Back when LBP first came out, you simply published your level, and if you wanted more plays - you simply published again.

LBP did an update several months ago - and basically, if your level was more than 7 days old and you republished your level - it would fall off the "cool" pages almost immediately.

There was one trick to get it to "stick" for a little while. You had to "add or delete" something from your level (add a small block of material where no one would see it, etc.) - then, when you republished, it would actually "stick". Even so, you'd only get 10 more plays or something before it slid off the cool pages.

If you want 100's/1,000's of plays - follow these steps.

1. Make a good level that people want to play. (If you want to use an older level that simply never got the plays it deserved, that is fine, make sure you have a copy on your "MOON", then delete the "published version" that never got played much).
2. Choose a week that is not busy (coming home late, being gone for a few days, etc.) The key is - your level will have 7 days from the day it is "first" published to stay on the Cool pages: you need to get it stuck on page 1-3 by the weekend (when most people play), so you can have 100 people playing it an hour.
3. Publish your level for the first time Sunday/Monday evening. Wait a couple of minutes - then scroll through the Cool pages and see where it is. You want to try and get it to land on pages 1-10 (the higher up the better). If it lands through 1-10, leave it until it slips off. Once it slips off add a small block of material to your level (on your moon), save, and republish (when you republish again, you can simply delete that block of material - LBP needs to see your level as something "new", changing the size of your level accomplishes that.

The trick is to get it stuck on Cool pages 1-10, as more people play your level, the "patch icon" will grow larger (which is great, people usually choose those large patches), however, once your growing patch gets a certain size, it will move up to the next page and become small again - starting the process over again. Don't be surprised if it drops back to the previous page.

Keep up this process the first few days, usually by Thursday, you've had a few hundred plays (maybe more if it's a really good level), and your just sitting there watching your level move up. Hopefully, by Friday evening your level is on pages 1-3 and the weekend will have many, many people choosing to play your level. By the time your level gets taken off the Cool pages next Monday evening, you should have a few thousand plays.

Hope this helps. Good luck everyone.
I see now. Thanks. I will have to give this a try.

Updated specs for the game of the year edition out today/tomorrow in North America only.

OVERVIEW

Since its launch in October 2008, LittleBigPlanet has been widely praised and critically acclaimed with more than 80 industry awards worldwide, 15 of which have been for Game of the Year categories. To celebrate these achievements, the Game of the Year edition features LittleBigPlanet's award winning “Play, Create, and Share” gameplay experience with 18 never-before-seen bonus levels created by LittleBigPlanet fans from around the world. These 18 amateur level designers were hand-picked by developer Media Molecule.

The LittleBigPlanet Game of the Year edition will also include seven free downloadable content packs to expand SackBoy's wardrobe, deliver new action packed gameplay, and offer a larger variety of “Create” materials. In addition, limited quantities of the game will include a PlayStation Network voucher code to download the upcoming ModNation Racers online beta. ModNation Racers is PlayStation's newest “Play, Create, and Share” experience, offering a classic kart racing game with a creative twist.

Developed exclusively for the PlayStation 3 by Media Molecule, LittleBigPlanet is a community-based game that allows players to “Play, Create, and Share.” The experience starts with players customizing SackBoy, the loveable main character on LittleBigPlanet. From there, players learn how SackBoy interacts physically with the surrounding environment in Story Mode. Players are tasked with making their way across the LittleBigPlanet to help find missing characters, their creations, and the sneaky culprit responsible for their disappearance. While discovering all the weird, wonderful, and colorful landscapes tended by the “Creator Curators,” players will solve puzzles and collect items that can be used to create levels. In this stylish and stitched-together 3D craft material world, there is fun to be had for all ages, tastes, and player types. On LittleBigPlanet there are developer and user-generated levels to explore and Play, a huge host of materials, tools, stickers, and more to Create, and a robust set of online features for the community to Share with each other via PlayStation Network.

