surface seems like a selfish view. If new material becomes available at a later date, why not make it available to consumers. To restrict the content is, in itself, provocative and provides a disservice to fans of a movie. You could always repurchase the new release and sell the old one.

Well, we know for certain that Thunderbolt and Lightfoot is one of them, since it was announced as one of the April releases.

There are better films that Fox could provide, but as a Talbot Mundy fan, as well as a Tyrone Power fan, the adventure film from Fox that I'd most like to see is King of the Khyber Rifles!

As long as they don't hold back content on purpose I'm fine with re-releases with new content. It's up to me whether I deem the new material worthy of a double dip. In most cases I'm fine with keeping the original but once in a blue moon I'll find the new extras worthwhile.

The real point here is that no one is being forced to double-dip. That's a decision that the consumer makes for himself, and he owns it.

No, this is not the "real" point. It is just a lazy cliche that is trotted out to close down any kind of debate. What does it even mean? If people were to be "forced" to buy re-issues, how would that be done? At gunpoint? Under pain of imprisonment?

This is a forum about home entertainment. Basically every single complaint or criticism or mildly negative thing anyone says about anything at all can be shut down with the fact that none of it is compulsory.

"I thought THE FORCE AWAKENS" was over-rated". Nobody is forcing you to see it or any other movie. Your opinion is invalid.

"My PS4 has broken down after a month". Nobody is forcing you to own a games console. Your grievance is invalid.

"My girlfriend doesn't like horror films" Nobody is forcing you to have a relationship.

I mean, if we really put any stock in this pointless "argument", what would be talking about? What are we actually forced to do? Eat? Sleep? Pay taxes?

So no, this is never, ever the "real" point of anything.

I ordered $200 worth of vids from them. Shipped out Dec 22nd. The tracking # showed it hit the border on Jan 3rd.

Still waiting. Email them and they're like 'um, not our problem contact Canada Post'. I contact Canada Post and they're like 'well the sender (Twilight) needs to file a lost email issue/complaint'.

So basically I'm never getting these movies.

I can get something from Japan in like a week, but it takes over a ****ing month to get something from the States, assuming it doesn't get lost on the way.

I don't live in the US either and it's frankly pretty simple to sell items on Ebay.

What a load of absolute rubbish. If you purchased the first Twilight Time release of Mysterious Island, it's your decision and your decision alone to decide whether or not to purchase the new release, nobody owes you anything. If you want to deflect some of the costs, you can easily sell the copy you have but apparently it's too much of a hassle. What kind of car do you drive? Let's say it's a 2014 Ford Focus. When they brought out the 2015 models, did you complain to the Ford dealership that bringing out a newer model with improved specs undermines the value of the vehicle you already own and that nobody else should be able to buy one? Welcome to the real world.

Yeah, it's funny people thanked the hell out of that post. Same reason people get excited when something sells out I guess, people like feeling like they have something rare or expensive. Personally I wish TT re-issued more sold out discs like the Sinbad movies or Enemy Mine, stuff that came out before I even noticed TT existed. Oh well.

One of the reasons that the TT post you referred to received so many thanks could be because we heard an explanation directly from TT, not necessarily because what TT had to say is agreed with.

Personally, I'm somewhere in the middle with all of this. On one hand, I'm happy to get a second chance to buy titles that I didn't buy initially. And if a title can be improved upon from its initial release, why the heck not re-release it? But on the other hand, I *think* I understand the predicament TT is in by bringing back a title that is tagged "limited edition". TT themselves call it a problematic area (... which it is, which is why we're even talking about it).

Saying "you're not forced to.." is such a statement of the obvious that it's not worth even saying. Not many people are "forced" to do anything except children, prisoners and people living under military dictatorships. It's a phrase that seems to exist only so that people who have nothing to say can pipe up anyway. It's not a "contribution". It's not an "argument". It is, in the context of a forum like this, a completely worthless statement.

And in any case, please quote where I said I was "forced" to do anything? I merely said that I had scaled down my TT purchases because of this policy. I do "own" that decision, whatever the hell that means. There is literally no actual substance to anything you're saying there.

I've been collecting DVDs and Blu-Rays since the formats began. I'm no stranger to double, triple, quadruple dipping. But as to the third meaningless cliche that you churn out in your post - "nobody owes you anything" - that's not really true is it? When you pay money to amazon for a Blu-ray, then they "owe" you a Blu-ray, don't they? And when a company advertises an item as a Limited Edition, and uses that as a justification for their price point, and as a reason for you to rush home and sit at your computer at a specific time to order it, then I would say that they "owe" it to their customers for that to be true. Numerous Trades Descriptions Acts around the world would seem to be in agreement with that. And, to be fair, TT themselves acknowledge that in their post.

I don't have a car, for your information. But do I think the general policy of "built-in obsolescence" across many areas of retail is a scam? Yes, I do. You seem to be fine with it and good luck to you. But then you are also the sort of person who says "nobody is forcing you to..." and "nobody owes you anything" so I'm guessing you're not the sort of person who likes to rock the boat.

Twilight Time costs a lot but they put out awesome films and genuinely seem to care about their supporters. I don't mind handing over some extra cash because of that.

Can't wait for Rollerball and Romeo is Bleeding.
