Their business model is already seriously damaged and has been for some time now. Now that the catalog market is worse by the year, I'm pretty sure that they must get better licensing deals these days to make up for the fact that 95% of their movie titles are eventually going to be sold at a discount (perhaps even a majority of copies of each movie as well). It's a slippery slope. Hopefully they'll keep going indefinitely (and with the same enthusiasm) despite the changing market.

1984 the movie I remember being more about imagery and message as well, but I haven't seen it since way, way back. Need to get on that.
Heresy! I did my University senior thesis on Orwell's 1984 (well, on specific aspects of it, at least). My favorite novel, seemed natural to write 30 pages on it...plus it was within the criteria for my thesis (English B.A.).

Yet, I only think the movie is just alright. I've only seen it once, but because I've spent so much time inside the novel - going back to high school - it probably just doesn't match up with the representation in my head.

A friend of mine used to argue that Nineteen Eighty-Four was about a Utopian society seen from the viewpoint of a paranoid schizophrenic.

I vaguely recall doing a paper on Animal Farm and comparing it to Mao's Chinese policies. That was early in college though, nothing super detailed. Longest paper I ever wrote was about Richard III, comparing the play, movies and various political and social insights in history. I put fascist Ian McKellan on the cover.

Which can be a more-frightening perspective than taking the novel at face value, I'd say. But it's certainly a valid analysis, given that Winston has an unreliable memory of the differences between the past and the present worlds of the novel. The elimination of contradictions or differences in language and therefor ideology, and how that obsfugates Winston's perspective on the world of the novel, was a large part of my thesis.

I read that it's now been dropped at the request of the studio.

I'm curious. Why would Fox/MGM forbid Twilight Time from recording an audio commentary for their own release? Is the film audio with no commentary copyrighted differently than it would be with a 2nd audio track running over top? That seems bizarre.

Woody Allen has never allowed extras on his films, presumably MGM acted on his behalf

I just got 'Comes A Horseman', which dates from the late 70's, and was quite disappointed to find that there is considerable print damage on the source used for the transfer. It's not just occasional white speckles - there are several moments when much more noticeable blemishes appear. This is unusual for Blu-ray transfers these days.

The transfers on TT releases are usually of pretty good quality, so this is a rather sad exception. Disappointing too that the extras are so meagre (just the isolated music score and a trailer). A commentary would have been welcome.

Did you notice that reduced price you paid compared to other TT releases? That's why. They posted the note below before pre-orders went live.

A NOTE ABOUT THE TRANSFER: while Twilight Time believes Comes a Horseman to be a fine, and generally overlooked hidden treasure from the 1970s, and worthy of a second look by Blu-ray aficionados, we recognize it has not survived in the greatest of shape. We hope that those of you who care enough to buy a copy will forgive the unusually high (for a TT release) level of “speckling” (minus density) and general debris that mar the work of master cinematographer, Gordon Willis, in this hi-def presentation. We have rejected many other titles and transfers for similar reasons, but after some consideration decided this film was too important to let go. In light of this fact, we are offering it at a reduced price to encourage those on the fence about it. TT strives always to strike a balance between a duty to preserve the legacy of film history, as well as presenting the very best version of a film in hi-def as possible under the circumstances.

I finally watched Swamp Water a couple of nights ago and it truly lives up to its reputation in this forum. A really good/visually attractive film. Honestly, loved it .

Per TT Bite the Bullet is SOLD OUT .

Looks like 1984 is now sold out at SAE.

It's still showing up over at TT website, so they must still have a few laying around. Grab it while you can!
