Twilight Time shipping their sale product much faster than they used to. I got Rapid Fire and Scream and Scream Again a few weeks ago and they shipped the next day. I ordered The Detective and Tony Rome 2-pack over the weekend and they shipped today. Nice to see prompt service like that. Thanks TT.

Except for one of my Fox sale orders, which was shipped one week after I made the order, TT have been damn fast with shipping. I've had orders come in three days (That include the day I ordered and choosing media mail).

Those replication plant delays must be really stacking up - my November and December titles both arrived today in separate packages. First time that's happened but, hey, I'm set up for the holidays now.

Low quantity update :

At SAE :

Roots of Heaven 30 then sold out & Guess who's coming to dinner 11 then sold out .

Others at SAE that are low quantity are : Pony Soldier , Royal Flash , American Buffalo ,

I really believe if SAE decided to give better updates on low quantities like Twilight time does they would sell out of more titles faster . When they give these updates customers whom had been sitting on the fence delaying to buy would most likely buy finally if they knew it was close to selling out .
Just my opinion I guess .

Not many titles seem to be selling out during this really big sale . This could be a sign that many of the $14.95 - $24.95 priced during this sale should have been lower . Who knows I guess .

The last thing that seems odd to me is that many titles priced at $6.95 are not selling out . They likely should have priced all their 7 for $70 titles at $6.95 .

So far only 1 title that was listed on the 7 for 70 sold out scream & scream again & that was one of the most recent additions to that list . The really older stuff is just not selling very well especially ones that were released in 2011 - 2013 .

Anyone else have any opinions on these points I mentioned ?

My only opinion regarding your post, which is actually more of a fact, is that you don’t have to put a space between the end of a sentence and a period. Just place the period at the end of the last word. Just thought I’d throw that out there.

Twilight Time sales are kind of fascinating because it really shows you what sells on home media and what doesn't. Their genre stuff from the 80s and up sell out in literally days (The Blob, Fright Night, Christine, etc.) while their old 50's dramas and whatnot can't even sell out years later at drastically reduced prices.

I'm not saying this to attack or support anyone's movie taste. Lord knows I would never say popularity is a sign of quality. It's more just interesting, and explains why certain time periods and genres are treated very well on home video while others are left to languish. It's about making money, after all.

I wonder how much it has to do which demographic is buying physical media. The films that don’t sell are beloved by my parents (who are in their sixties,) but they don’t buy blu rays. I don’t know if that is representative of consumers as a whole of course.

I think that's absolutely a big factor. I think a lot of older people are fine with DVD, so while those movies might have sold better on DVD the Blu-ray upgrades are less desired. Meanwhile most very young people use streaming or piracy. So there's like a sweet spot of people very into physical media and also into video/audio quality, and those people are in the age group where the 70's and 80's classics are more in their wheelhouse.

There are of course exceptions like Hitchcock classics or Univeral's monster movies and whatnot, but Twilight Time tend to license more obscure stuff.

it is interesting to see what sells and what doesn't. I always thought anything to do with horror or sci-fi would be strong sellers but then there's examples where titles sit forever--

Count Yorga Vampire, Scream And Scream Again, Hound Of The Baskervilles, Strange Invaders, etc etc

I fully understand pointing out grammar errors is among the lowest type of forum post; however, as I said, just thought I’d throw that out there. It’s probably the easiest grammar mistake to fix.

Also, it’s a shame Twilight Time ended their “encore editions,” because I could really use another print run of Leave Her to Heaven. I’d buy it in an instant.

I agree with everything you said. I am one of those that tends to "sit on the fence". When Gator (1975) came out I saw it with some friends (I was 14). It
played on a double bill with Chato's Land (1972). We all loved Gator and thought Chato's Land sucked. Well, I haven't seen it since and I collect Charles Bronson movie's so I figure I will buy it when it comes down to the $10 range ( I paid full price for The Mechanic). I appreciate your updates. Thanks !!!

I'm surprised that The 3 Worlds of Gulliver is still out there. Although it's not as "Harryhausen" as the other Harryhausens that sold out in hours I thought it would go much, much faster.

That may be because of the excellent Indicator/Powerhouse box set, Wonderful Worlds of Ray Harryhausen, that includes it and is still available.

That's a great set but you'd have to buy three films at a heftier price but I'm sure it has contributed to it.

I got the Indicator set for Sinbad since it used remasters and the Twilight Time editions were sold out anyway. For the other Harryhausen stuff though the Twilight Time editions do me fine, as they're the same masters and I prefer to store them separately by title anyway.

I would love to see Twilight time release some older Sean Connery films . I think it's a shame that Zardoz & Russia House are the only two films they have done with him to my knowledge ?

Small low quantity update at SAE :

looks like 2 more films are finally going to sell out .

Guess Who's coming to dinner only 11 now & Roots to heaven now only 19

If those 2 also sell out that will be likely at least 3 titles they add to their 7 for $70 specials after this sale is over and maybe will add even more titles to that offer should more from that list sell out .

A little curious if anyone has an opinion of what twilight time titles from the 2015 year releases that are not on the offer you would like to see added to that offer ? I think it is most likely they would add titles from that time frame ? I wouldn't mind seeing Shadows and fog myself

I think the only film with Sean Connery not on bluray already that is owned by a studio Twilight Time deals with is Wrong Is Right, which I think would be a perfect fit for them as it’s quite obscure.

I’m not sure how limited their deal with Universal is but that could also open up the possibility of A Good Man in Africa, but that seems more like a Universal MOD type release to me.