FEATURES
  • 18 NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN LEVELS CREATED BY THE FANS – Each creator was hand picked by developer Media Molecule based on previous levels that these enthusiasts created and shared online. Once identified, all 18 consumers were commissioned to design a completely new environment for the LittleBigPlanet world, allowing each fan to become an amateur video game developer. All bonus levels are readily available to consumers by selecting the "Bonus Level" in-game option.
  • 7 COSTUME & LEVEL PACKS – Each content pack provides a mix of goodies to expand SackBoy's wardrobe, deliver new action packed gameplay, and offer a larger variety of “Create” materials. These Packs include Metal Gear Solid Level Pack – featuring the “Paintinator” and six action-packed levels ($5.99), Metal Gear Solid Costumes ($5.99), Monsters Costumes ($2.99), Monsters Pack ($3.99), History Costumes ($2.99), History Pack ($3.99), and Animals Costumes ($2.99). All packs are priced as on the PlayStation®Store.
  • ACCESS TO MODNATION RACERS ONLINE BETA – Get a sneak peek at PlayStation's newest “Play, Create, Share” experience – ModNation Racers. Limited quantities of the LittleBigPlanet Game of the Year edition will include a PlayStation Network voucher code to download the upcoming online beta.
  • PLAY, CREATE, SHARE – LittleBigPlanet allows players to not only play ready-made in-game levels, but to also create their own game levels and share them with others across the world via the PlayStation Network.
  • CUSTOMIZED EXPERIENCE – Whether the player is a fashion designer, an architect, or aspiring video game developer, they can show their talents off with the easy-to-use creation tools to build unique levels that can be used as a presentation, an in-game fashion show, a photo album, or a creative homage to your pet. The power of creation is firmly in the player's hands.
  • GET CREATIVE – Players will have infinite amounts of stickers, decorations, materials (glass, metal, sponge, polystyrene, cardboard, and rubber), bolts (springs, motor, and wobble bolts), switches, and rods to choose from to create their unique game levels for fun or competitive gameplay.
  • PERSONALIZING YOUR LEVELS – Using the Playstation Eye, players can place their very own images within the levels for added personalization using the sticker and decorations tool.
  • ENDLESS GAMING EXPERIENCE – With more than 1,250,000 user generated levels published on the PlayStation Network, fans will never run out of exciting environments to explore.
  • ONLINE MULTI-PLAYER MODE – Players can make Sack-buddies with other players across the world (also known as “Happy Gadders”) to discover LittleBigPlanet together while they “Play, Create, and Share” online.
  • SOCIAL NETWORKING TOOLS – When players want to play published levels, they can search for levels that suit their skill and taste by player ratings, tags like “Brilliant,” “Funny,” “Challenging,” or they can read through player comments.
  • CHAT FUNCTIONALITY – Players are able to commute with the lovable SackBoy's emotes (happy, angry, etc), but additionally, there is in-game chat support to aid collaborative efforts…or to increase the level of competition!
  • TROPHY SUPPORT – LittleBigPlanet supports a host of fun and challenging trophies to collect along the way.

So we are getting the beta code in Canada? I pre-ordered it on Amazon and that would be great to play ModNation Racers as well.

The demo will be the same as the first demo we had when it first came out wouldn't you think? first 3 levels i think it was.

Is this demo one that you can't use if you already own it?

The demo is filled with – PLAY: a hand full of in-game levels and mini-games by yourself or with 3 of your friends, CREATE: Customize your Sackboy and plaster levels with a variety of stickers and objects, SHARE: a few community levels picked from the over 1.25M levels created online.
I don't see why anyone would be blocked because they have the full game but with nothing new described for this demo, I don't know why you'd play it except for the convenience of playing off your HDD.

No it is not the same exactly. There were no user levels in the original demo. I assume it was the demo not a beta. But it has been quite a while so I am a little vague on what exactly it was last time.

It was a beta before release last year with the proper create mode and uploads accessible.

When you say "already own it" I assumed you meant the full game. Doesn't make sense to me why you'd think this new demo would be blocked to previous users of the full game or beta.

I seem to recall a demo released once (I just can't remember for what game) that could only be run if you didn't own the full game. I assume it looked for a game save. So that is what I was referring to. the demo had come out months after the release of the full game.

Default LBP Dynamic Theme

Just FYI.

I was watching some Two and a half Men episodes from the HD tonight. I noticed that the Sun in the LBP theme goes down as it gets late, background gets darker. Just waiting now to see if a moon rises. The theme does more than I expected, it adjusts for the time of day. Sacman runs 24/7 though

EDIT: Yes the sun goes down the left bottom the moon comes out on the top left corner. There are also stars out now. Yes the little things amuse me

It was Warhawk, so that veteran players didn't pick on all the newbies for trophy whoring. No reason to block it for a single-player game.

That is awesome. I'm probably going to have to fork over the money and buy that theme sometime soon. I was trying not to.

Sheesh, I forgot how much time this game can take when creating.

I have been tinkering lately, but I am largely dissatisfied with everything I've done on this level.

I think the level will be largely annoying, instead of fun.

This may quite possibly be scrapped as soon as I finish it. Besides, I've barely started and I'm already at almost 1/2 the thermometer. I've truly barely gotten anything near what I had in my head.

Oh well.

Anybody else playing around with creating a new level?

So how much can one get Little Big Planet for now?

Played the demo, and my four-year-old loves it! Think I might pick it up used...

i just finished with all of the main story levels, and had been playing through some of the community levels to get an idea of what some people were doing out there, im about ready to start creating, but im having trouble coming up with an idea for what i want to do, some of the user levels are REALLY well done, im just hoping whatever i do is playable
