Seems like a lot of work lol. The 5 minutes of trailers you spend it on doing all of that process

Not for people who want to avoid any Season 2 spoilers.

What is that supposed to mean? Have you spoken with all of the people? I hadn't seen it and didn't want to see it. The moment I realized what it was I ejected the disc. I was already committed to watching Season 2 and didn't want to see a moment of it ahead of time.

There is nothing spoiler-ish about the trailer. I meant the people who have a big following on the show, which is millions.

You failed to mention the forced-on trailers on Disc 1.

There’s a huge spoiler almost immediately in the trailer. Have you even watched this show?

Bottom line: you cannot assume everyone watching these Blu-rays has seen the show. Some viewers have, some haven’t, and the presence of a certain character and their description of the events of the first season are an enormous spoiler for new viewers.

Insert disc 2. Select one of the episodes on disc 1. Swap discs per the prompt on your screen. Forced trailers bypassed.

In the amount of time it takes to put in disc 2, load the machine up, choose an episode from disc 1, switch discs, and wait for disc1 to load, you could have just sat through those trailers and be done at the same time.

Anyway, I was thinking, do you think they put those trailers on there like that (I still doubt they are completely unskippable) to mimic the trailers of a VHS tape?

No because on a VHS tape, we can fast forward without a digital lock. Good old analog technology.

Netflix has been putting unskippable previews before their streaming shows as a way to get users to check out other programming. Unless its something you already seen, its gonna show up.

I checked out The Defenders for the first time and was greeted by an unskippable trailer for Luke Cage. The reason Netflix includes the Season 2 trailer is so instead of waiting for the home video release of Season 2, you'll stream it on Netflix.

Oh, you don't have Netflix? Well, let's offer you a trial and see if you'll continue to pay for the content we provide.

I have an extra Stranger Things that I bought for someone else who doesn't need it now. Before I return it I wanted to check if anyone still needs one. I can ship it to you at cost.

Looks like that one member is the only one so far. I've tried both discs multiple times and got nothing but black and silence. Pretty bummed, but maybe trying unplugging the network cable will yield positive results. I'll give that a shot tonight and see what happens.

Whether any plot points are revealed is beside the point to me. By its very nature it's a spoiler, because it's footage from Season 2. I was already planning on watching Season 2 and have a strong preference for not watching snippets ahead of time and yes, I'm part of this TV shows big following, but a part of that big following that avoids trailers and such at all costs and I'm sure I'm not alone.

And for the record, if I had my choice of Season 2 on Blu-ray with a trailer for Season 3 you can't skip past or no Blu-ray release at all I'd choose getting the Blu-ray release every time. It's just a dick move by Netflix in my opinion not allowing for the trailers to be skipped. They could have let us "Next Chapter" past each one or even provided an on-screen option to watch the trailers or proceed directly to the main menu as I've seen with some other TV show releases.

Are you being obtuse on purpose? The whole point of the work around is for those that don't want to see any of Season 2 ahead of time. Okay, to be fair, that would be my reasoning in addition to standing on principle that we shouldn't be forced to sit through the trailers. And correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the work around can be performed in way under 5 minutes if you own a Blu-ray player that loads Java discs quickly. I'd think in under 2 minutes easily.

Man, all of these posts about the non-skippable trailer keep bringing the same thought to my mind:

Just pop the disc in and grab some chips / pop some corn, and/or go to the bathroom. Then, when you come back to the tv, the trailer will have ended.

I had my own doubts but they are unskippable if you start with disc 1, which obviously everyone would be doing. The chapter-forward option is disabled. The fast-forward option is disabled. The menu button is disabled. If you stop the disc and press menu it loads the trailers before the menu.

It’s one thing to see if your player might allow them to be skipped or to find a ridiculous workaround like we found today, it’s another to doubt a bunch of people who have the disc when you don’t. It’s against the forum’s rules to say what that’s called.

As for your time comment? It’s false. Demonstrably-false. Quantifiably-false. Starting with disc 2 I was able to get into a disc 1 episode in probably less than a minute. Disc 2 surprisingly has almost no nonsense when you load it and you can get to a disc 1 ep faster using this workaround than you can get into the main program of most discs.

People complain about forced trailers, you/we give them a solution and they still complain...there's no pleasing anyone.
