It is, in the context of a forum like this, a completely worthless statement.

And in any case, please quote where I said I was "forced" to do anything? I merely said that I had scaled down my TT purchases because of this policy. I do "own" that decision, whatever the hell that means. There is literally no actual substance to anything you're saying there.
Yes, it's a statement of the obvious because it's something that's obvious to everyone else on here. You don't like the re-releases, then don't buy them. If your reason is that you don't like re-releases, then great. But the tone of your original post had less to do with that, and more to do with a rant on the very existence of the re-releases which is why everyone on here is making the same point that if you don't like 'em, don't buy 'em, but don't begrudge other people's ability to do so.

When you pay money to amazon for a Blu-ray, then they "owe" you a Blu-ray, don't they? And when a company advertises an item as a Limited Edition, and uses that as a justification for their price point, and as a reason for you to rush home and sit at your computer at a specific time to order it, then I would say that they "owe" it to their customers for that to be true. Numerous Trades Descriptions Acts around the world would seem to be in agreement with that. And, to be fair, TT themselves acknowledge that in their post.
Yes, they owe you a blu-ray. Did they send you that blu-ray that you paid for? Yes? Then deal done, they don't owe you any more than what you already got.

No, it's more like I'm the kind of person who has perspective and doesn't go on a childish rant about the injustices of re-releasing previously sold out blu-ray movie discs.

This is a forum about home entertainment. Basically every single complaint or criticism or mildly negative thing anyone says about anything at all can be shut down with the fact that none of it is compulsory.

"I thought THE FORCE AWAKENS" was over-rated". Nobody is forcing you to see it or any other movie. Your opinion is invalid.

"My PS4 has broken down after a month". Nobody is forcing you to own a games console. Your grievance is invalid.

"My girlfriend doesn't like horror films" Nobody is forcing you to have a relationship.

I mean, if we really put any stock in this pointless "argument", what would be talking about? What are we actually forced to do? Eat? Sleep? Pay taxes?

So no, this is never, ever the "real" point of anything.
Way to blow the word "forced" out of proportion. No, I didn't mean "forced at gunpoint", and you damn well know that. Would you prefer the word "compelled"? That applies to an inner compulsion as well as an outer one.

What I meant...and other people seemed to understand that just fine...is why does a re-reissue of a sold-out title bother you? There's no reason why it should, unless you feel compelled to buy something you don't want to. For example, if you decided that you wanted to buy every TT release, and felt that in order to do so, you had to buy something extraneous.

It reminds me of a complaint back in the 80s I read in the letter column of a Marvel comic. Someone wrote in complaining that Marvel was publishing a specific title that he thought was absolutely terrible. And the reason was because he didn't want to have to buy this terrible comic, but he had to because he collected every Marvel comic.

I have no issue with someone who has the "Collector Gene" being upset because it compels them to buy things they might not want otherwise in order to have a "complete set". But, quite frankly, that's their problem. And it's no reason for other people to not have a reasonable opportunity to have a copy of a particular movie on Blu-ray just because someone else complains about a reissue "devaluing" the specialness of their earlier purchase.

I have a nephew who happily bought DVDs over the years. Whenever a title he already had was reissued in a Special Edition, with an improved transfer or more extras, he'd just say to himself, "Nope, don't need it; the one I already have is satisfactory enough," and wouldn't buy the new-and-improved one.

That's what I meant about not being "forced".

The reissues don't change the fact that the original releases are still limited in nature. Not only were the original releases "limited" for three years but the new releases are different from the original releases. Thus the original releases (that edition) are still, in fact, limited to the original amount made available upon release.

Would you say that since TT released Christine as a "limited edition" that Sony should have never released their own version? Based on your argument they would "owe" it to their customers to ensure that no one ever released that title again.

They've never argued that the limitation of their releases is a justification for their price point. It's just the economics of their business model. They pay the licensing fee up front, and the amount is based on how many units they can afford to have pressed. Which is also based on how many copies they think they can sell. That in turn, with a reasonble profit margin, determines how much they charge.

As for the rushing home to order it at minute one, most of their customers know that isn't necessary. When I started ordering TT titles, almost exactly two years ago, I was caught up in the worry that I needed to be right there, right then, to make sure I got a copy of what I wanted. That was the last time I did that. I've rarely ordered their titles first week, let alone first minute or even first day. People learn pretty quickly that it's a rare instance that something will sell out in less than a couple of months, or even longer.

If many of TT's customers place their orders right away on pre-order day, it's because they want to get their order in right away for peace of mind. It's the same with almost every other label. People chomp at the bit just as much for other releases, constantly asking when pre-orders will be up at Amazon, so they can place their orders.

Maybe because that's not how contracts and licensing works.

Romeo is Bleeding just for Lena Olin's performance. Cat Ballou and Garden of Evil are also musts.

That's clearly not the point I'm making. Twilight Time's post implies they will no longer reissue any titles, even if the opportunity arises to do so.

I'm in for Eureka (more Nicolas Roeg films on Blu-Ray is always a good thing), The Panic in Needle Park (I nearly picked up a used DVD last week), and Romeo is Bleeding--thanks for lightening my wallet yet again, Twilight Time!

Interesting May lineup have always been dying to see INSERTS! Also Eureka is another bizarre Nicolas Roeg film. I do like to see Theresa Russsell in a good movie and her then husband Roeg gave her great roles. Gene Hackman is great I the film also. :-)

Hoping a lot of these releases feature commentary tracks

Sadly no Woody Allen!

Wow, Cat Ballou! That's been one of my holy grail titles. Month 1, if not day 1. Also in for Garden of Evil and Member of the Wedding. Might also check out I Could Go On Singing.

Good batch for me. YMMV, of course.

I'm really excited about INSERTS. That's kind of a love it or hate it film, but I tend to love it (as I also love the director's earlier underrated film HEART BEAT). I'd have given Oscar nominations to Jessica Harper and especially Veronica Cartwright for INSERTS.

I may also go for EUREKA, mainly for Theresa Russell. The film itself isn't a favorite of mine, but it's interesting if nothing else.

Same here, I asked a while back if they were releasing it , all I got was a like on the Facebook page, so I was hopeful it would be released some day.

Romeo is Bleeding is a definite buy.

Cat Ballou is a maybe, my Western tastes are fickle and I tend to only like 70's and up titles, but '65 is borderline. Will watch some footage.

Rollerball I have the Arrow UK release, but I am happy they are re-issuing it for others. Now do Enemy Mine and the Sinbads, darn it!

Cat Ballou is more of a comedy western, I'd check it out first if I was you. One of its most memorable features is Stubby Kaye and Nat King Cole as a pair of balladeers who act as a kind of Greek chorus (think There's Something About Mary).
