I think I referenced something to him, like being a bull in a china shop.

Congratualtions. The riser looks good. My suggestion is to put an area rug on the hard floor under the sub and buy some foam and fill the area under the riser.

Thank you for the compliment BD. I was going to get some foam, but funds ran short.

Mike,

It may not be a bad idea to attach industrial strength velcro to the bottom of the legs of the subwoofer and attach them to the riser. Your riser may be a bit too small and there is a chance that the subwoofer may fall off. You can buy industrial strength velcro from Home Depot/Lowes/Wal-Mart.

Also, an area rug is a must. It makes the subwoofer sound better and the riser more stable.

Good job Mike! I have nothing to add besides what's already been said.

Have you had a chance to listen to it yet? Any thoughts, impressions?

Thank you for the input Big Daddy. I still have the left over piece of mat that i cut for the riser. It is big enough to place under the Riser as well. Ill putnit there when i get home. Ill look into the velcro as soon as possible.

I went to Home Depot last night & picked up a couple 2x3 pieces of wood from their scraps & had them cut to 18.5". Then had a 1/2" piece of Solid (not MDF) wood cut to 18.5" x 15.5" for my soon to arrive (2nd) PA-120 Sub. The sub is 17" deep x 14 1/4 wide, so the base will give it a bit of clearance on all sides. The 3 pieces cost $1.51. Yes, that's right: $1.51 --- Next I went down to their carpet area with the intent to ask someone what small scrap sections they might have that I'd use to cut to size to go on the base. Nobody was around (shocking!! ) so I walked around & found some small area rugs for $6.99, but didn't buy 1 as Walmart had some 21"x36" small area rugs (if you can call them that) for $6. But, as I was about to leave, I noticed some floor mats that were (I think) 18"x26" or so, & slightly Padded. Perfect, I thought. Best of all, it was just $2.97. Lastly, I picked up some 1 1/2" finishing nails for $1.99. Total for EVERYTHING: just over $7.00. Not bad for a small riser for my 2nd Sub, right?

I will be using the padded floor mat to go on top of the base piece, then some foam I have will go Under it for any bass voids. I'm not sure if I want to use the 2x3 pieces laying on their side (the 3" side) or the taller way, making the riser sit up higher. I'm leaning towards the latter. Luckily I have some Gorilla Glue I picked up a couple months ago that will be used vice nails for the 2x3's to the base piece. I have some small carpet tacks (more like nails tho') that I can use for the Mat piece onto the base, altho' I may see if the Gorilla glue will do the trick there 1st. All the wood will be spray-painted black anyway, so I won't need to wrap the base piece in carpeting. The padded mat will do fine for the Sub to rest on. I took a few photos of everything last nite & will try to put it together tomorrow after work, or Sunday, depending on what goes on after work. Not that it should take but 15-20 minutes but I have to move the existing end table to the left of my couch, & put a 20x20 table in its place. The Sub will be under that table, raised up a bit on 3x3 block pieces of wood that are in place now with the existing end table.

So, LONG story short, whether you spend $7 or $70, make your Riser something that resembles master carpentry skills or not, if it works for Your situation is All that matters. I'm no Handyman, but even I can do these minor projects. I did the 2 small risers for my Front T90e's, & a few other HT related things also. Anyone with basic common sense & a few tools should be able to build some sort of Riser. Photos of the process & completed Riser will be in my Gallery in a few days.

Congratulations Aero,my Friend.
That was the deal of a lifetime to come across everything for $7.00.

Way to go.Sounds as if you will have a Great Riser for the New PA-120 Sub(to give you a matching pair)

And you are 100% correct,Buddy.

If you have the will and the material,AnyOne can Build a Riser.
Even if you just follow one of the Plans here(on the Forum).

I can say I actually enjoyed having a chance to build one.
So,I know it will be great when you assemble yours.

I look forward to seeing the pics of the Riser as well as the Awesome New PA-120 to give you Two of those Deep Bass Beasts in your Home Theater.

Have a Great Day,my Friend.
And Thank You for the inspiration and the joy you could read in your post you have knowing another sub and riser will be yours soon.
