I still believe that this is proof theres too much still left to do... 130K ?

We should put a BD player in every persons mind so next time a big title as this comes out in HD (Blu) it sells 500K

Remember, as Wicky said, these numbers are preliminary, don't include the box set, and are for 6 days, not yet for a full week of sales. Patience....

If they are falsifying sales numbers and are a publicly traded company, I believe that is illegal(any lawyers present?) and the SEC may want to talk to them.

Toshiba doesn't falsify numbers. They spin them out such as saying the "shipped" 190,000 units. Shipped does not mean sold though.

I hope these numbers are close to accurate. How awesome it is if a not-so-greatly-reviewed film can beat Transformers!

Well, I will get called a troll. even tho I dont own a single dud, so I will say it anyway.

While a great number for HiDef, for blu ray I am disapointed. With the amount of BD player's out in the world, this is all it could sell? Only that much more than transformers? It seems BD has fell victim to the dreaded attach rate garbage again. I just dont understand J6P, hello, your PS3 has a BD player!!!

I do appreciate Sony not lying like Paramount. It is what it is.

It sold more than Transformers did. The 130k are certified numbers. I've heard from various sources as low as 90,000 copies for Transformers, and I think they finally settled for 110k that ware reported in HMR
Awesome, you really don't get the credit you deserve WickyWoo...Great call yesterday

I'm with Izzy on this one. With over 6 million PS3s out there shouldn't we be selling more discs? But I'm thinking the Rat will outsell Spidey (and, thus, TF) handily as all the geeks are buying it (yes, that would include me) but so are a lot families (go soccer moms!!!).

Ok I'm back,

Back from where? Back from a moment of doubt. With these Spiderman sales and the way Pixar is selling,.. I'm fully confident I can simply ignore HD DUD while it withers away. To be fully clear, I never thought the other format could win but was concerned it would linger without going away.

I didn't used to think about the other format at all till the SA0CD hoax and that somehow drew me back in to thinking the war was interesting but recent sales data has brought me back to knowing it's simply over for the rival format.

I do blu

As we can all see that Ratatouille is selling so well right now, it will probably do more than Transformers and Spider-Man 3. I expect the DVD to outsell Transformers DVD. Everybody loves Pixar. Remember, Finding Nemo is the best selling DVD ever.

something bear in mind here folks, transformers was region free i the US and not released yet in europe, so a number of the TF sales were to the euro market. Spiderman has been available in the UK for a couple of weeks, so the sales figures would be US only for spidey. No telling how many copies of TF went to europe, but with the dollar/pound/euro level its damn cheap...

Cmon guys, no need to be dissapointed. If the TF dvd outsold SM3 dvd 3:1, then it's amazing we got 200k copies of SM3 out(including box set).

I think a lot of the box sets are going to be under Christmas trees this year. Probably not bought yet, but within the few weeks before Christmas.

In a dream sequence from Woody Allen's film Stardust Memories (none of his pics are currently in Blu, unfortunately), he finds himself aboard a train filled with the sorriest, saddest, and most depressed bunch of passengers imaginable. He gazes across at the next train only to find it filled, in stark contrast, with happy, beautiful people, laughing, drinking champagne, and generally bound for success. His train, sadly, ends up at the city dump.

If that film were in color instead of B&W, we'd all learn that poor Woody has found himself aboard the red train while all of us here are riding the Blu train!

The numbers are improving all the time, but I hear what you're saying.

What you need to bear in mind is that not all PS3 owners have HDTV's yet. The more that HDTV's proliferate the market, the more PS3's that are already in peoples lounges will be used to play Blu-rays.

These numbers do not represent at 2:1 ratio that has been shown in the past. Seems like everyone who had a HD Dud player bought Transformers but not every one with blu jumped on spidey?????

If these numbers include the trilogy then it is very disapointing. However, I can't imagine that they sold 70k box sets to bring it to a total of 200k. $70 overall is a lot to buy a box set and I can see this one selling more closer to xmas.

Overall, we did still win the game, but I think everyone here expected a blowout which we didn't see??????

PS. To the ones thinking that Rat will outsell SPidey 3 this week in blu, please turn in your user ID's and leave the forum.

So....if the Rat does outsell Spidey 3, does that mean you'll be the one to leave?

But you have to remember that Transformers was the jewel in the crown title for the Dud boys. Even if they had no interest in the movie, they bought it just to help with the numbers. And even then, they still lost.

Spiderman will sell very well over a period of time. Also remember that a lot of people spent a lot of money the past few weeks on discs, so maybe they are pacing their purchases. It's easier to spend $25 on a disc than it is to spend $70 on a boxset. Like I said, I think the box sets will set very well for Christmas.

i don't know why people are expecting some huge ratio versus TF (although with the trilogy we wasted them). Comparing two different movies like this is useless. Transformers sold hella more on dvd so it's obviously more popular. If we had transformers we woulda sold a shitload more than hddvd NO DOUBT!
