CptGreedle: Most excellent reference to the David Bowie song -- an unquestionably classic song, IMHO...

the side and bottom ones I tend to loosen at one end using a knife to lever them up and then rip off.

You know when you get a Blu-ray and it actually has the sticker on the bottom and the side (which I think says like "security device enclosed" or something like that) not just the title one on the top, it always seems to leave adhesive behind on the case. Does this happen to anyone else and if so, what do you do if anything to get it off?

Take out the movie insert and remove gunk with rubbing alcohol. That will do the trick

They supply you with the solution right on the packaging. In fact, it's quite ironic now that I think of it. The sticker that left the residue behind in the first place works like a charm. Just press it firmly down on the remains and then tear it off quickly like a band-aid. It may take several attempts to get it all, but that's how I make my cases completely clean without the need of chemicals.

I was just *****ing about the same thing tonight. The side and bottom seals from the two disks I just purchased from BB left major residue that the sticker wouldn't even get off. Duct tape and a few hours later I'm good to go. Damn I hate those seals...
I've tried some chemicals to remove the residue in the past but wound up damaging the plastic. How does goo gone do? Any discoloration? |

What I really find interesting - maybe you all notice it too - the cases with the raised silver BD logo - have stickers that go OVER them along the top. So, when you remove it, some of the silver goes with it.
Then, on the flip side, the cases with the printed BD logo - have stickers that are missing the middle section so it does NOT go over the logo. Perhaps my logic is totaly screwed, but should it not be reversed? ![]() |

we have people like paidgeak to thank for just having the one sticker to deal with now instead of wrestling three. well all I know is If this is the least of my problems I am happy. no firmware updates with every new disc, no boiling of discs, life is easy. ![]() |

Just a simple question from an avid DVD collector. I recently bought a bunch of titles in the Amazon BOGO and when removing the shrink wrap and stickers, I was left with some rather unsightly glue residue on my cases. Just wondering what everyone thinks is the best solution or method for pretty-ing up my new Blus.

Goo Gone dude....Goo Gone. A little dab will do ya. I recommend pulling the inserts out of the plastic first (just to be safe) and then putting them back in once all residue has been removed.
I bought a standard size bottle of Goo Gone for just this reason 5 years ago and it looks like I have barely used any of it (even though I have used it on a TON of dvd's). It will last for a long time. |

Citrus-based cleaner like CitriSolve works on everything but itself leaves a residue (and scent). I'm not sure it wouldn't cloud the clear plastic either. I've been itching to give it a try though. As always remove the insert before using. Not much help, I know, but I figured I'd throw in my two cents.
edit: scratch that altogether. Citrus cleaner might strip finish off furniture if you don't remove all trace of it ![]() Last edited by Rustmonsteru; 11-26-2007 at 03:22 PM. |
