TT have carried over the extras package from Fox’s special edition DVD – audio commentary by Eddie Friedfeld and Lee Pfeiffer, two racier deleted scenes from the international version (one explaining what the butterflies are doing in the bedroom scene), trailer (unfortunately with sound out of synch by a whopping 80 seconds!) and what is referred to as a 17-minute mini-movie but which is actually a show reel put together for exhibitors to get them to book the film and which features alternate takes and one additional deleted scene but which, unfortunately, is also slightly out of synch: so is the version on the DVD release, but not as noticeably. (It’s surprising Fox didn’t use this as the basis for a Super 8mm release in the 70s since other show reels like the 1979 Dracula, Buck Rogers or Capricorn One turned up on the format). Like the trailer, this seems to be the only instance of Nick Redman’s passing affecting a TT disc: he supervised the extra content, and as this was one of the label’s last releases it’s sadly understandable that the label’s quality control on the supplements dipped on this occasion. They’ve also added an isolated music and effects track for Goldsmith’s superb score - the original master tracks have long been lost or mislaid - and the usual booklet.
Thanks for this. And how fortuitous. I was going to ask if the trailer was fuct up or it was intended (for some inexplicable reason; it's not like TT to screw up this badly) to be that way. A trailer can be seen on YouTube, but it seems to be a slightly different (aside from the audio synch issue) trailer.

I quite liked the film, which I'd never seen before. It's quite dated, but Peck acquits himself well, I think.

Glad I could help. Funny, as that one was the one I was most doubtful about. As I said, I'm no giallo expert.

I've enjoyed all the wonderful comments regarding Twilight Time. The writing was on the wall when Nick died and Julie left. Hopefully Julie finds more work at the Classic Flix label. Nick seemed like a lovely man and I always enjoyed his commentaries. As of this moment, I have 218 Twilight Time discs and I just ordered another 9 from TT and 5 from SA. Those will most likely be my last orders.

I started ordering TT discs around 2012 or 2013. Most of the titles I bought were on sale though there there were titles here and there that I bought when they came out. I managed to snag a copy of The Egyptian for $39.00 from an Amazon seller. I also managed to get Mysterious Island and Journey To The Center of The Earth as well. Those 2 are favorites going back to my childhood.

I'm optimistic that the mouse will eventually open up the Fox catalog to boutique labels in a year or 2. Wish they were being released by Twilight Time but such is life. Au Revoir, Twilight Time. It's been a hell of a ride.

What? TT was going to release Gorilla At Large? I missed that news. Do we have any idea about who might pick it up? I LOVE that film...

Yes, it was something they lined up with Fox. I have no idea what stage it was in.

It was mentioned in post #8 of this HTF thread from back in 2015.

A few replies later in that thread, Bob Furmanek said:

Got the shipping info for my order tonight. As more and more of my wish list keeps selling out (at least on TT) I am tempted to go in for a few more...Was going to wait until early June but there might not be much left by then!

Just heard about this. Such a shame. I'm going to miss those isolated score tracks. Actually, does any other company out there do those?

Biggest disappointment about TT's demise for me are the isolated score tracks, which offered a tremendous value for a major soundtrack nut like myself. Very few other labels have released iso score tracks with the level of quality and consistency as TT, and often times I've kept a middling movie from TT just to have a really nice score presented without dialogue and sound effects (especially for those scores that weren't released on CD, or else in incomplete form).

Not nearly enough. Always a big fan of those, and TT had them on probably 95% of their entire catalogue (albeit with sporadic sound effects on some).

Thank you! That explains it then. Whenever I search for a Twilight title on SAE and click on the name it comes up with nothing. I assumed all the ones I searched for were already sold out, however if I use the direct link from the email, it comes up on the site.
Another observation.. SAE's prices don't reflect the same sale that the Twilight site has. They are a few dollars higher. No wonder so many of the Twilight BD's sold so quickly today from TwilightTime site. Most people know that their shipping is far superior to SAE in cost, packaging and speed as well.

Since you're a fan of the isolated scores, I'd like to get your input on something. I enjoy film scores, but have a hard time getting into these isolated scores on the TT discs due to the long stretches of silence. Any advice on getting more out these tracks, or simply appreciating them more? How do you go about listening to them without the silent stretches breaking the flow of the music? Not being snarky at all...just genuinely curious and wanting to be able to enjoy these features more than I do. Thanks!

Paramount's "Paramount Presents" line is going to have isolated score tracks for some of its upcoming releases (Pretty In Pink and Airplane). While Airplane's score has been previously released on CD, Pretty In Pink's score has never been released.

Also, I'm particularly glad that TT released 1972's under-seen, and very powerful and moving, "The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds." That film features Joanne Woodward in a great, utterly wrenching role as an alcoholic mother, but director Paul Newman's and Joanne's young daughter steals the movie in a performance that will stay with me for the rest of my life. It's a film to watch very closely-- little details are so important, and they all add up to a finale that I would never want to spoil for you. You just have to experience it for yourself. Such an emotional, and yet also cerebral, in some ways, movie. Very intelligent and very heartfelt.

I was so disappointed that Nell Potts (the daughter of Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward) didn't continue as an actress. However, after some later drug issues, she found her niche with the Newman's Own company.

It only works if you click search instead of the title name.

The thing I wish TT did do with their score tracks would be to program the chapter stops so you could skip directly to the next score cue once the current one finished. A 1996 laserdisc of The Omen did that with Jerry Goldsmith's score, but the later Blu-Ray release omitted that feature.

Thus, it's not easy to just listen straight through to many of these (unless the movie is scored almost all-to-wall), so it tends to be a more piecemeal experience, but it's certainly better than nothing. Those more tech-minded than I could probably burn the music cues to a CD, but I wouldn't know how to go about that.

SAE LOW STOCK so this is the last batch
To Sir With Love -- just hit 47*
*Since I haven't found their cart numbers reliable at all, this should be taken as get it now and don't wait at all.**

The last several items that have hit the <50 have gone within hours and some of them minutes.* *I'm not sure if 50 isn't 50 or some bot is programmed to sit on those numbers and immediately buy the last 50 copies.

Didn't want to buy any because of VS and MM sale coming up, but I enjoyed many of TT's releases particularly Hard Times, The Driver, and A Man for All Seasons. I picked up the remaining Western films on the TT website:
Broken Lance
Garden of Evil
The Glory Guys
Lawman
Wild Bill
The True Story of Jesse James
The Return of Frank James
Stagecoach
Bandolero!
Warlock
The Tall Men

Tempted to go to SAE and buy the Fuller films. Anyone have any recommendations?
Edit: Just logged into SAE and my first order there was Hard Times in 2015. Crazy that five years have passed.

I haven’t personally thanked you hariseldon, so thank you! I own hundreds of boutique titles but have a tendency to prioritize many on their stock level (both due to limited budget and omnivorous taste for cinema—too many wishes). Your frequent posts have been invaluable while working through my TT wishlist over the past several months.
