I'm looking forward to both the announcements and the new releases being shipped as well.

Hoping for "Avalon" (1990; very well may be my favorite Barry Levinson film. Plus, if TT can rescue "The Last Detail" from Mill Creek Hell, they can rescue this one, too), "Thunderheart" (1992; I've always liked this one since seeing it at the theaters. Great cast), and "Shampoo" (1975; given that they're releasing "The Last Detail" and "Bound For Glory", TT should shoot for the Hal Ashby Trifecta and release this one).

If you want a certain title on blu, for instance FAT CITY, or The Fabulous Baker Boys and you want them on Blu-Ray then they are able to get transfers provided from MGM / FOX / SONY etc that perhaps they don't want to release themselves.

I am grateful. Yes they can cost more, but I love the Nick Redman, Julie Kirgo commentary tracks, Lem Dobbs is also featured on many and they are very informative and entertaining. The commentary for The Fabulous Baker boys featured the writer/ director and it was great hearing his thoughts on the film looking back on it.

These releases aren't for everyone but for avid movie lovers sometimes you have to pay for a quality release.

I don't think it's anything more than "here's a movie I want, this is the only way to get it, and if I want it bad enough I'll pay the price"

Honestly, brand doesn't matter to me aside for brands that regularly are problematic. It's about wanting x title. I wish they were less expensive but I do want them so I pay it. No complaints in general.

Word is that Criterion has Shampoo (though there's been no official confirmation of that).

If Criterion does have Shampoo I really hope they could get a new video interview with Goldie Shawn. She hardly ever discusses her film roles and I wouldn't mind hearing her thoughts on the film.

Honestly there isn't enough Goldie Hawn movies on BLU at all.

I keep hoping TT would get Seems Like Old Times from Sony. Great romantic comedy.

Technically, the price is NOT double. The mSRP is often the same or less than a lot of releases. There's just no retail markdown because no other outlets sell the discs.

And actually, many of the recent discs have decent extras, but extras are fluff that I don't really care about.

And I buy the ones I want because I want those movies. I don't buy only what's "cheap."

"Technically" doesn't really matter, in practice for anyone purchasing them they are much more expensive than the equivalent releases from distributors like Kino and Olive. They are even more expensive than Criterion and Arrow releases, which offer a lot more for the money.

If you want these movies though, you have to pay. It is what it is.

Default Dogs of War Low Quantity?

Dogs of War is listed as "going fast," @ TT's website, but it's not listed on the low-quantities list at the beginning of this thread. I'm thinking of picking it up during the sale as a blind-buy, does anyone know it's going OOP soon? Thanks

Twilight Time has stated there will be a new low quantity update sometime after the SAE sale is over (meaning after Dec 13). No mention yet of any specific titles nearing OOP status other than those listed in the first post of this thread. I believe the "going fast" on TT's website refers to quantities on hand for ordering directly from TT and is independent of what may be available at Screen Archives.

The Dogs of War isn't listed as a sale title on SAE, so I would assume it isn't flying out the door and has not yet reached 500 or less remaining status. The only thing we can say for certain is that it has been available for awhile now so if you want it I wouldn't delay too long.

What is the longest someone have waited for their Blurays to be shipped from SAE, when they are NOT preorders or new releases?
I got The Fabulous Baker boys and I was hoping it will arrive here for Christmas, but unfortunately 4 days have passed and it hasn't shipped yet.

I have revised the first post to put Harlock: Space Pirate back on the pre-order announcement for January.
Received the similar email from TT today. It said that Harlock would be shipped separately from the other December titles I pre-ordered. The other titles will be shipped as soon as they have them in stock.

It's nice for them to separate the order and ship the in-stock items as soon as possible.

Thanks for enlightening me about the status, Fat Phil and Oildude. I wasn't sure how that worked between the 2 sites. I'd prefer to pick-up Dogs of War during the b-day sale in the spring in hopes it'll be cheaper then, and focus on some of the titles that are currently on-sale. Hopefully it'll stay in stock till then.

It usually takes 10 days for a package to arrive here from SAE, but now due to the Christmas season I would guess around double time.
Well, I hope it arrives here until January 2-3.

I ordered Emperor of the North and At Close Range on Thursday and they shipped yesterday (I'm based in the UK). That's very quick by their standards however.

I sincerely hope that Chato's Land is the international version, rather than the PG-rated US cut which was put out on DVD there by MGM.
