I think probably a week later. The Jan releases are a week later than they normally are. So I would say pre-orders would be closer to New Years eve.

Not really, last year the January titles were released on 22 Jan and went up for preorder on 26 Dec.

I'm in for at least:

THE BRIDE WORE BLACK
THE ST. VALENTINE'S DAY MASSACRE

From Fox, I'm still hoping for:

THE INCIDENT
SHOCK TREATMENT (1964)

From Sony, I'm still hoping for:

HARDCORE
GIDGET
1776

Well, it didn't look like MGM was in any great hurry to release much of their Woody catalog. They own 19 of his early films, and released only 4 of them on Blu-ray. And regardless of what one thinks about this or that film of his, Allen is one of the major American filmmakers of the second half of the 20th Century.

As for "obscure" releases...I'm sorry to tell you this, but a fairly high percentage of TT's releases are "broad", "mainstream" titles. They just happen to be titles that their home studios aren't inclined to release on Blu-ray...you know, kinda like Woody Allen's classic films. I mean, seriously. Sleepless in Seattle? As Good as It Gets? Philadelphia? These aren't mainstream?

Twilight Time's agenda isn't to release obscure films, but to release notable films that their home studios are letting fall through the cracks. And yes, the Woody films fall into that category.

It's planned. From what I understand, they have all 15 of the MGM-owned (United Artists and Orion) Woody titles that MGM hasn't already released, from Bananas to Shadows and Fog.

No that's my point they are getting more mainstream. Their whole thing was supposed to be releasing great old films that don't have a big audience, hence the only 3000 limit.

They'll release whatever they feel they can profit on, man. As Good as it Gets was one of their earlier releases.

Everyone acts like these labels, Criterior, Twilight, Scream Factory, etc., release only special films or worthwhile films. The truth is always that they release what they can get their hands on and feel they can profit from. Always.

With its gorgeous color cinematography
THE ST VALENTINE’S DAY MASSACRE should look stunning on blu-ray

Question

THE BRIDE WORE BLACK (1968) BLU-RAY - Jan 20th -> François Truffaut's movie ?

Previously they were on DVD through MGM which explains why in the UK mk2 didn't release all the movies like "Mississippi Mermaid", etc...

does that imply that we could expect at last "La Sirène du Mississippi" aka "Mississipi Mairmaid" on blu-ray via Twilight Time ???

In the US perhaps but in Europe and other places christmas is usually celebrated on the 24th, not the 25th, and those who celebrate it are busy tearing of the wrapping from their presents and stuffing their faces with food.

Mississippi Mermaid would be a massive upgrade over the shoddy dvd so I hope so.

You're right, I didn't notice she was not in America...where December 24th is basically just another day, conducting-business-wise.

In the US the 24th has become more and more commercialized as time has past. There used to be a time when most stores shut down early or were closed. Before we know it the 25th will be just another day too just like Thanksgiving.
