There seem to be several ways to do this. I've seen use foam, dense fiber and loose fiber. I have built 18"x20"x24" boxes that are cut out on the sides and front and back, like Kareface's. He filled his with pink house type insulation so I should probably just do that.
This method makes it more like a sub trap than just a simple riser. |

edit: Project done. WOW 100% audible difference! I can now crank up my sub much louder without getting any negative sounds or vibrations within the room. Well worth the hour spent building and $40 of materials. I can't believe how great this cheap Acoustic Audio sub sounds on top a solid riser. This thread rocks. ![]() ![]() Last edited by cyde; 04-05-2011 at 10:08 PM. |

HushMat definitely is a bit pricey. Would something like this do?: http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_...products_id=51 |

If you are patient and do a complete search, you will find plenty of products that basically are made for the same purpose. Last edited by Big Daddy; 04-25-2011 at 03:34 AM. |

I'm almost done building my riser. Everything else in my room is done. I just have one question. With the high density foam, do I just put it under the riser or am I supposed to attach it to the bottom of the riser somehow? Please let me know. Thanks!

Unless it Completely takes up the ENTIRE Space beneath your riser, I'd Attach it (velcro, glue, carpet nails, etc.).
