They look wonderfull and ME want them.

It is time for the subwoofer and the riser to come their rightful owner in Southern California. The rain in Portland will ruin them.

Great looking riser CrazyBLUE. Did you document its construction or are you keeping its secrets to yourself? Good Work!

I did not take pics of the build process because I will not take my DSLR camera to work , It can be dusty at times there .

I am planning on explaining how I did it with posting pics of it from when I brought it home before I Finished it .

I will also Do A right up in the speaker DIY thread on how I Put Mozambique Veneer on all 4 of My TSi surround Towers .

BTW ~ Thanks for the compliment Beerserker

it looks to smooth to be carpet.

Animo , It is A piece of A small rug you would put in front of A door to wipe your feet on , about A 1/4 inch thick . I then covered it with A section of A bed sheet I had bought .
sorry Photobucket was updating site ~ Here is my post w/pics of it .

I haven't used the carpet from Parts Express. These are the carpets I used to cover the top of one of my risers. They are actually door mats with a very thin layer of rubber. I bought them for $3.50 each from Home Depot.

Big Daddy, what can you say about Def Techs supercube's design where you have one front firing speaker with 2 passive radiator - 1 on each sides? Reason I'm asking is that, I get better bass from different locations compared to my velodyne 12 in front firing woofer and port. That is after finding the best location for the velodyne. BTW, I got the supercube ll.

Big Daddy, I ordered my 2nd eD A2-300 sub today. ...And, of course, I started construction tonight on my matching DIY riser. Got about halfway through it before I had to stop for the night. It's built (wood cut and holes drilled, screws screwed in, polyfill attached), but I'm at the phase now of attaching the carpeting. I've got to let it sit overnight to let the liquid nails dry. I used screws and liquid nails on the legs and the frame. I did this on my first riser, and it turned out solid as a rock. Very reinforced to hold 70 pounds. I took the time to take pics tonight (unlike last time in my haste ); will have to upload them tomorrow once I complete it. Thanks again for all the great information and ideas in this thread!

You know it buddy! I was kicking myself the last time for not slowing down and taking the pics. I made sure I did it this time around. Tomorrow morning I finish attaching the carpet to it and then the leveling feet. Just gotta be patient (somehow!!!) and wait for the sub to arrive!

Passive radiators are used as an alternative to ports. Subwoofers with passive radiators are a little more difficult to design and require more caculations. If they are designed and built well, they will sound excellent. Make sure you keep the radiators away from the walls and follow Def Techs instructions on which one should be in the back and which one in the front.

I have two vintage Polk RTA-15TL speakers. Each one has two 10" passive radiator. The one in the back has a lower resonance frequecy. When the back of the speakers are away from the wall by about a foot or more, they sound better. That is what Polk Audio receommends in their manual.
