If the posters were discussing the non-skippable trailers on the floor of the United Nations then I could understand it being a big deal. On a message board dedicated to blu-rays...not so much.
If you pay for something you shouldn't have to sit through a bunch piracy warnings and commercials to watch it. |

I certainly prefer no trailers at all, and then I prefer them to be entirely skippable if they insist on including them. Even then I've never minded fast-forwarding through a trailer. To force people to sit through 6 or 7 minutes of unskippable trailers, one of them featuring substantial spoilers for what you're about to watch, is a horrible decision. It's right up there with spoiling the Planet of the Apes ending on the cover.

I binge watched it last night. My fist thought was fireball the casting director, this is one fugly looking crew. By the the end I really enjoyed the show and I can't wait to watch next season.
ps the forced trailer thing is obnoxious but it fits with the VHS theme. If it wasn't spoilers I'd be more forgiving, thanks To you guys I got a heads up, what about the average joe who doesn't frequent BD.COM. Last edited by rognvaldr; 10-20-2017 at 07:05 PM. |

They’re supposed to be bullied, geeky D & D playing kids. They’re not going to look like little Brad Pitts, that would defeat the entire point. All four actors were instantly credible and believable as that particular ‘type’.

I purchased a couple extra copies myself. Shipped out one to my brother on Wednesday via UPS Ground. It's out for delivery as we speak.

As for the first world problems comment, grow the **** up. If we lived in the third world we wouldn't be on an internet forum talking about a TV show. I am so sick of this garbage first world entitlement crap people always try to play off as if that is supposed to mean something. First world problems yes, that is why I live in the first world. I broke my Disk 1 in half and the trailer didn't play; so there's that workaround as well. I was also able to stream the whole season from an app on my player, so the broken disk didn't even affect me being able to watch the show!

That's one way to remove the trailers. A little extreme, but if it works for you. :-P

PS3 is my primary Blu-ray player (I've never played a game on it), and yes, I can confirm the trailers are un-skippable. It didn't bother me because I've seen the series already. But if I hadn't, seeing the S02 trailer would have spoiled major plot points for S01. |

I might have felt tempted to take a principled stand as well though in the end I would have still purchased the release and irrespective of the very cool retro VHS packaging. The opportunity to own any title on Blu-ray that I really enjoy trumps any considerations to how the title was authored to disc. Preaching to the choir I'm sure.

I try to support discs, but it is situations like this that really drive home the point that streaming is a better experience. The BluRay Disc Association could help discs compete with streaming by ending the requirement that BluRay players must honor all authoring choices, even ones that make disc watching an unpleasant experience. But they're out to lunch. They won't revisit the format or its rules. |
