yep, looks like i'll have to return the 3 items and re-order them in order to get the discounted price. seems like a lot of extra hassle for a very simple issue, but $30 is $30...

Thanks for the heads up. I just punched in my order for:
  • Picnic
  • Pal Joey
  • Major Dundee
  • Born Yesterday
  • Violent Saturday
  • Bonjour Tristesse

Three blind buys, Dundee, Saturday and Tristesse, which is very unusual for me, but that's what sales are for, right? Now, I have to resist the temptation to place another order before the sale is over.

I might have to replace one of the other titles with Bunny Lake Is Missing in my planned second order, to hedge against it dropping onto the next LQA.
I saw that they were the only two on TOP WEEKLY DVD/BLU-RAY TITLES chart on the website from the sale. I haven't seen either and figured they must be good to make the top chart.

Amazing someone owns 100+ Twilight Time titles. I don't even think I could come up with 12 I would want to own. Hopefully he is buying movies and not labels.

I agree Man Hunt is not as good as Woman In The Window, The Big Heat,Ministry Of Fear, etc... Gorgeous cinematography, wonderfully directed by Lang (as always) but didn't care much for Walter Pidgeon in this and Joan Bennett's fake cockney was irritating.

I'm happy Leave Her to Heaven finally sold out. It's a great film and I honestly thought it would sell much more quickly.

Now to jump on Picnic before I lose my chance...

Well, everyone has different tastes. I certainly wouldn't want to own every TT title, but I'd certainly say that there are over 100 that I'd want to own. Not including what I'm buying from the sale, I'm at 30. Whether I'll actually get all the ones I'd like to have is a separate question.

Yeah I don't see it on TCM. It's too bad because someone just sold a copy yesterday on eBay for $25. I'm sure everyone will jack up the prices now.

It's my fault for waiting though so... just have to live without it I guess.

Have you seen every one of their releases, though? Until you have, you really can't say there aren't more you'd possibly like to own - just ones that sound like you might not want to own them. I've been surprised many times by a film I wasn't particularly interested in from the description, or more obscure ones I hadn't even heard of before.

Me personally, I rarely collect and own drama films. I watch a ton of them and love them, but stuff I want to own is stuff I want to watch repeatedly, on like an annual basis, and that's going to be genre stuff 90% of the time. Especially sci-fi, which is my favorite. Most TT films are dramas, so there are only 10 or so I would have on my "want to own" list.

Others collect dramas and can even watch something like Remains of the Day over and over, which is great for them. No judging at all here! I'm only speaking for my preferences. However I know some people collect labels and buy films they don't love just to complete a collection, and I hope that person isn't doing that. Not healthy behavior.

Still no love for Rapture?

The earliest TT Blu-ray release that hasn't sold out and IMO one of the very best.

Agreed. Very strange. Rapture is a great forgotten film.

Wow. That's pretty damn annoying. "Most" companies would credit you the difference. Customer service 101.

Like you said, $30 is $30.....I'd do the same.

Sci Fi films can be drama as well. Maybe you mean more "action/adventure" Sci Fi films?

And yet your avatar is Cary Grant? Go figure...

And yes "Rapture" is a perfect little gem of a film.

I'm going through all the sale things trying to decide what to get for my next round. So far I'm sure I want:

The Disappearance
The Other
Radio Days
Broadway Danny Rose
Heaven Knows Mr Allison

I'm kind of on the fence about Picnic, Jane Eyre, Swamp Water, Prime of Miss Jean Brodie and Bunny Lake is Missing. Anyone have any input on those? I'm more interested in the odder arty flicks, thrillers and searing dramas than the more restrained, tame studio pictures that many of the others are. The TT releases I have already that are on the sale are Rapture, Equus, Experiment in Terror, When the Wind Blows, Under Fire, Man Hunt and Crimes and Misdemeanors. Would any of the five I mentioned sound like safe bets? :P

EDIT: does anyone have anything good to say about Royal Flash? I read a bunch of reviews and no one seemed to like it much. It just caught my attention cause it costars Florinda Bolkan, who I've been seeing star in a lot of great stuff recently and she always impresses me.

I can speak for two of them...If you like talky William Inge dramas (eg Come Back Little Sheba, Bus Stop) then Picnic is a safe bet and it looks stunning on blu-ray...Bunny Lake is a good offbeat thriller, definitely odd, and with a great cast

+1 for Picnic.
I actually was considering buying Funny Lady in its place (well mostly to couple with Funny Girl when i get it), but since this is going to be around for some time as it seems, I'm thinking of buying Picnic. (although that will add $5 more)
I was on the fence about The Blue Max too, but haven't seen it.

I've also loved Bunny Lake is Missing, but i don't think it has a replay value.
