I loved American Buffalo - it's got darkly funny, often quotable and profane dialogue like Glengarry Glen Ross, Dustin Hoffman gives an intense, hilarious performance as a small-time loser who thinks he's smarter than he really is, and Dennis Franz does a nice job as a sad-sack junk store owner. The story is blackly comic and absurd - 3 losers trying to plan a robbery to get a potentially valuable coin. It's funny to see the sweaty intensity of these characters, none of whom are smart enough to pull off any sort of heist. I like American Buffalo almost as much as Glengarry, which is considered a classic.

I'm glad this sold out though, because it shows people haven't lost their interest in Twilight Time as the appeal still seems strong even as the company has been operating for some years now.

I still think if Panic Room had a 10,000 unit pressing, it would sell out at the $29.99 price in the pre-order stage or a month or so after released. Don't underestimate the cult (fanboys) of David Fincher.

Did I miss the announcement of Panic Room from TT?

It has been previously stated that they will release it at some point, pending receipt of the (4k, I think?) master from Sony, but no specific announcement has been made.

I'm a ridiculously pumped about this title!

Hopefully it won't be barebones besides the isolated soundtrack. Likely nothing though on it from the filmmakers that would be new. Between Foster, Leto, Whittaker and Fincher...

IT would be incredible awesome if they had someone from the crew who would do a signing (besides craft services) incentive...

Since Redman, Jamieson, Kirgo have great rapport with Sony, I'd really like to see another horror instillation come soon... like, I don't know -- Brainscan!

At this point, I'm not sure if Panic Room is still a thing. This year does mark its 15th anniversary though, so perhaps they've been holding off till this year to release it. Or maybe Sony took it back, and plan to release it themselves, since they've been doing a lot more anniversary releases lately.

American Buffalo is not as good a film as Glengarry Glen Ross, but it's good if you like David Mamet and it sticks very much to its theatrical roots.

It's been a while since I've seen Scorpio but as a fan of 70s movies and spy movies, I was very disappointed by it. I've never had any desire to revisit it.

Haven't seen American Buffalo but I own Scorpio. I love Burt Lancaster and collect his movies but this one was a bit cheesy and dull.

Other than the helpful boost for Twilight Time, I'd rather Sony release it themselves, I'd rather not have have to buy it immediately on pre-order for $30 + shipping, and I agree that this one would sell out too quickly to wait on.

I don't think 10,000 units would sell out at that price, I could see them selling 3000 in 2 to 3 months, which would still be fast for a non-horror.

I think the days of super fast sell-outs are gone to be honest. With TT doing sales from time to time, I think a lot of people will inevitably wait for those (myself included). Part of the reason why some titles sold out so quickly was the fear of missing out, and not being able to own the film on BD, but when there's a larger group that are just waiting for it to get cheaper, there's less concern about that. Plus of course, if TT is releasing it here, there's a strong possibility that Powerhouse/Indicator will have it in the UK, further slowing sales. I think if TT has it, they'll have 5,000 at the most, and it will likely take upwards of a year to sell out, but quicker if it's included in a sale or two.

Agree for the most part, though if they ever do something with a rabid fanbase again like Fright Night I am sure it might sell out quickly the same as that did. Most of their stuff is (intentionally) more niche though, which means slow sales and waiting for discounts now that they do them.

The UK release is apparently region free. Pretty cheap right now on Amazon UK

I too would pick American Buffalo. But I should confess that I intensely disliked AB the first couple of times I saw it. My initial watch was so long ago that I can't recall exactly why I disliked it so much, or why I disliked it so much the second time . Why did I bother watching it a third time you ask? That's a good question - um because there is undoubtedly something magnetic about American Buffalo and I found myself thinking back to it every now and then - enough to give it another shot. A feeling at the back of my mind that i'd misunderstood it somehow

I'm glad I did because it's now one of my favourites - incredibly dense dialogue, rich complicated characters and a depth that belies it's simple setting. There's a lot to unwrap and each time I watch it I discover things that had previously escaped my attention.

It's definitely a tougher watch than Glengarry Glenn Ross and I agree with most others that GGR is the better movie/play but I find AB creeping ever closer to it

Yeah frankly I'm surprised Sony hasn't confirmed if they will release this instead of TT. It's a successful Fincher film.

Another reason I think that titles don't sell out as quickly as they did is due to the encore editions and region free editions that have been coming out. The scalpers (who would create numerous accounts on TT and buy them all to sell them at ridiculous prices) have stopped doing that. At least from what I think. Christine sold out in literally 7 hours. My brother managed to get me what I think was the last copy before it sold out. Felt like I won the jackpot.

If Twilight Time got their hands on Paramount's catalog we'd see the return of the pre-order sellouts. I just don't know if we'll ever get another A-lister movie from TT's current partners with the potential to sell out like the good ol' days.
