You will become deaf. You don't need to hear the other speakers.

Originally, the legs were 4 inches long. With the added 6", they are now 10". Technically my 10" is longer than your 9".

you guys convinced me, and today I sought out the materials to build my sub table. Oak wood 20"x20", cut 8" legs out of material used for stair rungs (don't know what kind of wood), used an industrial type carpeted mat with rubber on the bottom, put some little rubber discs on the bottom of each leg, and then took one of my bass traps and cut it down in size and mounted to the underneath of the table itself. So far so good, gonna experiment further tonight. First thought: seemed like less bass output?..interesting.

Two more questions Big Daddy... Should I reattach the spike ends of the spikes on my A2-300 or should I get longer spikes/legs for it? Also, where are those 15" sub pics?

Instead of the factory spikes, I installed new 4" legs to my Hsu down-firing subs and the results were so much better. See the pictures in Post #134.

Picture are almost ready. I will have to organize everything and do a short write-up. I will post them on Monday.

Looks very good. I hope the improvement in sound is noticeable. Eventually, put some carpet around the legs. It will make it look nicer and more professional.

yeah, I'll maybe use some different carpet then the stuff I was using to cover the oak, just because of the rubber underneath the carpet, kind of hard to work with. The riser will stay kind of hidden behing the chair, so for now, no one will see it. Same with the butchered bass trap, looks kind of ratty now, but later I'll maybe cover it by running some fabric from leg to leg. Oh yeah, in case anyone else is contemplating this: 11 buckes from Lowes total, one hour to cut all peices and build.

something I've been meaning to ask/declare is that with all these improvements that have been talked about, and obviously work, why aren't subs built this way in the first place? If a sub works better on a GRAMPA, then why don't manufacturers offer legs?...or just include them....or just build them onto their sub? It just seems that we are all talking quite abit about all these improvements when it's something a subwoofer company could do to their product line, and totally benefit from anyone else?

Then companies would have to stop making their higher end subwoofers because the lower end subwoofers sound so good.

There are plenty of companies that sell spikes, stabilizers, legs, discs, etc. There are companies like Parts Express that sell all sorts of gadgets for improving and building speakers and electronics.

Most speaker/subwoofer companies want to make as much money as they can on their products. They will include the basic spikes, cables, and other accessories to maintain their profit margin. Someone asked Dr. Hsu of Hsu Research, a very reputable subwoofer company, about why he made some subwoofers down-firing instead of front-firing. Dr. Hsu is a very honest person and his response surpised everyone. It was something like this: "We made it down-firing to save the cost of building additional grille, etc." Apparently, down-firing subs are cheaper to make.

There are a few companies that make subwoofer enhancement products like SubDude, SubTrap, and Gramma risers. That is how we got the idea. Look at Posts #104 and #127.

It is the same in car accessories. There are plenty of companies that sell enhancements for cars.

Sorry for all of the large images. The difference is tremendous and very worth it. If you have any sense, you will make one.
