So much for that plan.

TT mentioned on Facebook today that The Blue Lagoon is sold out as of yesterday.

You may be very taken aback by Alamo Bay. It's an unflinching and possibly absurdly amped up portrait of racism in a small southern fishing town. As a fan of Ed Harris, there may be some interest there as he is one of the most deplorable and deplorably racist characters I've seen.

I'm glad I own it as a connoisseur of controversial films, but I doubt I'll revisit it any time soon.

Hmmm. Your comments have certainly ramped up my curiosity concerning this film, and Harris' performance. This is truly a blind buy for me; all I knew when I ordered it was that it's one of the few Harris films I'm unfamiliar with, and that it is based on a true story that took place in Texas. I'll be interested to see how it plays out ... thanks for spiking my interest.

I can even see this under Olive Films, but, <shudder>, here's hoping someone out there decides on the better option. A lossless track of the lovely Rachel Portman score would be quite, er, lovely.

Anyway, just a thought. I've had the film poster (and the film, as a result) in my head for a while now, with the Twilight Time label right over it, colored gold just like the borders of the poster itself.

My pleasure! I've been mulling the film over all day (I saw it for the first time last night) and I doubt I'll make up my mind any time soon. It's too powerful and socially relevant to make an on-the-fly judgment.

It's a hell of a conversation piece, though, and I hope to read your thoughts on it!

Was able to get in on a group buy for Pal Joey and The Wayward Bus, thanks to a great member who posted in the dedicated deal thread.

Very interesting to see how this promotion plays out for SAE, and whether we see the like again. And will there be a sale over the Holidays in addition?

Plenty of TT titles on my Wishlist; plus, hopefully a Warner Archive sale coming up; plus, B&N Criterion in November; plus, I've gone region-free, so the world of Region B has opened up for me.

Man, life is good!

There is no need to link to any other site for up-to-date release information than the first post of this thread. I am glad TT is releasing a film you really wanted, but I don't understand why you would drop in here and post another website for release information. Please visit the OP sometime.

Thanks. I usually just work my way from the latest posts back. Totally forgot the 1st page got updated as the releases were announced, my bad.

That being said, I can't tell if the wink is meant to be off-the-cuff or a smug and patronizing aside. Honestly, it's cool either way, but there are so many ****** in this community who pounce on people for the smallest things, that I just have to mention it.

Won't happen again. Also, yes, I'm stoked for this release!

I'm a little surprised The Blue Lagoon sold out as quickly as it did once the sale was announced. Oildude reported there was fewer than 220 copies left, but that is a lot of copies to sell that quickly in less than a day from when the sale was announced. I wonder if a Ebay storefront bought a really large quantity, like 50 copies. I would have bought it, but I don't feel like I missed out too much. A film, like The Blue Lagoon and Sleepless in Seattle, will eventually get released again on blu-ray. I'm more worried about the niche films that will not get a blu-ray release again. All and all, it is cool Screen Archives is doing this sale with the now 26 blu-rays listed.

On a side note, I watched my copy of American Buffalo and enjoyed the film. I read a lot of people saying they thought it was not as good as the theater production, but Hoffman and Franz had solid performances. It was a good blind buy.

It's in my top 5 TT releases as well. It's a great companion piece to Glengarry Glen Ross. I wish TT would license Mamet's version of The Winslow Boy, which is superb - a G-rated Mamet film.

Is TT doing anything to address the issue of the eco-cases being used on Theatre of Blood or are they just ignoring it?

There have already been several posts about it earlier in the thread.

The only posts I could find on it said they were looking into it over a month ago, but thanks for your helpful non-answer.

If you mean whether TT will send out a new, non-eco case then the answer is no.

I wonder, though, whether they will go an replace existing stock in their warehouse with non-eco cases. There was talk a few months ago about people receiving titles that had been in the first batch of accidental eco case titles and finding that they had gotten non-eco cases. Maybe TT will swap out Theatre of Blood's cases as well.

They said it was a mistake and corrected it. I don't think an eco-case is an issue deserving of a recall or exchange. If it bothers people that much then swap it with some crappy Universal catalog release you don't care much about.

Can anyone post a photo of their TT collection with the clear cases? I want to see how they look together compared to the few that I have but in blue cases. I'm not sure if I should upgrade the blue to clear cases, or if I buy newer editions to change them into blue cases? I have a bundle coming in but next week and there from the first releases so those will be in blue cases. And TT sells clear cases on their website, right? Thanks!
