Very sad news. I didn't know Nick at all (unless he was the one running TT's Facebook page, which was always very pleasant to correspond with), but he and Julie always give great analysis for film essays and commentaries, and he seemed like a very smart and generous person.

I am very saddened to hear this news, and offer my condolences to his family, friends, and associates. A tremendous loss for fans of movies and movie music. Strange that someone you've never met could have such a big impact on one's life, as I have no doubt that in the years ahead, as I continue to watch my movies and listen to my movie soundtrack CDs, Mr. Redman's name will keep popping up on the credits. He will be missed, and he will be remembered.

RIP. Really sad news, brought a lot of films to Blu-ray that otherwise would never made it, and even was able to resurrect the commercial viability of some of them which Sony later re-released.

I spent the weekend listening to the commentaries on House of Bamboo, Kiss of Death and Moby Dick. Nick Redman’s comments have always been some of my favorite to listen to. Unpretentious, polite, informative and always able to lead a conversation with grace. His passing was awful news this weekend. Condolences to Mrs. Kirgo and his family and friends.

I watched "The Boston Strangler" last night. I found it to be a generally good thriller with the highlights, to me, being the cinematography, use of split-screen, the interrogation sequence, and Tony Curtis' performance.

Screenshots on DVDBeaver of The Return of Frank James look pretty rough...
The review praises the better color, but the screenshots provided make it look like the movie was shot entirely at night. It is so dark. |

While Fox's early Technicolor films will always look rough due to the source elements; I take Beaver caps with a grain of salt when it comes to color timing.

Look at all that detail that's essentially blacked out now.

The Koch looks like they've boosted the brightness too much and the TT like they went too far in the opposite direction.

I have loved Tony Curtis since I was a kid. I think it has something to do with watching The Great Race every time it came on TV....

About Boston Strangler, but I consider Richard Fleischer to be severely underrated! I just don’t hear people talk about him enough!

Yes but was that detail supposed to be seen? Like with Horror of Dracula recently that old master shot looks way too bright to me, so perhaps people are used to seeing more than they should. Though yes the TT does look a little overboard maybe, hard to say based on one still.
Don't know or care about this movie, just adding some general input. ![]() |

Anyone knows when TT/SAE's next sale may be, per previous years?

We had quite a discussion on him some months back (in reference to The Boston Strangler.) The guy was a master who made standouts in damned near every genre; love him.

His other movies that I love are The Vikings (1958) Fantastic Voyage (1966) The New Centurions (1972) Soylent Green (1973) Mr. Majestyk (1974) and I could have loved Crossed Swords (1977). It has one of Oliver Reed's great performances, Raquel Welch looking as hot as ever (but barely on the screen) and poor Mark Lester who was great in Oliver! but just couldn't carry his role in this one... |

Made a razor-sharp noir with The Narrow Margin and an even more chilling serial killer film than TBS with 10 Rillington Place. Guy was just all over the place and almost always scored...and I haven't even gotten to See No Evil. Also love Violent Saturday, a well-done noirish melodrama done proudly by TT.
